A little restaurant in the Shu Fat Groccery plaza! It’s honestly a hit or miss depending on your taste buds but if you like sour, spicy, and NOOODLES you definitely have to try it out. They have dry and wet noodles. I really enjoy the noodles here because of the texture. It’s chewy yet very easily consumable. It’s not too mushy either which is great for the dry noodles. I personally like the dry noodles more because you get more of the spicy and sour taste for every bit. My favorite is A4. It’s the right amount of spicy and sour. One thing you do have to take into consideration is the serving manner. It’s very typical Chinese restaurant behavior. So don’t expect your A1 American waiter here. It’s hard to grab their attention during busy hours and they might even forget to give you the menu in the beginning. But The food makes up for it! Give it a try :-) and the price is pretty decent for what you are getting!

So I originally wrote that this is on the second floor of Focus Plaza. It’s not. It’s the one that’s in the same plaza with San Gabriel Supermarket. Sorry about that! It is the same chain though, so it’s not that big of a deal. I come to this one more than the one in Focus because I find parking to be easier here. And there’s no stairs involved. It is smaller and has a more old school feel here; the other one seems more renovated. But the noodles and dishes are the same quality. No complaints, only deliciousness. Guilin is a city in southern China that is notorious for its spicy chili sauce. Here, you get choose from a nonspicy, numbing spicy, or sour and spicy soup base. The toppings range from fish filets, beef, pork large intestines, pork stomach, etc. Each bowl ranges from $ 8 – 10, it’s not too shabby. What do you have to lose by trying it?

One word«AUTHENTIC» Dandan’s Guilin Rice Noodle is probably one of the few unique noodle places that offers an authentic taste from Southern China. I usually order the A1 need sour and spicy beef noodle soup or the A3 spicy beef noodle(no soup). The soup base is sour, spicy, and savory with just the right amount of salt(MSG). The soup also has Sichuan peppercorns that will make your mouth go numb which counter balances the spice of the food, which is something that makes the noodle dish so much more good. If you’re not used to this you’re going to complain. But trust me you’ll learn to love it. All the noodle portions are huge here, so don’t be surprised when you get your order. The beef is thinly slice and has a little gamy flavor to it. Which in my opinion adds onto to this place authenticity, because most of the beef you’ll be eating in China is also just as gamy. This gamy flavor might come to a shock to some people that aren’t used to the flavor, but I like it. I highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for something spicy and filling. Some people complain that the service sucks, but give the old Chinese lady a break, her English is limited and there’s only one waiter. But the whole point is to come here for the food, you’re only paying 8 bucks. If not just get take-out. Food: Authentic, Large portions. Prices: Cheap nothing exceeding $ 10 Customer Service: there’s only 1 waiter for this small joint and her English isn’t quite good, but your goal is to come here for the food. Tip: Try to pay in cash. Try to get the MALA noodles compared to the sour and spicy one. There is a choice. The MALA one is the one with the numbing Sichuan peppers.

The place is extremely dirty, food tasty funny. Waited 30 mins, finally had a waitress placed our order, even brought the wrong order. The beef seems expired. No service at all. Not recommended!

I was a big fan of this restaurant before when I was living there. Even after moving to Long Beach, I kept visiting there every two weeks. Therefore, I can feel any subtle change. Right now I can say this place is totally not worth to go. First, the food became horrible than before(making me feel I’m chewing paper); second, the service is as same as before(was bad but ok considering the food), you will feel ashamed if you pay with cards. And, Notice!!! YOUNEEDTOASKTHATYOUWANTTOHAVETHERCIEPTORTHEYWILLAUTOMATICALLYIGNORETHISPROCESSWHENYOUPAYWITHCARDS. I will never consider this restaurant again until they know how to run business and treat customers again.

I love the noodles here! I always order vegetarian spicy and sour soup noodles from here and the consistency is great. Very reasonable price for generous amount of food. I think it’s a good choice for a workday’s lunch.

This guilin noodle place is located at the corner of the San Gabriel superstore plaza. There is plenty of parking so no need to worry about that. This place accepts cash only but if you spend over $ 20 then they accept credit card. I always get the vegetarian rice noodle soup and it comes with carrots, green onions, cilantro and bean curd. The bean curd is like the hard, brown tofu that you sometimes get as an appetizer at some Taiwanese restaurants. I always get it spicy too, but let me tell you their spicy is super spicy! My mouth is always on fire & my body just sweats a lot whenever I get those noodles spicy. So beware if you plan on getting it spicy. My favorite thing to get here is their hot and spicy shredded bean curd, it’s kind of like shredded tofu skin. They have it on display right when you walk inside. It cost $ 4.99 by itself. I love the taste of hot oil and I really like the texture of the tofu. It could just be me, but I could eat it everyday. Both things all together cost me around $ 14! The portions that they give you are huge as well, their bowls are gigantic :) it’s well worth it. The food comes out really fast too if you order the noodle soups. Service is kind of hard to flag down because she’s always in the kitchen or near the cashier, but the place is so small that it’s not too hard to walk to the front.

