Absolutely terrible service. Ordered combination plate, but told they were out of noodles. Asked if rice would be okay — that’s fine(surprised was charged extra, but whatever). Waiting for order for 10 minutes, when server asked to see my receipt. Then told rice would be another 20 minutes. Asked for refund since I didn’t have time to wait — then told only 10 minute so please wait… Order ready 16 minutes later. Never again.

I have been a fan of Yank Sing 2 Go for years. It’s consistently good dim sum. I also like the flavor balance of their ingredient ratios. This would be a five star rating if they would allow you to substitute the dessert option for something else of same value. I usually order the deem sum platter that comes with a custard pastry which I don’t eat so I end up giving it away to coworkers or throwing away(bums me out).

My coworker and I wanted to try the new hip place at One Rincon, but the line was extravagant. So we decided to eat at Yank Sing 2 Go. I ordered one of their pre-set entrée options, which had chow mien, a steamed pork bun, and an egg roll. I also ordered two sui mai a la carte. Everything was good, except for the chow mein. It absolutely had no flavor, not even with the meat. The egg roll was greasy, but that was expected. I enjoyed the sui mai which had pork and shrimp, and the steamed pork bun didn’t have too much fat. I can see this as the only option for quick Chinese food in the area. I suggest buying a la carte or any option that does not have chow mein. Not worth the money.

Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it. Lao Tzu Yank Sing 2 is the most expensive dim sum I have ever tried. Sadly it wasn’t the best dim sum I have ever tried. It is however the nicest place I have ever eaten take out. Seats and tables are arranged around what appears to be an artificial waterfall. As I sat down to eat there was the soft sound of water falling from the roof. It was a soothing sound between rain and a waterfall… steamed char sui bao — Nice light flavor from the pastry and delicious savory flavor from the chunks of char sui and the filling. Excellent! baked char sui bao — Baked pastry flavor is stronger perhaps a bit yeasty… Filling taste just as good as the steamed char sui bao. Very good. har gow — Good shrimp flavor. Not as juicy as I would have liked. Suspect it was sitting out for a awhile. Good. sui mei — Good blend pork, shrimp, and mushroom flavor. Nice and juicy. Very good. I will return for the delicious steamed char sui bao and the ambience. 3.5 stars.

It’s a decent amount of food for the price but the food wasn’t very good tbh. I got the veg delight and the noodles weren’t that flavorful, the dumpling was also lacking in flavor(tho maybe that’s how they r supposed to be?), and one of the 2 eggplant pieces was severely undercooked. Felt very raw to eat. Maybe it’s limited because it’s a «2 go» location but they could add some more veg items/options so we could have some choices.

Both places have had serious quality deterioration each year. the Singapore rice noodles do not contain anything but oil and soy-sauce; missing curry. the Sui mi is like glue balls.

This review is for Veg Delight that comes with veg chow mein, 2 veg dumplings and some veg eggplants sauteed in garlic soy sauce. The price is very reasonable considering the quantity of food you get. It was 1.5 lbs for little under $ 8 and I had it all ;) Can’t speak for meat-eaters at this place but if you are Veg lover, you should try this place because you definitely will enjoy the delicious veg delight combo. Don’t forget to take some hot and sweet n sour sauce. They don’t give you but it’s up for grab. Although this is a to go place, there’s a decent seating area outside where you mostly will find a seat.

We usually dine in but since we were having dinner at Roy’s in a few hours, we decided to get just a little something to tide us over until dinner time. Wow, talk about sticker shock. Extremely pricey for to-go food. Decided to get baked BBQ pork buns and crab claws. BBQ pork was a bit too sweet but the buns were huge. Crab was similarly huge and packed with a lot of meat. For 16 pieces, 1 bun and 1 claw for each person, the bill was $ 84, if I remember correctly. That’s over $ 5 for each piece! Food was supremely delicious but yikes! Combo specials were a better deal than the a la carte dim sum we ordered. 4 stars for the deliciousness but definitely not a casual, weekend«feeling like some dim sum, let’s drop by» kind of place.

The food is the same as that which you get at the sit down restaurant, Yank Sing. Unfortunately, the prices are pretty much the same too. The only item that you can get which I think is actually a pretty good deal is the dim sum platter, which was about $ 10 and came with plenty of dim sum for one person. We stopped by here during Pride weekend when all of the lines at the restaurants in downtown were out the door and the waits were super long. The service was fast and efficient, if not particularly friendly. We were also able to snag a few tables outside that were self-bussing. The food is definitely better than a Panda Express.

