Great service above all else. The clothing is stylish, even though, it would be great if it came 3xl. I’ve shopped in store and online a number of times. The orders are always correct. I went in today to pick up some last minute Xmas gifts and the morning Monday crew was fantastic. Helpful, conversational and high energy. This positive experience is what keeps me/​people returning to do more business. I had a unique situation that needed a bit of special attention. The woman in customer service was extremely helpful. I wish I could recall her name because she should be commended for the courteous and friendly service. Great job and thank you to all involved in making these last minute gifts available for pick up.

I like their stuff and I have easy access because I volunteer for a non-​profit three blocks away that helps young adults with HIV live longer, healthier, happier lives.
Today — during a sale that has people lined up down the street — the executive director of the non-​profit stopped by to ask the store owner for a small donation of a couple of shirts or gift certificates for an auction that will help keep the non-​profit operating.
Apparently the proceeds from the sale are not great enough that the store owner could see fit to engage in a small bit of philanthropy, and he rejected the request.
I will not shop here again, and I cannot recommend anyone else do so.

I had been meaning to go here and or ordering stuff online…“life is so busy” until my lady told me that here sister wanted to go. My lady’s sister was disappointed that they didn’t have the inventory they said they were going to have as they traveled from Colorado to come to this store.
On the other hand I knew what I wanted, I picked up my T-​Shirts and Baseball Caps… as I proceeded to check out my lady’s sister did pick up a couple coloring books for her kids. She told the guys in the front that she’ll just order the items online. I was glad that they had XL’s and XXL’s for the big Homie thou…

Loved, loved, loved this super cool skateboard/​art/​cloths shop — in fact I wish I lived closer so as I could kit myself out with stuff from here regularly.
Based in the Haight, they have a gallery showcasing amazing artists who then design T-​shirts, bags and other fashion items for a limited time that you can buy. So basically everything is there for a very short space and some of the designs were totally awesome — I was also impressed with how good value the T’s were — you’re talking about $ 25 – 30 for most of them.
Staff were super friendly, great tunes in-​store and just a cool place to hit — can’t wait to get back to SF and see what they have on offer next time!

Only the best in men’s clothing.
This place has all the best designs you see around the city. The best artists and the best gear, not just for the guys. It’s all fresh. My daughter is always looking good in her shirts.
They also have some sick art in the shop most of the time, really great art shows. They have a sick hat selection. Most of my favorite t’s have come from Upper playground over the years. I always get mad complements on the hats. They have great jackets and bags as well.
Original styling and sick designs from a bunch of artists. If you need some local goods this should always be the first stop.
Once in a while they have a killer sale so it’s great to be on the email list and follow them on social media. I usually suffer economically at sale time.

I have always loved this store for the unique San Francisco t-​shirts and sweatshirts. So many cool designs and quality material. The people in here have always been so so sweet and helpful.

On my last trip to the bay, I stayed in Lower Haight. One day my bf, his friend and I ventured out and walked around the neighborhood and surprisingly came across Upper Playground. I am a fan of Upper Playground as I use to frequent it’s Portland location when I used to live there.
There’s a variety of artists that work with them such as Usugrow, Alex Pardee, Jeremy Fish, etc and you can find many of their work sthere in forms of prints, shirts, books, etc. We went there twice during our stay and on one of our trips, Usugrow happened to be in the shop. My bf’s brain was blown as Usugrow is one of his favorite artists.
The staff at Upper Playround was nice and helpful. We ended up buying tons of gifts for others and for ourselves. If you’re looking for something amazing and unique, you need to check out the store because you won’t be disappointed.

This place is a cultural icon of San Francisco, it should be recognized as a place of historical importance! I’m serious!
They’ve been in the Lower Haight since 1999, that’s over 15 years!
The shop has the coolest hoodies, hats and gear you’ve ever seen not to mention a ton of great art prints and original art.
Plus they have an awesome gallery next door called FIFTY24SF that shows some of the greatest artists of our generation including guys like David Choe, Sam Flores and Jeremy FIsh.

What a spot to get some local Gear. Walked in and what a surprise this place is huge! Nice selection of threads and accessories with a friendly staff that knows their sh! t. Street/​hip hop designs that represents SF in every way possible. This place just became my go to store, I’ll def be back.

This place has a really good collection of t-​shirts. I actually went there to buy a back pack as Unilocal suggested but they only had a couple of designs. They were kind enough to suggest me some other place where I can find more variety of back packs. The staff is friendly.

Bring plenty of money before you step in this place, because you will want it all. A lot of great art from locals and some national.
There are a lot of prints, candles, accessories, hoodies, jackets and tons of tees. If you’re out shopping for a dude, stop in here and you are bound to find something they will love.

Very San Francisco, street art inspired gear in the Lower Haight.
If you’re looking for a gift for a dude, come here. They have hats, hoodies, tees, bags, accessories and art from the same artists that do the silk screened designs. They have sizes up to 3X (but those designs are more limited). Most all of them go to 2X.
They also have cute hoodies and tees for chicks and kids tees from infant to 6T. My favorite designs are by Sam Flores. They also have some heritage designs that celebrate San Francisco’s history. A cup with Mr. Bimbo on it. A doggie diner plate. A shirt with the bushman. Mugs with Alcatraz mugshots.
Get on their mailing list to get a heads up on their 50% off sale (everything but the art) in the store and online they have every so often.

After hearing about their store and checking out their website, I was pretty stoked about coming here. However, upon arrival I was sadly less than thrilled. I honestly expected more designs and the one normal tank that I thought was decent… a plain gray one with a wittle unicorn on it… screenprinted on…$ 32? Must’ve been a really magical shirt.
I guess I’m jaded after living in Tokyo where there are tons of cool shirts to be found… but then again…$ 32 for a tank I might find at Target? Ummmm no thank you!

I have seen a lot of Upper Playground designs throughout the years on the internet. I was walking around the city, saw the sign and decided to wander in. They have some great print art on these shirts. I could not justify buying a lot of them because they are very Bay Area-​centric and I can’t be walking around Cleveland, OH with this stuff and no direct ties to the Bay. I will probably end up buying the Libra shirt although I am on the Scorpio cusp. Maybe I could do a half and half design of both, front and back. That is one of the true Libran characteristics that I display; duality and balance. They are running an online sale for Black Friday which I need to take advantage of.

This is one cool store loaded with designer tshirts and badass prints from various local and non-​local artists. They carry a larger selection of Sam Flores prints and sell them for pretty reasonable prices for the fact that they are original and signed!
The store is bigger than I expected, as they have two adjoining rooms one of which is filled more so with more upper playground branded clothing and accessories, whereas the other room is solely dedicated to the artists and their respective lines be it tshirts, sweaters or prints.
The staff here is very friendly and knowledgable about their artists as well as their clothing lines and can always help you find something that suits your tastes. I must agree though, the design of their male hoodies are way better than their female lines!