This is my first review ever. I haven’t been this mad in so many years that I have to write it down. First, the food is good. I won’t complain about the food despite there are insects like flies flying around the restaurant. The problems are though, the services are disaster. I’m not saying they are impolite, but it’s hard to get things that are not money related. I asked for a to-go box. Even after we paid and everything, she still hasn’t given me. So the 3rd time i asked my friend is mad and raised his voice to complain, she finally went to get one for me. And this is not even the worse part. The worse part is they take orders carelessly, they rush it through, not even asking if you want spicy or not or to add anything. We have to remind them. Also, they keep asking and urging you to get extra things like drinks or snacks. And they sounded like those are free. For example, they don’t ask if you want something to drink, but«which do you want» didn’t even give us enough time to think she kind of just decided for us and went to get us the drinks. It was lunch so I thought was included but end up we were charged extra. It’s not the first time they make such false implications, everytime they made us order extra food or drinks that we didn’t want with the implication that those were included with what we ordered. The lemon tea doesn’t even taste good but she just said ‘oh i will get all of you lemon teas’ and gone into the kitchen. THEYDON’T EVENGIVEYOUWATER which again made me thought drinks were included during lunch. BECAREFUL. They are tricky in taking orders. Last thing, which was super rude. Tips are supposed to be a volunteery thing. I always give at least 10~15% and of course 20% when they are polite or provide good services. With all i said earlier, i don’t think they deserve tips but we still gave some. The woman, looked at the receipt, then in front of all other customers said loudly, «just __dollars for tips?» frown at us and made us put in more. Fine we gave slightly more than 10% at last(which at the time she STILLHAVEN’T given me the to-go box) You do not do your job and chat in the kitchen the whole time(people have to yell at least 3 times or go in the kitchen to get the server until they come out and ask what we need) only care about getting money and making us order more and even disgrace your customers. Yeah the food is good but we are definitely NOT coming back unless they train their waitresses(trust me I’ve been here enough to see the same attitudes and services of all their waitresses) or hire new ones. If you really want the food, order to-go. DONOTEATTHERE. If you really eat there, be clear about what you want and ask them if the things they order for you additionally is extra or comes with the meal Good luck

Decent spot for a good bowl of your favorite Guilin Noodle. It is not and I repeat it is not a place to bring your date because it is a hole in the wall. However if your looking for some good noodles with your buddies this is one spot to try. They don’t serve alcohol and the parking is okay.

The taste is great, all the expectations of numb numb noodles, it could have been 4 stars for that reSon, but the cold side dishes are not that cold and kinda suspect due to that reason, combined with the lack of cleanliness, makes me a little nervous to order those again. Stick to the hot and fresh cooked stuff. And don’t expect any kind of service, typical«Chinese Service» NO speeka ingleesh!

I am a hardcore Guilin rice noodle enthusiast. The noodle here remains around 70% of original taste. I would not call it authentic, but yet it still tastes good. Four stars.

My friend introduced me to this place after I told him I was craving something spicy. The beef with spicy noodle dish here has to be one of the most unique spicy dishes I’ve come across. The spiciness is pretty strong, kind of numbs your mouth, and is slightly salty at the same time. It satisfied my spiciness craving so 4-stars it is. Service is so-so. Cash only.

Err. it’s ok I guess. Food: While the menu and descriptions make the food sound like its bursting with crazy flavor, it’s not. Everything was kinda bland and tasted like something I could make myself. We ordered the highly recommended ultimate noodle( ). Seriously, the menu was like screaming out that we should order this dish and when the waitress came by she told us it was basically the only way to go. The descriptions on the menu are crazy. I think they advertised the ultimate unicorn as containing«crack and unicorn kisses»(it actually has lots of peanuts and slices of beef). To make a long story short, there wasn’t enough food in the bowl and it was super bland. It did have a different taste from what I’m used to, but it unfortunately didn’t taste particularly good. The ultimate noodle also comes with a bowl of broth( ), which also was pretty forgettable. The best thing about the meal was the fried rice cake( ). If I had to come back I’d probably just visit for dessert and get this. The cakes are crunchy and sticky, but they provide some sugar so you can coat them to your heart’s desire. Not easy to chew or swallow, but unique and satisfying. I also tried their jiaozi. They were ok. Atmosphere: The restaurant is sort of an odd shape and has this funky smell. When I came in I immediately wanted to leave. It’s not dirty or anything, but it kinda killed my appetite. Service: There is a language barrier here. Helps to know Mandarin. Synopsis: Meh. This is probably some type of Chinese food I don’t know much about, but in any case it wasn’t that good.

Spicy, tongue numbing bowl of noodles. Texture of the toppings are interesting. If you haven’t had Sichuan pepper or Pepper flower type food before, come here and try it out. It’s really a type of chinese cuisine that you don’t get the chance to try very often.

I love spicy. I consider myself pretty equipped to handle all types of spicy, from Szechuan to Cajun to Korean. Guilin noodles are a whole new level of spicy, one that I probably would not endure again. I can’t say if the food was tasty, because my entire mouth was numb from the spiciness. Granted, we were told by the waitress that it was a numbing type of spicy and that it would be pretty extreme. But 1⁄3 through the bowl and I couldn’t even feel my face anymore. I’m sure if I could actually taste the food beyond the spiciness it would’ve been decent. Couldn’t finish the bowl. The service here was pretty non-existent. They brought water, they took orders, they brought the food, they brought the check. We asked for refill on waters and it didn’t happen for a long time, and given the fact that our faces no longer had any sensation I needed that water. This is a small establishment and we were one of two tables that the waitress was serving, so not sure what the holdup was. Try if you dare. I think it took about an hour afterwards to get the feeling back in my face though(I kid).

The Ultimate Noodle(sour and spicy) is advertised to be made with«crack and unicorn kisses» and cost $ 8.99. Honestly, it tasted alright. The Gui Lin Mifen or rice noodles(Gui Lin specialty) was over cooked and soggy. But the spices, bacon, and beef were delicious. Our group also ordered sour and spicy dry beef noodle $ 5.99 and another sour and spicy beef soup noodle $ 5.99. In my opinion, these tasted better than their signature Ultimate Noodle bowl. Mostly because the mifen rice noodles were NOT overcooked and retained its texture. But, they all had the same underlining flavor and sauce. Service was poor, that lady has a serious tude, but whatever, its a chinese restaurant.
