Wyndham Canterbury at San Francisco

The establishment is good but the Time Share people are aggressive in getting your information and you money but will give you a hard time in getting your money back. First they will say that they can’t find your name, you information, etc. yet they already took the money from your bank account. When I said I can’t attend their presentation because of a family engagement, they tried to talk to me by offering more incentives and I keep on telling them that my family comes first. No incentive is enough for my family. I am in the establishment not because I want a Time Share, I am in the establishment to spend time with my family. Yet they still don’t want to cancel — they’re still trying to talk me in attending the presentation so I had to ask them is a presentation more important than their family?
I wonder how many guests they didn’t refund coz 10 guests on $ 20 is $ 200 a day and we know that 10 guests and $ 20 are low numbers.

Horrible experience. They get one star because the room itself was actually quite nice.
The rest of my experience with this place was horrendous. After traveling all day, I got here and they could not find my reservation. They had charged me a night’s stay in advance, but yet they had no record of my reservation? Funny how that worked. It took almost half an hour to get it straightened out, even though I had a confirmation number. Oh, and this is a time share. Since I wasn’t given a free or discounted room, I thought I would be exempt from the time share spiel. Wrong. As soon as they finally got me checked in, I was shuffled over to the time share desk. The woman over there was beyond pushy to the point of being intrusive. I finally just walked away from her.
There is no housekeeping (unless you want to pay extra for it) and there are no on-​site dining options. Valet parking is $ 31/​day; however, the valet is not on duty 24/​7, so if you have an early flight, you have to find and retrieve your own vehicle. Had to wait for a copy of my bill at checkout because the only clerk was on a break. Oh, and they could not produce a copy of the bill that included the pre-​paid night.
I will commute in from another part of town before I’ll stay here again.

My parents have a Wyndham time share and though my parents and brother live in the Bay Area sometimes we take a night or two to stay in sf just for fun. I’ve also stayed at this hotel for my bachelorette party.
I love the location of this place first of all. Walking distance to so many places– food and shopping. Also the rooms are wonderful! Really spacious, and not loud from the traffic outside. Also the front desk is really helpful.
I’ve stayed in many places in sf and I would say this place is solid. Though I’ve been to places with more beautiful rooms and I heard the other Wyndham has a cooler vibe to it, when figuring out where to stay in sf, I always check out the Canterbury in my list of hotels to research since I know I can’t go wrong with it.

Lovely property in a great location. A small group of 3 of us stayed here at our relative’s timeshare on a Saturday night. Everything in the 1 bedroom unit was polished, updated and modern. Fully equipped kitchen with all the appliances flatware and silverware you could need. In-​unit washer dryer with detergent. The king bed was so comfortable and there was a pull out sofa bed. We were on the 2^nd floor but not street side so it was very quiet and peaceful.
Just a few blocks from Union Square, Chinatown with tons of restaurants and shopping!
Would definitely stay here again!

Good location. Quality finishes. However, the hardest mattress. And if you don’t stay in the Presidential Suite rooms, you can only get a queen size bed. There should be a king in every room that has a single bed, for the cost of a room there. Along with being on the street side of the hotel, with a lot of road noise, didn’t get a good night sleep. I second the comment about the time it takes to for the valet to get your car. They say 15 minutes. Expect 30.

I’m only giving one star because I have to put something. I believe this entire place is a scam. They offered us free parking for attending a presentation about their property, the presentation got cancelled on their end of things. We ended up paying for parking even though they cancelled and when we tried to reschedule. Stay away from anything associated with this property. The property is nice, however, the business practices associated with this place is extremely poor. It’s all a sales pitch, they only want to sell, they don’t care about you or the concept of vacation. My friends and I are more than dissatisfied with our situation. You can stay somewhere better. Garrett, Lauren and Corrine are the names of those we dealt with who promised us the gifts only to turn around and deny us what was promised due to their shady business practices. I am contacting the better business bureau because I have a feeling that it’s not just this location that practices like this.

