The Go Game

We used The Go Game for a birthday party in Hayes Valley and didn’t know what to expect. We had 25 very engaged, very weird human beings ready to roll and The Go Game delivered big time. The scavenger hunt/​trivia/​weirdness that they put together for us was custom to our birthday girl and was an absolute circus of fun. Even the awards ceremony was well done. We had a bunch of people who didn’t know each other beforehand and everyone came out of it with new friends, it was amazing.
You’ll be lucky if your event has Brittany as your game producer. She was onsite and was the MVP… enthusiastic and fun. Make sure you ask for her if you’re going to use The Go Game, she’s worth it. Well done Brittany, you’re our girl. And you’re weird, just like us.

After reading the positive Unilocal reviews I was very excited about doing The Go Game with my office. It could have been because my expectation were built up, but unfortunately I did not think it was that special of an event. I will say that I enjoy the company of my colleagues and did have a good time, but The Go Game format had little to do with it. Just to be clear I like company events. I am not the person who turns their nose up at this kind of thing.
Here are the issues I had:
–I found the fact that we were on a time limit to be stressful and I certainly didn’t want to spend the day running around.
–Over half the events involved dancing in some way. I hate dancing and it made me feel uncomfortable. Also not very imaginative.
–You could just look up a lot of the answers on your phone, which made it unnecessary to do the task.
–I felt the event was just a contest to see who was willing to embarrass themselves the most on camera. Way to much of life is already on camera. With social media I like to keep my embarrassing actions private.
–Very little thinking involved. Go here and do that kind of stuff. I was looking forward to cognitive puzzles.
–In general I found the tasks odd and unexciting.

A great time was had by all! The West Village, NYC challenge was a ton of fun, and the judging round was icing on the cake! Our leader was engaging, funny, witty, and organized, making the event run smoothly and effectively overall. We would most definitely recommend this team building event to anyone and would enroll to do it again given the opportunity! Don’t miss out on the fun… take full advantage of what The Go Game has to offer!

The Go Game is a great and fun activity to do with your company. They first break you into teams, for us it was teams of 5 teams of 4 – 5 people, and give you a lunch box with an orange iPhone. The iPhone is pre-​loaded with a variety of different kinds of missions which you need to accomplish throughout the city. One type was trivia, another type was silly/​creative photos or video, and another was interacting with «plants» or actors spread out throughout the city. You are given two hours to get through as many missions as possible, and then at the end you meet at an ending venue of your choosing (we chose a restaurant — E&O Asian Kitchen and Bar), where you vote on best videos and pictures. Every team receives a prize, but they scaled in quality, with the worst being a rubber chicken, and the best team gets medals and a trophy!
I was actually the person in charge of setting this up for our company and the people at Go Game were incredible nice to work with. I was able to customize the trivia to have some of our company-​specific questions, which made it feel a little more personal, and that was added in at no additional charge. This game was in addition to our company trip up to San Francisco, so there were a lot of changes of plans along the way, however the people at Go Game were very understanding and patient.
Overall, this game is definitely worth the money. The production value is great and the staff are wonderful people!

This was a complete blast!!! I hired The Go Game for my birthday party and they put on an unbelievable scavenger hunt for us in the Haight. It was a truly memorable day and my friends and I are still raving about it. I would hire The Go Game again in a second. We all had way to much fun!!!

We had GoGame do a scavenger hunt as a team building/​morale event. It was so well received, even those who were not eager about doing it. If you are looking for a reasonably priced event to help bring teams back together, this is it!

Participated in the Go Game in Richmond Virginia in November 2014. Have done several other scavenger hunts including others in Richmond and at nearby Amusement Parks — Go Game was the best yet — the use of technology enhances scavenger hunting a great deal. Our facilitator and her supporting cast did a super job — energy and enthusiasm all around. Game play was challenging for serious competitors while remaining accessible to those not solely out to crush the competition.
Feedback from our group was consistent that the game exceeded their expectations. I have not explored the options available but would hope that there is a menu of levels and types of challenges available. I highly recommend this adventure with the caveat that my participation was part of a corporate sponsored team building activity and I did not have to personally fund it.

Go Game with Vail resorts in San Francisco. I have done plenty of these events over the years and the Go Game is the best for fun, team building, exercise and focus on company goals and culture. Oh, and Jenny is the best 2.

