I had a good experience here today that I feel a good review is due for this store. Today I had contractors working on my house but they forgot to bring some 3−½″ screws to do the job. With only 3−½″ specs I went here to buy those screws. I bought all that was lefted on their shelf and went to paid for it. I remember looking at the pinpad screen and verified the total cost around $ 31. I forgot or wasn’t thinking that I had $ 10 worth of change back and walked out. As I walked ¼ block I heard somebody calling behind me. To my surprise the cashier had ran out to give me my $ 10 change and apologized that he didn’t give me quickly.
A simple customer services like this renew my faith in humanity. This is something that I used to do myself when I was a cashier but I don’t see too many people cares nowadays. The new thinking is more like if the customer realizes it or cares then they will come back!
I’m glad he is not like that. I don’t know his name but he is the guy with a beard and mustache.
By the way the contractor told me I bought the wrong screws because my was too thick and will cracked the woods that he is working on. My fault for not asking and also contractor fault for not giving me more info.
Anyway I feel a little embarrass to return it for refund, so I return it and asked for credits toward purchasing some other items in the store that I know I can use.

$ 1.99 for a regular key, only $ 2.16 with tax! You hand them your original key, they make it in less than a minute! Woot woot, gotta love this place!

I decide to go here to get some wood cut to turn my ironing board cabinet into a spice cabinet. I found some kind of pine plywood and asked the guy ahead if I could have some squares cut out of wood that was around ½″ or so thick. The guy said yes and upon getting there he pulls out a handsaw and tried free handing it. I knew it wouldn’t work but he went at it and messed up the wood completely. I was annoyed because after he was looking at me funny and expected me to basically buy the piece of wood he messed up. I paid $ 8 to watch him destroy a crappy piece of ruined plywood and walked out. I will never go back again. I headed back to my old ace in the inner Richmond because they have an actual table saw which was appropriate for what I wanted. The attitude really made me feel like crap like I broke something in the store and was being asked to pay for it. Don’t mess something up and expect someone to pay for it. Anyone who can work a saw knows the one he was using was for 2×4’s not shitty plywood. He should have just said he didn’t have the right equipment.

I think this is the 9pm Ace hardware store. Don’t know why they change the name here. Richard is a very knowledgable guy. he always gives me great advices when I don’t know what to buy.

This place has it all!
This is no home depot, it is so much more! I actually feel comfortable coming in here and am confident that I will find exactly what I need and also that I will get the help that I need. The customer service is excellent and they are willing to explain everything step by step and make things really easy to understand. They have helped me with so many projects around my house, everything from helping me mix paint colors when I brought in some samples to teaching me how to install fluorescent light bulbs.
I recommend this place to anyone who has always avoided doing work around the house because they had no idea where to start!

I believe I’d previously reviewed this as Ace Hardware, but since then they went by a new name. So it doesn’t hurt to write another quick review.
ever since I started owning my place not too far from here, I find this to be a great neighborhood hardware store to visit from time to time for things around the house. In fact, this was my business I chose to shop at during last November’s American Express Small Business Saturday promotion. Often, I make purchases when there’s an email promotion for bonus points or discounts thru the Ace frequent shopper program.

Richard and crew have been patiently and politely going out of their way to accommodate my often unusual hardware needs for many years now. If I could somehow find a way to combine their staff and location with Center Hardware’s stock I would probably just put up a cot in the storeroom and move right in.

Save time and money and go there for great service! don’t waste time and gas driving and looking for things in a giant warehouse with no one to help you. local business, convenient location and very nice helpful professionals! They even showed me how to assemble flourescent lights that didn’t come with instructions, etc. Both me and my husband go there separately and every time get great service!

A neighborhood hardware store that has packed with most household items you will need. It has a couple of everything. I needed to pick up a wooden stick of a specific size, and they had one! Same price if you go to any other Ace Hardware or Creative Paint & Hardware and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

These guys are nice and knowledgeable. I have come here many times over the years. Once I bought some baby safety items and they didn’t fit or didn’t work

This little store has just about everything for the diy. I needed some plumbing parts and the older gentleman (who must be the owner) climbed up the stairs with me to get the right part. The workers there have greatly improved over the last few years and getting help is what customer service is all about. I love this store and like to go browsing. They also take in my old cfl’s without question and never a dirty look.
This is a great neighborhood ACE store. I’ve returned things in the past and never had an issue (you do need to follow their return policy on certain items). Keys are always accurately cut. Thanks!

Staff here is nice. They are knowledgeable on the phone and in person.
I had a key made in less than 2 minutes, costing less than $ 2.00, and it worked perfectly.

Dunno why, but my best friend at the time wanted a copy of his house key. We were getting takeout somewhere, and we decided to come here to get a key. It literally took less than 5 minutes, and we were out of there with his new key and all. I guess he wanted a new one because there was the choice of a green key. :P
Quick service, and the guy who made the key was friendly. Yay!