What a great little gem. The Wyndham Canterbury is in a great location. I stumbled across this on VRBO. After we checked in on Thursday around 4 pm, they gently guided us over to the guest service counter to set us up for the «free breakfast and presentation.» I felt like they were a bit pushy about trying to get us locked into a day and time to have the timeshare presentation. I came to the city to see family, so trying to explain why I was not going to «lock» in a time was kind of a hassle. The facility itself is BEAUTIFUL. Polished. Clean. Nicely decorated. It presents different than what it looks like on the outside. The building is a sort of mustard yellow, so I was pretty surprised when we walked in and saw the inside. The room is great! Were were put on the 9^th floor and it’s quite! The room/​hotel is obviously newly renovated. I don’t think the Cuisinart coffee maker has ever been used. The mini kitchen has a bar sized sink, mini fridge, mini dishwasher, and all the other kitchen amenities… pots/pans/dishes/blender/etc…so it’s great for families or if your planning a long stay. There is also a Media/​Entertainment room with a pool table, computers, DVD’s and Wii. There is a complimentary laundry facility on certain floors, and a well equipped fitness center. There is valet parking for $ 31 a day.
Over all, it’s beautiful and the price is right. It’s in a great location.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon at 3 (about a $ 50 taxi ride from the airport) and we had requested a quite room. The room they had for us wasn’t quite ready but if we were willing to be closer to Sutter Street, they had a room ready so we said ok. They took our luggage without asking and the bellhop accompanied us up to our room.
The room was the end of the hall on the 7^th floor. It seemed new and lovely. When we went in the room the dining room was to the left and kitchen area with a mini fridge, coffee machine, microwave, dishwasher, and sink. It’s nice and handy to have dishes available to use. Under the sink was dish soap, dishwasher soap, and soap for the washing machine.
The washer and dryer are on odd floors so it was the opposite end of the hallway.
The sofa was a queen pull out bed and there’s was a TV on top of the dresser. They have a tablet on the side table if you want to browse what’s in the hotel (I think, I didn’t pay much attention to it).
To the right of the front entrance was a bathroom with a shower (no tub) and the bedroom. It was also great there’s a safe in the closet in the bedroom too. The closet had a laundry basket, and broom.
Because we were there in the afternoon, I didn’t find it too noisy, only from the cars below. But, I soon find the weekend noise travels up to the room. On a Saturday, I could hear people talking and yelling on the street below until 2:30. Maybe we should have waited for the other room. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper and room is close to Sutter.
Free wifi for up to 4 devices was good and reliable most of the time, especially when all 4 devices were in use.
Downstairs, they have a computer and games room. In the computer room, you can borrow DVDs to watch in the room or use one of the two computers (there’s a printer which was great). The games room has a pool table and I think Wii too but we didn’t go in there. There’s also a decent gym. In the mornings, they offer free coffee and tea, and cucumber water is available until about 9:30PM. There’s also a set of clean washrooms.
This hotel was mostly great, except for a few of the annoying and aggressive staff at the concierge desk. I would ask one question and they would right away ask my name and what day I checked in and if I wanted to go for a free breakfast/​lunch to hear about the perks of being a Wyndham owner. Some of the staff were ok but there were 2 women that I would avoid.
Great location and we walked everywhere. About 20 minutes to Japantown, 15 minutes to Chinatown, and 45 minutes to Fisherman’s Wharf.

Nice place, I’d stay here again. Beware of the hard sell after you check in. They walk you over to the concierge, and that’s when your brain goes from «this seems nice» to «ick». Had that not been the case, I’d give it 4 stars.

Very nice hotel overall., but if you need your car brought up from the valet make sure you ask for it half hour in advance. They tell you it will take 10 – 15 mins but I’m writing my review 20 minutes and counting from the moment I called the front desk, and still no car!!! They should get a better system where they call your room once your car is out front.

Great location where classic flair and updated charm meet.
The newly renovated Canterbury Presidential Suite is elegantly decorated, comfortable, spacious and offers everything for a pleasant stay. Loved the kitchen and appliances which made cooking even more enjoyable. Nice collection of movies for children available at no cost.
WIFI service, even the Premium one was disappointing.
Welcome Kit was provided the day before checking out which did not make it so useful nor beneficial.

Got a really good deal on
for 3 nights for $ 800 in March. I really didn’t know what to expect other than knowing that it’s central to everything and walking distance to union square. When we got there it was a little late, after 8pm. The valet guy was there opened the doors and asked if we needed any help, we didn’t know where to park so we just asked if we could check in first and get the scoops before deciding to valet.
The front desk was extremely nice, checked us in and gave us the option of parking at a garage which is a block away or valet for $ 30/​day. I for sure didn’t want to walk a block everyday and it parking at the garage was a in and out fee and that was going to be an issue because we didn’t know how often we would go out. I think valet was he best choice, they are there pretty late as well and it comes straight to the front doors. The front desk also offered my cranky 3 year old some cookies, so from there on he always asked for cookies and they were always so generous. The lobby is huge with a nice comfy seating area and complimentary coffee and water.
This is a time share so do not expect for house cleaning daily. Let me just list all the pros about this place…

Yes I would definitely come back again, the star missing is for the squeaky bed. But other than that it’s a luxury hotel without the heavy price tag.

Stayed here a few days ago for a birthday getaway trip with two of my girlfriends. My Grandmother has been a Wyndham timeshare owner since I can remember and all of their properties have been great. I know the drill on the sales pitch so I say no from the get go and they don’t bother you much after that.
The staff was great (we loved Enrique, the gentleman that brought up our bags)! There was a strange beeping when we first got into our newly renovated 2 bedroom presidential suite. When we got back from running around it was fixed. We wanted an auxiliary cord to play music and the staff brought us one in a matter of minutes. The hotel is gorgeous and conveniently placed in the city. Will definitely stay here next time I visit. It was quiet at all times.

