Our specialization is called NUCCA, which is short for the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association. NUCCA is a extremely light and gentle form of chiropractic which focuses on the re-​alignment of the entire spine by gently restoring proper balance to the head and neck area. There is no twisting, popping or cracking of the neck or spine with the NUCCA method. We focus on the upper part of your spine because this is the basis for why your body becomes misaligned, and until properly re-​balanced, is the root cause of most of our aches, pains and overall health problems. We look forward to helping you start living your life again.

History

Established in 2013.

Dr. Harrison opened The Balanced Atlas in late 2013. He has always dreamed of practicing in San Francisco since he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA in 2006. After graduation Dr. Harrison did a residency in Bend, OR for one year and then he moved across the country to Virginia Beach, VA. Dr. Harrison spent the next 6 ½ years training under a well-​known NUCCA doctor. Since starting into practice in 2006, Dr. Harrison has become known and recoginized as one of the best NUCCA doctors in the country.

While in Virginia Dr. Harrison realized his true passion in caring for children and families. His youngest patient so far was less than 6 hours old and had just come through a very traumatic birth, but has done amazing since his first correction. Dr. Harrison is one of the few Upper Cervical Chiropractors that has the training and expereince treating infants and children.

I graduated from West Virginia University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology and a minor in Aquatic Therapy. I earned my Doctorate in Chiropractic in 2006 from the birthplace of Chiropractic, Palmer College in Davenport, IA. I have been under Chiropractic care on and off since I was I was about 12 years old due various sports injuries. I always thought that being a Chiropractor would be an awesome career because my Chiropractor at the time was the Chiropractor for Guns n’ Roses and Bön Jovi, how cool is that! Through a referral I found myself in the office of a NUCCA Chiropractor in my college town. The NUCCA adjustment was so gentle that I did not believe the doctor had done anything. Two days later the sciatic pain that I had for months started to lessen in intensity and was completely gone within a week. I entered Chiropractic college about 3 months after my first NUCCA correction and have dedicated my career to the study and advancement of the NUCCA work.
