Win Long Hardware & Supply

I went in yesterday to buy a micro usb charger yesterday for a console controller and asked the employee working if I could return it, if it didn’t fit my controller, since I wasn’t sure it would. She said yes, and to try and carefully open the package in case I had to do a return. So I carefully opened the package, but it didn’t fit. So, today, I came back to return it and the person working today went OFF on me about how they’re a small business (which, trust me, I understand) and how they can’t be taking things back just because they don’t work. I calmly explained to her what happened the day before, and what the employee said, and she continued to go off on me about it and call me ridiculous for the remainder of my time there, in which I didn’t say another word to her, and just left. I know it sucks being a small business owner but that’s no way to treat a customer. It’s one of the only hardware stores in the part of town I live in, but after my experience today I’d rather take my business elsewhere.

I have lived in the neighborhood for 11 years. I have done some plumbing work, electrical, and even installed cabinets and doors in the years here. As a DIY kind of guy, I need quick access, to obscure as well as everyday hardware.
These guys have always been able to offer at least three different kinds of everything I need. I never search for what I want. Just ask whoever works the counter, and they not only know exactly what I’m talking about, but exactly where it can be found.
I don’t know what kind of communication skills some of the negative Unilocalers for this place have employed. The staff here have always been informative, yes maybe a little frank, but I’m not looking for a new best friend, just stem bolts or fuses.
They have less here than HomeDepot and Builder Supply downtown, but it’s just a corner hardware store. They have an above average selection. I do agree it is not displayed very neatly, but again they can tell you where it is so finding it should take 45 seconds.
As for price comparisons, large retailers always have better prices because they buy in large bulk, and receive discounts whole sale. For basic stuff their prices are competitive. If you are looking for some really specialized/​designer tools, fancy bulbs or housewares go to home depot. If you need a tank kit to repair a toilet, self driving screws, a replacement screen for a door, even potting soil, rubber gloves, light bulbs (that $ 20 story is uncharacteristic of my experiences), or the infamous keys cut, they have it waiting for you.
This is a simple neighborhood, family owned and operated, convenient store. They don’t go out of their way to impress you, or distress you. They have what they have at reasonable prices and have served me and this community for over a decade. All you haters, get over yourselves.

Excellent selection for all your household needs. You really can’t beat their prices either, I’m actually surprised that it could be inexpensive. I went in knowing what I wanted and came out with much more I could use and way under budget. Love the location as well.

Anything you need, this place has it. It’s a hardware store-​CVS hybrid. They also make copies of keys for just $ 1.50, can’t beat that.

Win Long Hardware is packed to the gills with household wares and hardware supplies. place is too clastrophobic for me.

This is the MOST unorganized hardware store I’ve ever been to. The employees don’t know where to find things, never mind asking them a technical DIY question. Maybe it’s great if you just need a key copy but if you need anything more STAY AWAY.

I needed keys. They made copies as fast as it will take you to read this review. And the keys worked. I recommend it.

Got keys done. $ 4.99 for three keys, much cheaper than my cousin who got it done for $ 6 for two keys. It was quickly done and the keys worked great. Prices are definitely higher for a few other things I scouted out than your Walmart or Target. But for price, convenience and quality — not too bad. I would scout the Ichiban down a couple blocks to see if there are cheaper items first.

I’ve been here a couple times and always find something new that i thought I did not need. Prices are real cheap and the staff is very friendly. One of the best hardware stores in San Fran I’d say

I’m fond of these Chinese trading company stores. Probably because they have EVERYTHING you need.
Thus far I’ve bought a T6 torx screwdriver (part of an all-​in-​one cell phone screw driver kit) and a lint roller.

The woman at this store is whacko! My friend and I went to get a key made and to pick up a few items. We received a call from my friend’s brother just as the woman turned on the machine that he no longer needs the key made. The lady told me it’s too late even though we knew she hasn’t begun sawing the new key. I was disappointed in her integrity and after we paid the lady I told my friend I wanted to pick up the other items else where. That lady came out onto the street to yell at us. She yelled at us and called us names and I know for sure she said, «GARBAGE». My friend and I found that to be ironic as that’s what we call stores like hers… selling a bunch of junk and garbage that nobody needs.
Overall, it was a horrible experience and although I feel sorry for this lady’s husband, I don’t feel sorry for her as she is sneaky and CREEPY. Ugh.

I needed keys made.
Now I have zebra and blue leopard print house keys.
They were nice, it was fast, it was cheap.

1 star for the convenience of the store. being local and such.
1 star for the staffers for knowing their products and where they could be found.
I had to replace a weird CFL light bulb that came from my bathroom light fixture. I walked in with the sample, and the gentlemen showed me where the bulbs were. I asked what the price was since I couldn’t find it. he found it and said $ 20. WHAT?! For a light-​bulb? I needed 2, and wasn’t about to drop $ 40 hard-​earned dollars on light bulbs.
So I check on-​line for the bulbs. Amazon sold them for $ 9.95 and then I went to Home Depot. The bulbs were only $ 6.47 at Home Depot. Wow. I bought them without hesitating at all.
If you HAVE to go here then by all means do what you have to do. But if you can wait, and would want to save some money. in my case $ 27, then wait and go to Home Depot.

Still really good service. I bought the wrong light switch thingy two days ago, and was able to make an exchange by paying the difference. :] also made a key for my hon to mi casa, I hope he doesnt rob my house.

I’m glad I saw this place on Unilocal.It’s closer, a lot more personable than Home Depot, and I found my flush lever, at $ 3.79 it was a cheap fix.
I’m happy I was able to easily fix it myself instead of asking my landlord to come all the way out from Sebastapol. Win Long also saved me a drive to a big box in Colma — a win for the environment, my pocket book and it’s always great to support a local business. Thank you for being there ~ long live Win Long!

I needed a drain cover for the sidewalk drain in front of my home.
I walked in to the store and was like OMG! How am I going to find it? I asked the guy at the front and he was like last aisle, halfway down, to the right.
LOL.
Sho nuff it was there!
This place has everything! Everything but food. Doilies, nail clippers, chains, light bulbs, sanding paper, candles, … I could go on forever.

Not everyone duplicates specialty car keys, they do here and at about ²⁄₃ the cost compare to others who cuts specialty car keys. Their price is really fair for rekeying locks too and they can do on-​site for you bring in your lock.
My best friend use to run this shop and glad when he passed away, his wife and brother-​in-​law has successfully continued the business. I know that my friend is proud of their continued dedication to the hardware business. I like window shopping when I stopby to visit… they’ve got so much stuff everywhere!

Called on a Sunday, with mixed expectations based on the half and half reviews prior to mine.
Asked if they had Coaxial cable and Cable TV splitters, and got a simple yes. No language barrier issues, no rudeness.
As everyone else has stated,
Plus open til 7 on a SUNDAY. That’s pretty cool.

Win Long is a winner. You wouldn’t expect them to have 5 sizes of ravioli cutters among their eclectic assorment of kitchen gadgetry, but they do.
Today I bought 7 sizes, shapes and styles of picture hangers. Yep, it’s pretty much a wonderland at Win Long, and every bit as fun and rewarding as a trip to your more boutiquey hardware/​houseware store.