Great location especially if you want to be near shopping. Walking distance to Union Square and China Town. BART is also near by and easy to walk to. I live in the bay area and love SF so it’s hard to give it 5 stars, simply because it’s not my personal favorite area of SF.
We stayed here for free for a weekend because my husbands boss couldn’t make their stay and let us stay in their timeshare. The room we stayed in was huge! Comfortable bed, clean, and quiet. The front desk and doorman were extremely friendly and know the area and can recommend a lot of great activities to do in the area if it’s your first time visiting. We didn’t need that, but it’s great to know that they have employees that know the area really well.
Oh someone mentioned in their review that the mouthwash that they provide taste like tequila. I agree and will also have to warn you: DO NOT USE THE MOUTHWASH AFTER A NIGHT OF DRINKING, YOU WILL THROW UP.
They are a little pushy at trying to get you to sit through their presentation, but hey it’s their job to get you to buy a timeshare with them, but that can be a little frustrating.

My parents have a timeshare with Wyndham, so if you’re reading this please take note, «timeshare.» Of course they will try to get you to buy because it is also a business. I have a great idea for those of you not interested, just say, «No,» and stand firm. Works for me every time! Now for the review.
This is a really great property! The front staff was friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff was friendly as well! We had a two bedroom unit and it had a lot of space. I love having a kitchen because it’s nice to take your time in the morning, and drinking coffee and eating in your pajamas. We were on the 10^th floor and noise was minimal… but you did hear the normal city noise like horns and some loud people.
I only had a few issues. Cold air came through the large gap under the front door, which I was able to cover. The coffee maker stopped working, but they replaced it promptly. The wifi stopped mid-​morning but we were leaving so no biggie. Oh, and there was not enough counter space in the 2^nd bathroom. Other than that, it was a great place to stay and can’t wait to return. It is away from the Union Square noise, but close enough to walk everywhere; Union, Chinatown, North Beach, public transportation to farther parts of the city.
I look forward to staying here again. Friends of ours stayed at the Westin St. Francis and for what they paid, they could’ve stayed here with a lot of room to move around.

I found this hotel online as a special deal… It was literally $ 100 less a night than ANY other hotel in Union Square so I was a bit hesitant to book…
Upon arrival we were greeted with outstanding hospitality and knowledge of the city. The ladies at check in and concierge were extremely helpful and were genuinely excited to share this city with us!!!
Our hotel room was lovely — I only wish it had a bathtub. But that’s ok! We stayed 2 nights and had a very enjoyable experience.
I would absolutely recommend this hotel to a friend and I would stay here again!

We have stayed at this Wyndham property for 3 – 4 visits to SF now, and it’s long overdue that I write a review.
This place is a hidden gem in SF. Huge rooms. Amazing location — walkable to everything. Helpful staff. Good amenities (gym, business center, fun room), especially for SF.
The rooms are great. There’s a main room with a full kitchen, dining table, and four chairs. There is stylish art throughout. Then, there’s a nice living room with a view and a flat screen TV. Attractive houndstooth carpeting. Plentiful drawer and closet space. The bedroom is quiet and super comfy. Air conditioning cold and crisp. Overall. This is our favorite place to stay in SF. We will be back ASAP!
Only thing missing is a hot tub or pool.

We love the Wyndham Canterbury. Stay here every year for DreamForce. Awesome staff, coffee and one of my favorite neighborhoods. Great food in walking distance and close enough to sketchy areas to keep you alert.

HORRIBLE TV controls — get new ones. THE WORST TASTING MOUTHWASH ON THE PLANET. Have you ever had mouthwash that tastes like Tequila? Stay here and you will.

Answer: $ 30.00 exactly.
Clarification: Not $ 30 for each family member. But $ 30 for all of five members.
Another Clarification: «We should be happy about that amount!» we were told by several Marketing Employees (imagine hearing that)

After receiving the worst guest experience and being tossed around from person-​to-​person to get resolution, we were told by Mr. Buck Taylor that we are only worth $ 30.00 for our troubles. We went to the city for this event and the day was ruined because of this experience.

What a find.
Relative to similarly priced hotel options in SF, our 1 bedroom suite exceeded expectations in terms of size and aesthetics. Plenty of amenities including free reliable guest wifi. Extremely quiet at night, despite being in the tenderloin. Parking is $ 31 overnight valet. Be sure to call the valet ahead to let you know when the car is ready as there may be a 15−20+ minute wait. The staff was friendly and accommodating enough to give us 4 guest cards.
