Love, love, love their food. Can’t stand the amount of MSG in the food. Be prepared to go home thristy as hell for the remainder of the night after eating here. You’ve been warned!

Came here on a Tuesday afternoon around 2 o’clock. It wasn’t busy at all. And food came out really fast. I ordered the phở Tai and my brother ordered the com tam with the egg roll. We both ordered off their lunch special menu, which was $ 2.99 each. Phở portion was right for me. Was a little oilier than I’m used to but still tasted good. The ratio of egg roll to rice was a little off for my brother’s plate but he said it was still delicious. You can add more meat or egg roll for an additional dollar(which we’ll do next time). Overall, I would definitely recommend trying this place out. It’s a good place to drop by and grab a bite to eat for lunch. Cheap prices. Good food. Can’t go wrong with that!

So fun and an adventure! We were served a giant roasted catfish and carrots cabbage cucumber daikon noodles lettuce mint, etc with two different kinds of fish sauce and spring roll wrappers. We made our own spring rolls and had such a fun evening. And the food was delicious!

My family and I used to frequent this place when everyone was home on the weekends. We’d order ca nuong, the LARGE size to feed everyone,(fried catfish) and a few com tam dishes on the side for the boys. First of all, the com tam dishes are HUGE. We jokingly call them turkey platters cause that’s just how big the com tam dac biet plate is. So obviously, portions are there, and the price is right for what you get. The veggies that come with the ca nuong are always fresh, but that’s never a problem for Vietnamese restaurants, I noticed. CANUONG: fried catfish. Pretty legit here. I believe it’s baked AND fried, but I’m not sure. All I know is it takes a very long time to cook if you order inside the restaurant. TIP: What my family does is call in 15 min before we get to the restaurant, so by the time we get seated, it comes out within another 15 min. No one is gonna get hangry today. Something notable: the nuoc mam is pretty good. The recipe is just right. It isn’t too sweet, or too sour. Maybe I’m just picky when it comes to this, but if the nuoc mam is wrong, the whole meal is doomed. A problem I always have with Vietnamese restaurants is service. And I’m actually satisfied with the service here. Whenever we come in, the restaurant isn’t too busy, and we’re usually the biggest party. It’s hard to ignore us, I guess. Overall, we get a lot more attention, and we end up leaving happier if our needs are met. Esp since my mother is high maintenance. We’re usually a party of about 7 or 8 normally, so seating could sometimes be a problem. But My Hanh always accommodates us. They have large round tables that can expand, fit all of the foods and there’s still enough elbow room.

I had the absolute worst catfish hot and sour soup here! The service wasn’t good either. Yes there was two very oh so thin slices of catfish in my soup but the soup itself was nasty! There was no balance of anything! It’s just simply sour! and I wanted to pee in my pants on the first sip of the soup!

3 ½ stars Report Card : Food: A– Service: B Hands down, One of the better Vietnamese Restaurant in the 626: Food: I have tried a wide range of dishes from phở to banh canh to family style dishes. The serving of phở is definitely worth what you pay for. As for the banh canh, I am so in love with it because of the soup. For the family style dishes, I have tried the fish soup, fish dish, the mini salad, and the pickled vegetables. The fish soup is one of the better ones I have tried because I am a sucker for sweet and sour foods. The fish dish is unfortunately always inconsistent, the last time I had it it was too salty. As for the salad it consisted of lotus root and celery which was refreshing. Lastly, the pickled vegetables were delicious when paired with rice. Overall, I am pretty happy with all the food picks I have made so far. OMGOSH. I almost forgot my ultimate favorite dish of all time is the Bo Luc Lac, the meat is always cooked perfectly and I love how it comes with salad… not to mention that REDRICE. Next time you go, you must try it. Service: Really not much to comment about. it is always average, but I feel like they are a little more attentive towards my family and I because we have been long time customers since they opened their first store in El Monte. So maybe it is a bias viewpoint. so don’t go off of my reviews of the service.

This was a horrible place for me to try to be adventurous. My party ordered the family style meal and everything was full of MSG. I drank at least five cups of water there because of all the MSG that was put in their food. Also, this place has not been cleaned probably since it first opened. The walls are full of splatter from food and the dust has settled and has not been wiped. As for the food, our thit kho was too salty. The only thing that turned out great was the salad, but then again, it is hard to go wrong with the salad. Please beware of this place… you will be sadly disappointed. Definitely not a place I am going to return to.

The food was not good at all. very disappointed. There were only 2 pieces catfish in the fish soup. And it tasted weird. The soup has pineapple, tomato, celery and pickles in it. And the price is $ 10.95. The service was bad too. At the end, our bill was 25 but it’s cash-only!!! If you are reading this review, please take my advice and avoid this restaurant.

Everytime I go to LA, I stop at this restaurant for the best Ca Kho To. I will try other food next time when I go here.

I cannot say for all the food, but we normally eat the traditional dishes of Canh Chua and Ca Kho To. This is the place for these authentic dishes. We have tried these at many places including in Little Saigon, but it’s been difficult to find place that’s good for both.

