Dr. Tom Jow, dentist to the stars. I have seen movie personalities in Tom’s office. So I can always say my dentist is the dentist to the stars, Tom put in an implant on my front tooth and went the extra mile and got me a translucent implant, that he had to special order so when the light hits it it looks like a natural tooth nobody can tell I ever had work done on my front teeth. He is a perfectionist and he also has great bedside manner which is important to me I don’t waste my money on doctors if they can’t muster up a personality as well as a skill.

Dr. Jow is the greatest cosmetic dentist! I first saw him over 2 years ago. He sent me to an orthodontist in the building and I had my teeth straightened (10 months with Invisaligns!). Then I came back, and he started replacing crowns and whitening my teeth. Everything was painless! I would tell you if it wasn’t! My dental insurance pays for a good chunk and I use my medical flex plan. Also got divorced and since I was «back on the market,» I needed my teeth fixed up! He said that we would spread the work out over several years, to make it more affordable. Since I started seeing Dr. Jow, my regular dentist retired! Nobody wants to work anymore! Now, I see Dr. Jow’s hygienists. Everyone in the office is wonderful, and Dr. Jow is the nicest, funniest guy! While you’re in the chair, you can view a slide show of his latest vacation! He put in a crown, and since then never had a problem. His work is excellent. I also know he works on other dentist/​Orthodontist teeth. I met one in the office while waiting to see him and told me he was their family dentist. So of course, he must be good.

Dr. Jow has decades of experience in one of the most challenging dental specialties, the full mouth reconstruction. After lengthy research and consultations with my regular dentist, I entrusted Dr. Jow with this work. His skill and passion for his craft ensure that the results are the finest available, anywhere. I met some of his patients before making my decision. One of them had a full mouth procedure more than 20 years ago, and every single one of her teeth are still perfect. From the type of materials used to the color and translucence of the different teeth, Dr. Jow’s attention to detail is unparallelled. My regular dentist asked to observe the procedure, which should give you an idea of the respect Dr. Jow carries. This level of quality does not come cheap, but if you are interested in a movie star smile that could last the rest of your life, give Dr. Jow a call.

Dr Jow was recommended as the best cosmetic dentist in San Francisco. He probably once was just that. Unfortunately, his work has not kept pace with his reputation. He did a number of uneccessary crown replacements for me on root-​treated teeth whiich resulted in a major abscess and unltimately an implant. He also did shoddy work on veneers which were misshapen and one repeatedly fell off and I paid to have it re-​cemented. Since it was a front tooth — I had no choice– the veneer even fell off while on a vacation abroad and I had to spend my time going to a dentist to get it reglued. I do not trust the integrity of this practice. No apologies, no attempts to make amends. And no effort to work with your insurance company. Very disappointing.

I rarely write reviews on Unilocal as I often feel like I have little to add to the current reviews. In this case, I believe the negative reviews for Dr. Jow are unwarranted.
Dr. Jow is probably the premier cosmetic dentist in San Francisco. He has an amazing eye and skill to make your teeth and smile look natural and beautiful. Dr. Jow also specializes in prosthodontics and implant restorations.
I was just in for two crowns and a few fillings. Long overdue. Honestly, the process was so fast and painless, I was thinking he was ½ finished when he was done.
I’ve also has my teeth cleaned by his technicians and did see Dr. Jow afterward. He is a very friendly and polite doctor. Honestly, my teeth never felt cleaner.
I know I’m in great hands and appreciate the high level of expertise and care. He is likely more expensive than your corner dentist, but if you are looking for the best dentist in San Francisco, I’m pretty sure he’s the one.

Dr Jow works only two or three days a week (Don’t we all wish we could charge that much!) As a result his practice is scattered and sometimes unprofessional. He provides good care but is unfocused. If you have a complicated case or need serious attention or coordination with other dentists this is NOT the doctor for you. He let’s his hygenist make decisions about care because he does not have the time to see or follow-​up on each patient. He does not share records or make referrals to practices that he’s not affiliated with which also makes it hard.
Cosmetics, ok, but you’ll have to work to get an appointment as he gets overbooked due to the fact that he only works part-​time.

State of the art office and equipment. Does incredibly beautiful work. No he is not cheap but if you want cheap looking teeth go to a lesser dentist. This guy is an artist. Dealing with most of the influential people in the bay area.
They are not coming there because he is expensive they are coming there becasue he is the best and people want their smile to be perfect.
He is very frank. I wanted to wait on a procedure and he let me know do so at your own risk, this could turn into a much more serious irreversible problem. needless to say I took car of it right away and it was not as bad as I thought they make extra careful that I has as little difficulty as possible.

Fast, Accurate, and Perfectionist is how I would describe Dr. Jow. His services are not cheap… but I am a firm believer in that you get what you pay for. His work is amazing. He takes great care to make sure the patient does not feel any pain. A great trick he does is numbing the area where one is getting a shot, so you never even feel the actual shot. Brilliant.

Dr. Jow, has the best «eye» in the business… I think many will agree since we were little kids we were always afraid going to see the dentist. Today as an adult my imagination still gets the better of me… but, after seeing Dr Jow and his wonderful staff that fear magically diasappears… They are truly wonderful people… professionals that only provide the best care and service for their patients…

I have been going to Dr. Tom Jow for the last 3 years. True, he gets booked up quickly and one has to wait. But he is absolutely worth it. Painless, fast, nice. Thats what I want from a dentist — since it is already difficult enough to make myself go.

I went to Tom for almost 10 years until the last time when his lack of customer service just undid me. Previously I had experienced times where Tom was rushed and I would have to come in again to have him file something off or something. However I overlooked it because I loved his office staff and hygenists. Everyone was always helpful. His work on my teeth was always excellent. But I have one filling on my front tooth and when he redid the filling as it needs to be done every so often, he was very indifferent about the coloring of the filling not matching the other front tooth and my feelings about it. At that point, I stopped making the pilgrimage to San Francisco (I had since moved to the East Bay) and got a nicer woman doctor closer to home. Dr. Jow doesn’t take any insurance so be prepared to pay up front. And he is very pricey.

I went to Dr. Jow’s office for about 5 years until last year when he totally blew me away with a lack of customer service and what I saw as an incredibly expensive ploy to fill in parts of my teeth with porcelain. First, I have these little divots in some of my back molars that probably will need some kind of help someday. His idea was to fill each tiny hole with porcelain for about $ 400 a pop. I think he pointed out 6. what is 6×400? yeah, that’s what I thought.
The last time I had an appointment scheduled with him was over a year ago. I called the day before to confirm my appointment and the receptionist said I had no appointment. Then she said, «OH! Heeere you aaaare.» She then informed me that Dr. Jow was booked because they had scheduled somebody else on the same day as me and then said that I would have to reschedule. Okay, how about the next day? «Oh, I’m sorry, Dr. Jow is booked at least 3 months in advance.» Oh really? Goodbye.

Tom Jow is a pretty great dentist. He’s big on preventative tactics and I think does a lot of cosmetic dentistry as well. His office at 450 Sutter (near union square) is definitely nice, newly renovated, with beautiful views of the city. His team of hygienists definitely know how to make your teeth feel super clean. All this said — the dude is pricey, so definitely don’t even think about it unless you’ve got delta dental.