In March I participated in The Go Game in San Francisco for work and had a blast. My wedding was coming up in August and thought what a fun way to get both sides of the family to meet and also interact with our friends. Leah from New York was our game designer. She was amazing, very patient, attentive, and extremely creative. She configured the entire game to be about the spouses. The photos and videos from the event are better and funnier than the pictures from our wedding’s photo booth.
Very happy we went with The Go Game as an event on our wedding weekend.

This is a really fun and well designed team building activity. The challenges were cool, and we have a ton of hilarious pics and videos to remember the day by.
Also, the organizers were super cool!

I was a participant in a scavenger hunt held by my department and organized by go-​game a couple of weeks ago and it was SO MUCH FUN!!! We had a combination of in-​house and field-​based employees separated into teams, carrying around school lunch boxes and traipsing all over Union Square for several hours completing top secret missions using clues posted via an iPhone and we were capturing evidence of our missions via a go-​game provided digi cam.
I think that the interactive go-​game actors (musician & dancer) were hella fun!
My favorite part of the entire afternoon: JUDGING!!! Our go game adventure would NOT have been complete without the wonderfully spliced and prepared video from our go-​game producer, John. TRULY AWESOME stuff. Had me in tears, I was laughing so hard.
I cannot speak towards package pricing or costs, as this was not something that I organized.
Yet, as a participant, I loved it. CAN’T REITERATE ENOUGH: SO MUCH FUN!!!

This is how the Go Games work: A weird lady in a bright orange jumpsuit shows up with kids lunchboxes (No, its not pedobear). She gives your team a lunchbox, each containing an iPhone, a digital camera and a 1 page instruction sheet telling you how to use an iPhone and a digital camera.
The phone dictates your challenges and the camera records them as proof of completion plus as way to display to your other teams and get extra points during judging time. You will do anything from solve riddles, go visit stores to answer a puzzle, create finger videos (i.e. do a movie scene using only your fingers), do a dance-​off, perform some illegal planking, recreate a famous painting, etc. All of it using no additional cash or anything besides what you were given. They hire a couple people to work as actors that you are instructed to visit in order to perform a task. We had a pirate, a dramatic artist and a lady playing your mom. The game itself took about 2 hours until you did a shit load of challenges or the time limit was up. Everything was done within a 5 block area of Palo Alto.
Since I was a participant and not organizer, I did not know the pricing (but from what I hear, its quite expensive). At the end of the whole thing, we met at a restaurant and our jumpsuit lady projected all our work and made us use our phones to judge the other team’s work. Cheap prizes (rubber chicken for last, a 8-​ball for 3^rd, medals for 1^st) were given out at the end of the tally and then running videos/​photos were shown of the challenges while we ate. The 35 people in my group really enjoyed themselves through the challenges as well as seeing what other team’s had done at the end of the day.
The iPhone sill has a few glitches but overall I think the whole thing worked seamlessly. Team members were able to bond and develop some skills, but you have to have fun during it. If you hate team challenges and awkward moments where you decide who is going to represent the team eating whipped cream, doing a dance off, or imitating an animal through the streets of Palo Alto, you might not enjoy this.

My company celebrated our 20 year anniversary this month and I was in charge of organizing a fun team bonding event. Half of the team works remotely, so we had to take advantage of having everyone in town.
I initially worked with Jessica to coordinate details and sign the contract. From there I was put in touch with John who assisted with the details leading up to the event and was our Game Host on the actual day.
There are several different types of «games» you can choose and my company decided on the Classic Go Game. It’s pretty much a scavenger hunt based at a certain location. Since we are located in the South Bay, our game location options were Los Gatos or Santana Row.
The actual game time (out and about) is about 90 minutes long. Everything is within walking distance, so you don’t have the drive anywhere (think Amazing Race minus the travel). Even though the locations are within a few blocks of each other, it still requires a decent amount of walking, and in some cases running if your team get’s competitive!
The game starts off with the game host explaining how everything works. You are divided into teams and within each team you pick a team leader. From there you are given a box with a phone and camera. You receive updates regarding missions via the cell phone and you use the camera to document each mission (photos or videos).
Points are acquired several ways:
— By completing a mission (the more you do, the more points you get). Different missions are worth different amounts of points, however you are not able to skip missions.
— Trivia. Random multiple choice questions will appear on the phone throughout the game. Be sure to get the answer right!
— Judging. After everyone finishes and regroups at the end location, the game host takes all the footage and each team gets to vote on how well they think the other teams did. Be creative and/​or funny during the missions because those points will help determine the winner!
The whole game takes about 3 – 4 hours depending on how much footage there is to view. Our company only had 3 teams so we were done in 3 hours. They also provide some pretty fun prizes!
One thing I will warn, is there are some missions that will require you or your team to do publicly embarrassing things. Nothing that’s offensive or inappropriate (think silly), but definitely some things that will push people in terms of their comfort level.
Overall, it was a great experience and I appreciate how flexible and accommodating everyone from the Go Game was.

