Be Careful guys. I had horrible expierance.
First of all, I waited so~~ long, even thought I went there on time. Finally Dr. Shin came and checked up my teeth for few second, and she said crazy expensive price. Of cause I decided to not fix my teeth to her. BUT after few weeks I got a mail from Dr. Shin and she charged $ 200 for look at my teeth for just 5seconds. After that I asked to many people and realize that she charge so much money because she also paying so much money on office rental.(not because of she’s good) so I just went to Santa Clara (I took just 1hour of driving) and fixed my teeth to another Korean Dr. for more than half price of Dr. Shin office. Oh, the people who work there is not good too. Anyway there’s no reason to go there.

They are as friendly as friendly can be! Willing to work with any apprehension you have about scary dental equipment going in your mouth (and we all have at least a little apprehension about these things). So comforting and professional. Only top-​notch work here. Worth every penny:)

Thank you for being the best matchmaker, ever! I am in love… beyond in love. With whom you ask? Well, Dr. Shin and the team, that is.
I haven’t been to the dentist in years (don’t judge me!), so I knew it was time to make that dreadful appointment. During my consultation with Dr. Shin, I got the worst news ever … mild gum disease. Yep, you read correctly, so I knew couldn’t avoid this any longer.
I was beyond petrified at first, but lets just say the dentist is no longer on my naughty list. A big big shoutout to: Mimi– best hygienist award goes to her! I was in that chair for 3 hours (!) with her and she was so gentle and made the whole process seriously pain free — I think I even fell asleep? (Maybe it was the Valium, but still…). She was so professional and really put me at ease. That’s not easy to do, so kudos to her. Mariah/​Vilma– the best office staff, ever! Both gals are genuinely good people, bubbly and very attentive, it’s ridiculous!
This team has changed my perception of the dentist– I’m actually looking forward to going back and maintaining this million dollar smile now (wink). Give them a try, you won’t regret it:)

I can’t say enough about the polite and professional staff. Had an emergency right before Christmas and all the clinics, like dental schools, were closed. I don’t have insurance. I was referred by another dentist in my frantic search. They were so kind and reasonable and understanding. What a miracle to have found them! She even called me after hours to see how I was doing after my emergency wisdom tooth removal. Hoping that when I get insurance I can make Susie my regular dentist.

I had a fairly unplesant experience when visiting Susie Shin DDS for my last appointment. I had scheduled a cleaning and other consultation and had to reschedule for work related issues. I got charged for moving it and trying to still get my teeth cleaned. It was clear that they were just trying to make a few extra dollars and didn’t truly care about the health of their patient. It was truly disappointing.

Excellent dentist. Cares about her clients. If you have a problem, she will fit you into her schedule. Staff is amazingly professional and friendly. Best dentist in San Francisco.

Everyone in the office was very nice, thorough and welcoming.
Kristen was gentle with my cleaning and gave information all along the way.
Mary took my x-​rays and was very detail oriented.
Dr. Shin was skilled, pleasant and very sweet.

Amazing dentist and assistants. I used a living social and got a great deal. $ 4800 for Invisalign seemed a little high, but everything else was very appropriately priced. Very clean office and great staff. Best dentist I’ve been to so far

I saw Dr. Shin for 3 – 4 years while living in San Francisco. I had fillings, bonding, invisalign, and cleanings done by her. She is a perfectionist — super meticulous, which I love. She was really patient with my invisalign process — sanding down my teeth where I needed more space, little each time. She notices things you don’t notice until she points it out to you and then she’ll fix it (you will agree). Invisalign turned out well. She’s gentle, so nothing’s too painful. She was meticulous with my fillings, making sure my bite was natural and comfortable. Love the tooth-​color fillings, btw.
I’m writing this review even though I moved to New York 2 yrs ago and haven’t seen her since, because I saw a new dentist last week (first time in 2 years) who took x-​rays and examined my teeth… He said my last dentist was excellent. Everything — the bonding, fillings, etc. was perfect. So it reminded me that I should post a great review for her which I always meant to do but never remembered to until now.
I highly recommend Susie. She’s also funny :)
P. S. Her assistant back then was Vilma (may still be) and she’s a sweetheart. Loved dealing with her on phone and her prepping for my appt.

