Ving Tsun Sito

I went to the school for a meetup and have not yet signed up, but on my meetup visit, Sifu Victor spent some time showing me the first forms. How nice! During this visit, another Sifu was visiting along with students from a different school. Every person I met was quite kind, helpful and friendly, and, it’s a small world, I knew two of the students. This location is quite far from where I work and live, so I may not be able to sign up.

Ving Tsun by any other name (Wing Chun) is still Ving Tsun.
I finally dived in and started my training at the school after a little help from purchasing a living social deal that was good for one month. it’s been so great I just recently paid for my 5^th month.

The schools lineage runs strong. Sifu Victor, the instructor had 2 instructors himself. His first instructor in Philadelphia (Pete Pajil a battle tested Sifu) as well as Grand Master Moy Yat an Artist. (Look them up.)

The school is all you can eat kung fu since it’s open 7 days a week. I would come everyday if I could. The Sifu lives close to the school so he comes in pretty often.
The school is a welcoming coed community where the older students work with newer students. There are no sashes or formal uniforms. You do have to earn your school shirt though.
I really like the structure of teaching/​absorbing kung fu.
The structure for my training was that they would send an older student for 15 min to work with me or refine what I’ve learned. After 15 min I would get to work with another older student. I would go through about 4 or 5 older students depending on who was available. So it was almost 1:1 teaching from my point of view for the first 3 months. There is also conditioning but I want/​need to do it so I can improve my endurance while training the fundamentals.
The school is the right choice for me because I wanted to learn Ving Tsun and it’s finer details. I also wanted to learn an effective martial art that I could grow into as I get older since it’s not about brute force or strength. Also who doesn’t want to learn what’s behind the 1 inch punch ;) (Answer: My sifu’s horse)
As an additional benefit to joining the school they share some of their space with yoga instructors and students are allowed to take a couple classes a month as part of my membership.
I plan on sticking with Ving Tsun Sito as long as I am able to.

I was originally skeptical about this Ving Tsun school and its authenticity, but after my first orientation I immediately know this is the real stuff and is the exact martial art that I was looking for a long long time. You train at your own pace and the school will teach you as much as one can absorb. The environment is friendly and students are cooperative; we help each other to improve in learning and practicing Ving Tsun. I have been in the school for over a year and a half now and everyday there are either a new move to learn or practice refinement till perfection.

I was always very skeptical about joining martial arts schools because I always though it was like any other type of physical program, There is a teacher at the head of the class and you follow what the teacher says or does. No doubt there are schools like that but not this one. I feel very fortunate that my first experience was a lasting one. The instructor (Sifu) Victor Chung believes that a good and close relationship with the Sifu and students is what helps in learning the martial arts. You build a family that work together, train together, have fun together. living a kung fu life is what excels the teachings.
The first week of training here and you already feel like a part of the Sito family. Everyone has a genuine heart and very accepting. I have been training for almost 2 years now and I feel like I couldn’t live life without these people.
Sifu Victor Chung is under the Moy Bah Hugh lineage, in turn which is under the Moy Yat family, one of the largest lineages of Ving Tsun. But even though it is one of the largest, it never felt commercial.
I would tell you to consider this school if you are thinking of taking Ving Tsun, you wont regret

I have been coming here for a year now and it’s a great place to learn kung fu. The community provides a good atmosphere and the structure is different from other martial arts schools I’ve been to. Beyond self defense and martial arts, the system incorporates philosophy, tradition, and other aspects of life that I find valuable. It’s difficult to find a martial arts school like this — I recommend anybody interested to sign up for an orientation. Sifu Victor Chung is an incredible teacher.

Having studied Wing Chun here for close to six months, I found that SITO is both a friendly, disciplined place to learn martial art as well as a tight-​knit community found in traditional martial art schools. Every member of VING TSUN SITO genuinely wants you to succeed. They are patient and encouraging if you are a beginner, but if you demonstrate the will to seriously commit to the school, they will push you to be the best you can, all within your own pace.
The school is near a busy intersection, and since the daily hours coincide with rush hour, the school can get a little loud from traffic, nothing too bothersome though. The lighting is great, and there is also a mini gym and library for all students to use. Sifu Victor is an extremely talented man who is also wise beyond his years. From him, you would be able to learn not only the Wing Chun lineage passed directly from Ip Man, but also a Confucian way of thinking and living.
Whether you’re completely new to martial arts, or a seasoned fighter dying to try out another system, I highly recommend you pop by SITO and say hello. It’s kung fu with minimum kung fu!

A true Kung fu family studying a great martial art. The level of instruction and the friendly environment combine to provide a great ving tsun experience. The lineage is strong and time with Sifu is plentiful.

Ving Tsun Sito feels more like a family than a martial arts studio. Everyone from the other students to the sifu (teacher) is very welcoming and genuine. The martial arts training is very technical, efficient and strategic. You will not be sorry if you try out Ving Tsun Sito.
I can’t say how good the kung fu is because this is the first school where I’ve studied ving tsun or any kung fu. I have, however, studied many other martial arts. Ving Tsun is not a high impact, trading blows martial art, but seem more like a chess match. That said, it is extremely efficient and is a great system.
Only 2 drawbacks (mostly which apply to me personally). (1) The hours are only after work on weekdays (5:30 to 8), which is tough for me since I work in the silicon valley. (2) the training is less physically intense than other martial arts I’ve tried (BJJ, Muay Thai or Krav Maga), so if you’re looking to shed pounds you’ll have to get a good workout in elsewhere.

For those looking to study kung fu purely and in a traditional manner I highly recommend The Ving Tsun Sito School. Through a master/​apprentice relationship students are not only taught how to defend themselves but also how to live a better life. Who can ask for more than that?

From learning Ving Tsun Kung Fu, I’ve gained a considerable amount of Knowledge in Self-​Defense, the meaning of Kung Fu, Family, and Culture. I’ve also gained a newfound respect for Ving Tsun Kung Fu!

I’m a new student of the school, and have learned a lot of Ving Tsun’s fundamentals in a short period of time.
It’s a no pressure environment, and instruction is more freeform than regimented in other schools. The student body is a good mix of beginners, and those with some marital arts experience (like myself).
While common ground exists across many martial arts, the Ving Tsun system is partly based on relaxation, efficient movement, and protecting the center line.
It’s a great community of friendly, respectful students and instructors.

Had no idea its that fun learning Ving Tsun. It teaches me to relax. I learn to examine my body meaning seeing what I lack on and work hard at it. It look so simple but yet its so hard to perfect.