Huge huge huge portions… but very small drinks. Like one of my friends ordered a rice dish with a baked egg, shredded pork, beef, and some shrimp paste, plate was probably about like a foot long and like 7 inches wide, cost him like $ 8.00, deal right? Then my other friend ordered a thai ice tea, probably about the size of a Tall from starbucks, $ 2.00, like that 2.00 is probably still cheaper than a Tall starbucks frap and all, but damn, there is a big discrepency between their meals and drinks. This might only happen with the thai ice teas, i remember my cousin once ordering one of the vietnamese desert drinks which were about average size. Anywho, onto the restaurant, which imo is a good size, fairly clean from what I see, until I touched the table that perhaps they forgot to wipe down, or maybe they did wipe it and it just left some sticky residue. Meh, the service here is good and their food was pretty good. I ordered some fried fish which had eggs inside, while the fish was good, the batter they used was not, or let’s just say they didn’t fry the fish well. The vermicelli noodle bowl I ordered was loaded with a bunch of meat; pork egg roll, shrimp paste, pork, beef all topped over a bed of vermicelli and some veggies. It was good, the shrimp paste was notebly tuffer than most places, but you could really taste the shrimp. If you decide to skip the vermicelli bowl, they have plenty of other Vietnamese eats to choose from as well as Chinese dishes.

Since 2009, my family and I have been occasionally coming here when we crave for Vietnamese cuisine. The food here is pretty good. I usually order the bun rieu, the fried shrimp patty com tam, or some sort of noodle soup. Some things have changed since ’09– they no longer serve their delicious, free sweet soup at the end of your meal(major sadface!) and each dish have increased by $ 1.50(a little more or less). The restaurant setting is fancy compared to other Vietnamese restaurants that we’ve been to. Service is alright– no complaints there. I love their parking lot, so easy for us just to slip into a spot.

If you are into family style Vietnamese meals, My Hanh is a good choice to go to. We got their $ 50 combo deal that provided a salad, soup, clay pot fish, fried fish, and egg rolls. Overall it was a really satisfying lunch meal when you divide it all out and everyone’s paying $ 10/head. Viewing their menu, you’ll also find the usual Vietnamese foods from phở to vermacelli to other special dishes like bo lo lac. I’d definitely want to come back and try their bun bo hue and phở to see how it is.

I just got home right now from dinner here and my mom just finished her phone call to complain. THATISHOWBADITIS. My mom actually called in after eating! We got the dinner canh chua combo($ 19.95) with comes with bamboo/shrimp/pickle salad, pickled vegetables and marinated fish. THISDOESNOTCOMEWITHRICE. You have to pay extra $ 3 for rice which in my opinion is ridiculous cause how are you going to eat the soup and side dishes without rice?! Dad got vermicelli noodles with duck and snail. We also got the lobster, cause it is $ 7.99 if you order $ 25 or more of other foods. Canh Chua — GROSS. It was waaaayy too sour then somehow tasted salty towards the end… I would even prefer the way too sweet soup My Dung used to serve. They give plenty of vegetables in it though . Bamboo/shrimp/pickle salad — you know that sour carrots and turnip places serve with com tam? Well it tastes like that but SOGGY. At least it had shrimp in it but taste like nothing. Pickled vegetables — this was better compared to the ones My Dung gives in their combo, but still weird. My mom told me they used to serve this with hoisin sauce and sesame in vietnam. I still think its gross either way. Marinated fish — I didn’t try this because I normally do not like this dish but my parents love it. HOWEVER, they hated it here. TOOSALTY! Noodles — I tried it and it has very very bland soup compared to a lot of other places. My dad loves eating duck and snail vermicelli and he gets it everywhere he can, but he didn’t like it here either. especially not for $ 6.50 cause even I can make bland soup put noodles duck and snail in it for a lot cheaper at home. Lobster — When it first came out, my first thought was THAT’S IT?! WHYDOESITLOOKSOSOGGY. It was more like half a lobster to me. I ate all the meaty pieces. There were only three of those. WHYISTHERESOMUCHPEPPER… I washed it off cause I didn’t like pepper but if you like pepper then you will probably like it. It wasn’t bad, but my family is more used to lobster fried dry with garlic and green onions and stuff. They didn’t have that here :( We also each got a rau ma(pennyworth drink). the cups are SMALL hahaha but for $ 1 I can’t complain. It is free before 5pm with your order though.(; One more thing, the waitress really didn’t look like she wanted to be there … poor girl should just go home and stay home. Overall, I did not like my experience today. If I want canh chua, I will go to My Dung which is something else now and it is a dollar cheaper, includes rice and tastes better, but I will be back to try the phở since that is what people eat here. I will update my review when I do, but right now they don’t even deserve one star. Maybe half a star for how nice it looks for a vietnamese restaurant. CASHONLY. –____-x

I came here with family for dinner for another round of stuff the tummy. The parking is plentiful and was surprised to see a security guard near the back entrance way. Space wise, this place is big and apparently they do lots of karaōke nights cause they have an area for onstage singing. But we got seated pretty quick and service was prompt. I got their iced coffee which I loved since they sweetened it to my liking. I also love the imperial rolls which had a crispy texture on the outside and stuffed with pork on the inside. I love love love their garlic clams, especially the sauce they used. Fresh garlic with green onions and a hint of savory and sweet at the same time. It was sublime.

