Vanilla Saffron Imports

I already reviewed Xanath, so am adding a vanilla and saffron review. Yes, you can buy saffron and vanilla beans here which is kind of weird. I dont really understand the concept, but hey, I love vanilla, saffron and ice cream so it works for me to get it all in one strange shop. Excellent prices, too.

is THE BEST source for vanilla and saffron anywhere. I have been using them for years (I think my first order was in 2006). Their vanilla beans are very reasonably priced and come in plump and moist. As a home cook, I usually buy only a quarter of a pound, and I cut them in half and place them cut side down in half an inch of vodka in a mason jar. Keeps them moist and gives me a constant supply of vanilla extract.
The saffron is of the highest quality. Juan used to sell Iranian sargol, but now sells Afghan sargol from the Herat region. If you are at all familiar with Herat, it might as well be part of Iran, as the people there are very Iranian culturally, and many Iranian business men have moved into the area. I have a suspicion that most of the Herati saffron is grown by Iranian farmers and sold as Afghan saffron, thereby avoiding trade restrictions.. .
Anyway, if you cook with saffron, whether making Persian food, or Paella, or whatever, $ 80 per ounce of sargol saffron is a great deal!

9÷28÷2014: ok, I take back all the nasty stuff. I ordered from another company a few months ago because: 1) crop issues in New Guinea caused a price increase; 2) I questioned the quality when the crop issue came up; 3) just wanted to see what else was out there. i wanted chubby size 14 beans and Beanilla sent me sad, skinny size 2 ones. just received a package from Vanilla-​Saffron, and it’s what I expected — lovely, plus size beans. I’m sticking with these people, in spite of the prices.
12÷7÷2013: holy cow, just wanted to re-​order vanilla from them, and prices have more than DOUBLED! they used to be a great deal, but at their current prices I can probably find genuine Madagascar beans. sorry, i’ll be looking elsewhere for my vanilla needs.

I appreciate how friendly and helpful everyone was. Vanilla and Saffron were amazing. Plan to make Christmas gifts. Arrived quickly and well packaged, important when buying on-​line. They were readily available to help answer questions.

I have a paella catering company in Naples, FL. The cornerstone of my business is purchasing the best products and treating them with care and letting the natural taste of the foods shine. It’s said you should do what you love in life as work. Juan certainly exudes a knowledgeable and glowing love for the products he sells. He will show you several examples of what to look for, feel for, and how you use your nose in choosing the best vanilla for your purpose, as well as the reason why his products are the best. Juan’s knowledge and enthusiasm should be presented as a day course for the Culinary Academy or maybe a course for a local school. There is much to be learned. My few hours with Juan left me wanting to visit again for more.
Other bits of info I was offered were these two things.
1) Tasting of a secret project. I wish I could tell you more. Let’s just say the diabetics of the world will have a flavor explosion when the products come out.
2) Their products are sold to and repackaged by a some well known «labels» in the specialty foods business. Chances are you have already bought some of their products at a much higher price. You would still be hard pressed to find better quality at any price.
3) Juan is opening up an all-​natural hand-​made ice cream store right across the street. The store may be already be open by the time your read this. Yes, Saffron ice cream will be on the menu I am told. (

Vanilla Saffron Imports, A wonderful SF gem of a business few realize exists in the city.

Vanilla Saffron Imports is a great place to buy wondrous vanilla, paella pans and saffron. The paella pans are phenomenal – is one of the best paella pans I have ever owned. I have never seen these paella pans anywhere else. You can pick up your paella pan here if you contact the principal ahead of time. You might get to try the vanilla beans. The vanilla beans are glorious – place them in sugar and the sugar will take on the vanilla. I used the vanilla sugar to make a mojito and it was amazing. Vanilla Saffron Imports is a great place to buy some amazing products!