Recommendation: A good quantity of decent food for the money, a quick line and quick service. I’d recommend if you’re hungry or in a rush! TIP: Your order number(the one they call out) is the last few digits of the number in BOLD on your receipt(see picture) so be listening for that! TIP: To-Go containers mix contents very easily, so hold it level! I went to Yank Sing today to grab some take-out for lunch with friends. When I got inside, I was a little confused as to where the line was and where to stand, but it appeared that the line to order started a little bit inside the door and past the people milling around waiting for their food. The line moved very quickly! The menu is posted up above head height and has pictures and an itemized list of everything included in the six choices for meals. I ordered the Seafood Supreme, which came with 3 dumplings, 2 cheese wontons, and a serving of Vegetable Chow Mein. I waited around 5 minutes to be helped(the line was rather long) but the transaction took less than 30 seconds, and in another 5 minutes I had my meal. It was nice and speedy, and because all the serving dishes are in full view, I was able to watch the whole process! They put the food in a 3 section container and then inserted the container, a napkin, and a fork into a paper bag and then called out my order number. The food was delicious! The chow mein was a little oily/greasy but was delicious, with a healthy amount of fresh, crunchy vegetables. There was also a TON of it! I was super full after eating lunch and still had about a third of the chow mein left to eat(which made for a great dinner). The cheese wontons were pretty good, but I didn’t really know what to expect as I hadn’t had them before. The dumplings were superb! Each one had a distinct texture and flavor to it, and I had very little to complain about. My only problem was that I didn’t realize the container wasn’t fully partitioned, so I was a little careless with keeping it level. Upon opening it, the chow mein was spread across everything! Beyond that though, everything was great. All in all, I’d definitely recommend this place for lunch. It had good, fresh food, and did Chinese food pretty well without trying to reinvent the wheel. The service was prompt and courteous, and the price was reasonable. I’m definitely going to be going back!

The only thing worth getting here are the custard egg tarts. They are exactly the same as the ones at Yank Sing next door for a fraction of the price. Everything else is not the same quality as Yank Sing. Although cheaper, I wouldn’t eat lunch here again.

The sit down version of this restaurant is good, but I always regret going to this one. It’s a «quantity over quality» kind of place. You get a ton of food for 9 – 10 $, but the noodles are always super bland. Most of the dim sum items are pretty good, so maybe just get the dim sum platter?..

I heard about this place being super great. Maybe the actual sit down place is good but the takeout. Do yourself a favor and save your money. I ordered a dim sum platter which came with siu mai, pork bun, egg tart, siu mai with chives and an egg roll. A friend of mine had gotten some fried rice combination. We also got some shrimp dumplings. This is completely overpriced! the shrimp dumpling were 6 dollars for 4 of them. You can to good mon kok on Stockton and get it for 1.90. All the dim sum was dry, not juicy whatsoever! The egg roll had no flavor and the pork bun was cold. The fried rice had ZERO flavor. I honestly don’t know what was good at this place. There was a line so we figured that it might be worth the wait and the restaurant got such good ratings. FALSE! I am never going back here. It’s very possible that the actual restaurant might be better. But to charge that high of a price for what we got. No Thanks!

Had the Seafood Supreme combo. Noodles were not good. They were dry and lacked flavor. The dim sum, however, was really good. Even though they were small, they tasted a whole lot better than the chow mein. Skip the noodles, just get a platter of dim sum and you’ll be ultra satisfied.

The cleanest tasting Chinese food I’ve ever had !! They are pricier than Chinatown, but well worth it! Irene is my favorite host and the other ladies are great as well! The dim sum is A++++!! I am extremely selective about the taste of my pot stickers. It is hard for me to go to a Chinese restaraunt and enjoy their stickers but Yank Sing is the solution to MY sticker problem! The egg tarts are a force to be reckon with, as well as the baked pork bun! They do not serve a surprising, un-identifiable filling. just sliced pork with sweet filling and a sweet sticky bun ! The shrimp sui mui is a must try! The noodles are simple and tasty! Yank Sing is The best choice for clean Chinese food! Food addicts beware!!!