I highly recommend the Go Game for a team building event. It is way better than a trip to bowling or bocce ball or the other usual suspects for team events. Think of it as a scavenger hunt on steroids or a more generous way to describe it would be like a mini Amazing Race (tv show).
You are broken into teams and made to do a variety of activities which for us included dancing the «Thriller» dance on the street, writing and leaving love notes for random people, hitting on people at the bar etc. All in good fun and everyone had a blast.
It is not cheap but well worth it. Sasha was our host and she was great.

The Go Game is very well put together. A fun event for friends, colleagues, and parties.
You use a smartphone to run around the cities to collect clues – kinda like amazing race w/​o a camera crew following you.
Overall, I had fun, but why not 4 or 5 stars?
1) Super PRICEY! $ 120/​person (for about 3.5 hours)
2) One of the «hidden actors» asked us to buy him a drink and appetizers… I think that’s kinda uncalled for unless Go Game is willing to reimburse us for expenses.
Overall, great company and very well organized, but probably will not go back. It was nice to see people out of their serious environment and acting all goofy all around SF.

I’ve worked with the Go Game in 4 different cities and am surprised at how they keep getting funner and funner (yes, I know funner isn’t a word).
They make it SO EASY to give a group a meaningful, fun and unique teambuilding experience.
From the organizer perspecitve, I really couldn’t think of a better solution!

Planning a scavenger hunt with the Go Game is a breeze. They will cater any game to your specifications. You can calibrate your level of rowdiness. You can use your imagination. Best of all, you can use all of their high tech toys and watch all of the embarrassment unfold via slideshows and videos.
I don’t want to give too much away as this is something everyone should experience for themselves. Have an open mind and be prepared to have loads of fun and an unforgettable journey.

My work hired the Go Game for our annual retreat/​bonding/​team work day. Our event coordinator, Roxy, arrived in an orange jumpsuit with lunchboxes in hand so I knew it was going to be goooood. The game was well organized and had adventures/​tasks that took advantage of everyone’s various knowledge and talent. They had us running all around Jack London Square in Oakland. I felt like I was on a mini version of Amazing Race. Overall, great experience and would recommend this company for their creativity and enthusiasm.

I feel like I am an expert Go Gamer as I’ve done it about 5 times and will continue to come back. I first played when I was in my first job out of college but I’ve done it for my 30^th birthday, my wife’s 30^th birthday, work events and I’ve even set it up for clients as well. In San Francisco I’ve done missions in the Haight, North Beach, SOMA and Mission and each one has been completely different and unique to each area. I’ve done one in Seattle as well.
It’s tough to explain but it’s like the «The Game» movie with Michael Douglas where you’re in a game, you need to do certain tasks and there are actors along the way and sometimes you’re not sure if they’re in the game or not.
The Go Game makes it very easy as they set everything up for you after some questions. It’s definitely a unique experience and gets people hooked after their first time.

We did a team event with The Go Game in New York’s West Village and had an amazing time. This scavenger hunt is a great team building activity that’s both fun and funny — our team is still talking about it!
Although the technology isn’t the most up to date and not all places we visited were informed that several groups of people would be stopping by, I thought it was well-​organized, easy to plan on our end, and well-​executed.
After conducting a series of missions, we all convened at a bar for happy hour to watch the slide show and videos, which were hilarious! Many thanks to Leah Rinaldi from The Go Game for setting everything up. She was very enthusiastic and was great at getting everyone excited when we were first receiving instructions.