Hard to *really* complain about a hardware store unless the employees are just gigantic douchebags or buckets fall on your head or there’s poop in the aisle.
This place is a perfectly good, independent, mom&pop hardware shop. I like to support mom&pop shops — I think it’s good for the economy, good for the little man etc — so I do tend to give them a little more leeway, full disclosure.
This place was very close to where I was staying, parking seemed okay (this is San Francisco, and all). The aisles are pretty small but clean enough and organized.
Now if you go there and there’s an old Chinese man working behind the counter, don’t bother asking him where something is. He’s very sweet but won’t be any help. Instead, look for the young Asian dude working. He’s SUPER helpful. I basically handed him my list of items I needed and he grabbed a basket and dumped everything in there for me.
The prices are just a smidge lower than what you’d pay at a Home Depot/​OSH.
Oh and they make keys. It costs $ 1.25 per key and takes less than 10 minutes.

Dear 9 PM Ace Hardware,
you guys have way too much time on your hands. May I kindly suggest that you stop following your youth customers around as if they intend to steal! Believe it or not, we will be your main customers in the future and you are doing a damn good job CHASING them away. Really though?! WTF would we steal. Propane gas tanks or broomsticks?! I’ve been here several times and you guys assume the same thing everytime. From now on I will go out of my way and go to Home Depot, where they treat all their customers equally and have outstanding customer service. Learn a thing or two.

Ive come here a few times since I started to build my walk-​in closet. They seem to have everything I need when I come to look for it. Staff is very helpful right when you walk in that door.
They also sell paint, and can help you mix any color you desire if you bring in a sample. The paint roller + pan combo is only like $ 4 here. At home depot it was $ 10!

I don’t believe this qualifies as an actual review… So here’s friendly advice to those who are like me and have short attention spans and skim through text. Or maybe this is just advice for myself…
1. ALWAYS read the store hours. Otherwise you drive 20 minutes out to the Sunset on a last minute run for sandpaper to find the doors shut.
2. Don’t rely on store names. 9PM Ace Hardware? NOT open until 9PM everyday. I guess Panda Express doesn’t carry pandas…
3. They must have great service though considering the reviews!
4. Return when I learn to read.
5. How about a rename to «9PM Monday-​Thursday Ace Hardware & Paint»? No? Fine Fine I’ll learn to read.
6. 9PM though? Most hardware stores aren’t open that late!
Sorry I missed ya! I’ll rush out late evening one day to get the effects of an awesome rare hardware store open until 9PM. :)

I have been a resident of the Sunset District in San Francisco for about 2 years. Anytime I need any hardware supplies, I head to 9pm Ace! They have great advice, great service and it’s a family owned establishment. The prices are very reasonable.
Why not a 5 star establishment? Well, parking is very difficult in that area. I know it’s not their fault, but it’s a convenience factor. Also, they are not really open until 9 PM on all days. .. they are open until 7 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. I made the mistake of trusting their name and went there at 8 pm on a Saturday and discovered they were closed.
Besides those petty complaints, I will be a long term customer of 9pm Ace Hardware. If you’re in the Sunset and need any household hardware, Google Map 9pm Ace Hardware.

In my short visit here, I must say I had nothing short of an amazing experience here.
Memorial Day weekend, I move into my subleased place. All night long my friend and I had been kept up by a dying fire alarm battery that the stupid landlord installed at the top of the ceiling, 15 above very narrow and angled steps leading to the front door. After climbing onto very unstable boxes (no ladder would fit on the angled steps) and my friends’ shoulders, I accidentally break one of the plastic notches on the back of the fire alarm that prevents me from getting it to latch back onto the holder screwed to the wall.
1. Googling a hardware store, we call ON Memorial Day, and speak to a very friend gentleman who kindly let us know that they are open until 9pm. (Hence the name) On a freakin’ HOLIDAY! *hardhats are singing*
2. I go into the store and am greeted right away by the kind owner, who immediately walks me over to the fire alarms they have in stock. Three different types to be exact, which is impressive as it’s a small and very old hardware store setup.
3. I explain my predicament and he HONESTLY tells me that I don’t need to buy a new alarm, that I should just double stick tape the alarm to its frame and place it in an easier to reach location. He does recommend I buy a new battery for safety reasons (a whooping $ 2) and then proceeds to check me out.
In and out time: 10 minutes
Saved: $ 20

Screw Home Dipshit. For all your basic needs, 9PM Ace works just fine!

I was cleaning the stove on Saturday and realized that our burner bowls were so corroded that there were holes in them. So I had stopped by this place around 8ish, but it was already closed! :(I thought they closed at 9PM? Guess not on the weekends.
So today, I decided to ditch my workout class, but motivated myself to get my roommate to go on a long with me so I didn’t feel so bad skipping class. We walked down Noriega and I told her that we should pick up menus on the way down to the beach to give us something to do. Haha.
I noticed the hardware store and remembered I didn’t get my burner bowls, so we stopped by. It was open (yay!) and I found the bowls immediately. I also walked around the store a bit and man, they got tons of stuff. It’s the thing about hardware stores is they have everything and anything you could think of. They even sold bags of dirt outside which is cool if you can’t make it to Home Depot or a local garden center.
The store is small, but don’t underestimate them by their size! Great spot to pick up odds and ends that you can’t find at Safeway and Walgreens.