I came here for lunch with my mom and her friends today, and it was just«alright.» The place was pretty big with plenty of seating; however, the food is just mediocre. There’s a wide variety of Vietnamese food including noodles, rice, vermicelli, and some dinner dishes. I ended up getting the vermicelli with beef and egg rolls– which was alright. It wasn’t THAAAT amazing, but their beef was really soft while their fried egg rolls were pretty typical. The food was cheap and reasonable. On the other hand, the service could’ve been better just because the waiter didn’t have any recommendations. When asked about their speciality, he said«everything is special.» To me, that was the most ridiculous answer, ever– which made me dislike the waiter even more. I mean, if everything was that special, this place would’ve been PACKED by now. But it wasn’t packed at all. Overall, I probably wouldn’t come back unless someone paid for my meal. This place is pretty typical and doesn’t really stand out– especially with the tons of Vietnamese cuisine here in the SGV. Perhaps instead of having so many items, maybe they should focus on an item and make it special, just an advice for the owner. Low lights: –Service– the waiter didn’t really know what to recommend. –CASHONLY! High lights: –Decent pricing. –Tons of parking.

This place is cheap, the pricing, not the food. The food here is pretty good. I especially like their banh canh(udon) thit with clear broth. They also have free drinks here! This is a really big restaurant with a lot of seating. Friendly staff and very quick service.

Went here today with my mom for lunch. Their phở is pretty good and they give you TONS of noodles. I’m a huge fan of all carbs in general and with phở at other places(like at Phở Pasteur) I’m left wanting more noodles! I will warn you though that their soup is a tad on the bland side(or maybe I’m just used to the MSG-ful stuff). But honestly for the price, it’s a serious deal. Right now they give you a free drink(it’s listed in one of the photos) for dine-in so it’s a super deal. We ordered 2 bowls of phở with 2 drinks and our total was $ 12. Such a deal! Besides the blandness, the only other negative was that the place is cash only!

Oh noes! How can this place get such low ratings? =(This is my DEFAULT place for roasted catfish… yummmmm =d Also, because it’s roasted catfish, it’ll take around 30mins to make but you can call in and tell them your time of arrival =) I think a medium catfish, enough to feed about 4 ppl or so, is about $ 30 – 35. I usually order other dishes on the side and come in groups of 6 or more =) If you guys haven’t experienced the awesomeness of a roasted catfish in a Vietnamese restaurant… well, let me tell you all about it =D The catfish can be eaten spring roll style. When you order the fish, it comes with the rice paper wraps, lettuce, mint, cucumber, pickled stuffs, noodles, a bowl of warm water, and dipping sauces =) –Step 1: Take the wrap and dip it in the water. The most efficient way to do this is to hold one end, dip the other end in and make a full circle in the water by inching the paper in, kind of like opening a can but pretend you have the lid??? Can someone explain this better? –Step 2: Put the rice paper on your plate before it completely softens, otherwise you’re screwed… then try again =D –Step 3: Fill the middle of the wrap with goodies, since you’re rolling, this will be at your discretion =) It’s easiest to wrap if you put everything in a strip. For example, wrap is a circle: O, fill food like this in the middle: l, leave an inch space at the bottom of the strip. And also, please don’t overfill. Everything they provide you, they’ll give you more of at no charge =) –Step 4: Start at the bottom of the strip and fold it towards the center, using the bottom of your strip as the base. Take the right side and bring it to the left side, then vice versa. Don’t worry abou the top, you’ll be starting at that end so it doesn’t need to be wrapped =d –Step 5: Yay!!! You’ve made your first roll =D Now dip and eat or just eat! =))) Otherwise, just have at the catfish and eat in any way you want =D You can even skip the rice paper and wrap using the lettuce instead… it’s a great way to get your greens =) I love that this place includes a drink with your dinner =) Pennyworth all the way =D! The crêpe is absolutely one of my fave Vietnamese dishes =) And they don’t disappoint here. The skin is crunchy and made from the batter of… mung bean flour and water??? The filling consists of onions, pork slices, bean sprouts and shrimp. I usually hit the skin fast so that it doesn’t go soggy on me… I’ve tried multiple other dishes here and nothing has really disappointed except for the sour sop catfish soup. But that might’ve just been because I didn’t eat it right away and the catfish overcooked while sitting in the bowl??? The catfish pieces were HUGE though… This place is definitely a deal, especially their roasted catfish… come and try… don’t be scared… call me when you’re confused and need help, I’ll be over in a jiffy ;P
