Terence McMahon Construction

I am a general contractor and have been working with Terry and his crew for the past 4 years. Although Terry mostly works for his own clients we hire him when we can. We have hired them to work on projects as small as building decks and as large as million dollar interiors and everything in-​between.
Terry is wonderful to work with. He is honest, up front and always has a can do attitude. He is friendly and treats client’s homes as if they were his own. He shares the attitude that the construction experience is intended to be enjoyed by the client. There is no request too small or project too big, he handles everything with the same attitude.
I have enjoyed all of my experience working with Terry and his crew so far and I look forward to many more projects to come.

Terry has worked on several projects for me this year. He has done a complete wall/​wetbar installation as well as renovating my patio. He gives you various options and works within time and budget constraints. His team is very knowledgable and friendly. I have recommended him to several other friends for their projects.

Terry recently remodeled the kitchen in our fixer-​upper sunset home. Upon meeting us to evaluate the job, he was patient, courteous and diligent about listening to our plans for the project. Terry’s work was affordable as he was consistently upfront with us about any additional costs. The job was finished on time and we couldn’t be happier with the result. We have heard about the trials of finding an honest contractor in the city and consider ourselves lucky to have found Terry. We recommend his services to anyone!

Terry redefines professionalism and competence. He took charge of our house remodeling project in the Inner Sunset at a critical moment and worked diligently and skillfully to get us back on track after many delays. His insight into the design and construction process also prevented little problems from becoming huge compromises and saved us both money and time. He is a tireless worker, attentive to detail, thoughtful, reliable and respectful. And when it comes to really listening to customers, he cannot be matched. Terry takes the mystery out of the hunt for the «a good contractor.» He is not just good, he is great.

Based on the glowing reviews of his work I have tried to reach Terry for an appointment, or even just a conversation, but alas after a couple of weeks of no response any confidence in his reliability has eroded (I’ve already lived through the nightmare of dealing with a contractor who could not be relied on to be reachable) and my search for a good contractor will have to continue.

I had an appointment with this guy to come out and give me an estimate on a job. He canceled one hour before his scheduled time and never returned my calls to reschedule.

On recommendation of the incomparable Nish N., we hired Terry and his team to help us with various issues at our apartment, all relating to water damage. Terry is wonderful. He is still in the process of fixing the problems, but I can’t imagine a contractor being more friendly or competant or helpful. If you need work done on your place, Terry is your guy. Plus, he’s Irish, and let’s be honest with each other – who doesn’t like a nice Irishman? What’s that you say? King Henry II and teetotalers? OK, you got me. But I’m pretty sure they are the only ones. Hire Terry.

On a recommendation, we hired Terry and his crew to come in and work on a series of home improvement projects in our house, in preparation for the arrival of our future new son.
Some of the projects included adding a wall, painting, moving cabinets, repairing some water damage, and replacing a marble slab in our kitchen. In all cases, Terry came back with estimates that were fair and accurate and he also took responsibility for managing all of the workers he had on site.
Terry’s a true professional, but just as importantly someone we felt we could trust and even consider a friend after all was said and done. If you are looking to have any sort of work done on your house or a building, definitely get in touch with Terry and feel free to tell him I said so!