I was here for a business meeting. The crew recommends the«2 Go» experience over dining in because of the price. I got the Seafood Combo, or whatever it is called. I saw other Unilocalers saying it’s from $ 5.95? That’s gone and my coworker said«Oh prices went up.» Hmm… When I opened the box, the Lo Mein took over 90% of the box, with one piece of Shrimp Dumpling, 2 Scallop Dumplings, and 2 Crab Rangoons. The dim sum was OK, not bad not good. But the Lo Mein is one of the worst noodles I have had for a long time. The Lo Mein noodles are black in color, but I can’t taste Soy Sauce. So what did they use? And of course I was still hungry after lunch. Super Duper Burgers here I come!

One of the biggest complaints I’ve heard about Yank Sing is that they’re overpriced for dim sum, and that it’s nothing special given what you pay. Yank Sing 2 Go is ok, value wise, if you only get one plate, but if you start adding a la carte items, you’ll start to understand what all the complaints are about. I got the phoenix plate, which had a giant serving of fried rice and chow mein, a spring roll, siu mai, and two potstickers, and wanted to add two baked pork buns and two steamed pork buns to my order. They only had the small baked pork buns when I went in the afternoon, which come three to an order, so I did one order of those and two steamed pork buns. My total came out to a little over $ 20, and I didn’t even order a drink. While the portion size for the fried rice and chow mein was very generous, the chow mein wasn’t the greatest; I think the noodles may have been hand-pulled, but they were also a bit tough, as though they had either been overcooked or had been sitting for a long time. The fried rice was pretty good and had quite a lot of meat, but the potstickers were forgettable. The spring roll was also incredibly oily, and I usually don’t find myself complaining about anything being too oily, anywhere. When I took my mountainous plate of rice and noodles back to my table, I realized that I didn’t have the siu mai or the postickers; I took the plate back and asked one of the workers for the missing dim sum items, and the woman rudely snatched the plate, started yammering about how I shouldn’t «tip the plate,» and shook it around to show me that the items had been buried — literally — underneath the rice and the noodles, effectively making them soggy and not quite as good as they may have been otherwise. After shoving it under my nose she walked away without another word, which was rude in itself but annoying given that I wasn’t the dope who threw the plate into my takeout bag sideways, burying food underneath piles of more food. The standouts were the pork buns; I liked the baked pork buns more than the steamed, but they were actually much better when I let them sit for a couple of hours for the bbq pork to become more solid within the dumpling. The steamed pork buns are huge, by the way, bigger than I’ve ever had anywhere. I really wish I had noticed that that week’s special was Mongolian Beef over steamed rice with a potsticker — I may have found myself more satisfied than with a place of starches that I payed over $ 20 for. I may go back for the pork buns, but not for the overpriced Chinese food that’s just ok and the attitude problems I can live without. I’ve had way more food, and better food, in Oakland’s Chinatown for less.

Good Chinese food. Quick service. Large portions. All for a reasonable price. I’ve heard that this place gets super busy on weekdays. If you have more time, it might be worthwhile to check out the sit-down restaurant area. The foyer leading to it also has a sort of waterfall thing where the water falls from the ceiling wayyy up there. If you’re short on time, the take-out area next to the main restaurant is a great way to go. For Chinese take-out, I wouldn’t expect 5-star quality food. But the food here was pretty good — I had the Singapore noodles dish(Combo 3) which came with some dim sum and a spring roll and sweet breads that I have yet to try — the serving was large enough to make two meals for me :) The service was friendly, and fast and efficient. Great place to go to to grab a quick lunch to go. Or there’s seats in the food court if you’re planning on sticking around.

Not bad… if you’re trying to get a quick lunch to go, this might be worth it. They have various sets that you can choose from that ranges from $ 5.95-$ 8.95. Got the Express for $ 7.95 which includes the chow mein(salty and noodles are too al dente), 1 pot sticker, 1 bbq pork bun and 1 egg roll. The MSG is kicking my arse at work. Falling… asleep…zzz…

I heard that Yank Sing had the best shanghai soup dumplings(xiao long bao) in San Francisco but I wasn’t prepared to pay three times the normal cost of dim sum per person. Instead, we went express and tried their take out at Yank Sing 2 which is right next door. Yes, it was expensive. The cost was $ 13 for six baos which is more than twice the price that I’m used to paying for xiao long bao but after one bite, I was able to taste the difference. The wrapping was thin and the bao was still full of the rich flavorful broth. Those six bao were quickly devoured in literally a couple of minutes and it was delicious. Dim sum shouldn’t be this expensive but the taste and quality is there. Being in the business district of downtown San Francisco, Yank Sing definitely caters to a certain demographic. I would come back as long as someone else is paying or I would just order to go from Yank Sing 2.