Late review, but I went to Dr. Shin last year because I had purchased the Groupon deal for a dental exam, cleaning, and x-​rays. The dental assistant/​receptionist (Mariah) was very nice. Dr. Shin is also very nice, but I can’t help but feel as if she was pushing me to get more work done than necessary. The exam wasn’t as thorough as other dental exams I’ve had, but I assumed it was because I had a Groupon voucher. The cleaning was quick. Dr. Shin did it in less than 10 minutes and the assistant finished it with a polishing. Oh, the pain! Everything was great up until then. She carelessly polished my teeth and didn’t realize that she was cutting into the side of my mouth with the polisher. It hurt so much that I had to tell her it was hurting me! She apologized and acted as if I was just being too sensitive, but she actually cut into my mouth and it bled! For the next week, I couldn’t open my mouth wide without feeling the cut. It took a while for that cut to form a scab and it was painful! I was contemplating going back because Dr. Shin seemed nice, but now I don’t know if I trust anyone there. If a simple polish was painful because of an inexperienced assistant, I can only imagine how terrible a more serious procedure will be!
I recently got some dental work done at another dentist, who charged a lot less than what Dr. Shin had quoted for me. Now I definitely will not be returning to Dr. Shin!

From the staff to the dentist to the service– everything was great! I had a very pleasant experience at Dr. Shin’s office.
I went here for a a couple of visits, one of them being an emergency, and I can’t complain much about it (except maybe the pricing).
Mariah, the front desk staff, was super friendly and attentive, from the moment we met and even after the appointment, she and the office staff follow up!
I also liked Dr. Shin, she explained everything so I knew what I was getting myself into!
This office is modern and clean with new and up to date machines and tools! I definitely recommend this dental office to all types of patients– from the reluctant to the novice to the regulars– come all!

I have been worried about seeing a dentist for awhile! All my past dentists have made me feel uneasy about going back. But the hygienist Kristin was amazing when she cleaned my teeth! No pain whatsoever, she said they used a new device that used bubbles to remove plaque and involved less scraping away at my teeth. It was an amazing experience and she was great. Dr. Shin came in after and said everything was ok, my x-​rays were fine, and to just keep taking care of my teeth! I couldn’t of had a better experience.

I think very highly of Dr Shin … and Vilma too! I have been seeing them for more 10yrs and continue to enjoy the experience. Susie is a an amazing dentist while maintaining her professional curiosity… leading her to expand her practice into a variety of dental services including Envisalign, orthodentistry, cosmetic procedures, etc, etc. A one-​stop shop for everything related to your teeth! In addition, she will always stand behind work. I would suggest Dr Shin’s practice without hesitation.

Dr. Shin is the Best!
I first started seeing Dr. Shin after I received a flyer from her in 2004. I figured I would take a chance, since she was located close to my work and she accepted Aetna Dental.
I have to say, it was a great bit of luck. Dr. shin is knowledgeable, extremely friendly, and super accommodating. I am normally able to schedule appointments at 5:00 pm or later (very hard to find nowadays). The staff is equally friendly, and do everything to make you feel comfortable.
I am so happy with Dr. Shin that even when I moved to Washington state for 4 years, I still came back to get all my work done with Dr. shin. I have now had about 15 cleanings and 6 fillings redone.
If you are looking for a great dental experience, Dr. Shin is where you should start

Customer service has been nothing short of TOP NOTCH at Dr Shin’s.
I purchased the Groupon deal and took my kids in for cleanings on different days. During both visits, appointments were running on the dot and very efficient. Her office is relaxing, spotless and very modern. I love an office that communicates on texts and emails.
But the NUMBER ONE reason I LOVE her…
My son was injured, got 4 teeth knocked in, during basketball practice one evening and I called her on her «emergency line» in a panic. It was after hours and she had gone home already but she offered to drive back in the pouring rain, that same evening! We met her in her office at 8PM and she got right to work– xrays and then braces to secure his teeth. Fee for the visit was very reasonable, all things considered!
I’m a fan and Dr Shin comes highly recommended!

I found Susie Shin through a Groupon. I was really concerned because one of my fillings had came out and was too scared to go to a dentist in The US thinking they are too expensive. She is great, I got a cleaning and an x ray and she let me know about all the cavities that needed to be fixed. She even gave me a student discount cause I don’t have insurance.
It was far more expensive than in my home country but quite affordable for US prices and her work was she perfect.
I highly recommend her and she is now my dentist :)

I also purchased their Groupon for teeth cleaning & exam. What I didn’t expect was extremely agressive and pushy attitude towards selling their services. Beware of forceful compliments and horror stories to scare you into purchasing their services.
I was fine with the small talk to butter me to up, «Dr. Shin was a student and understand. She offers affordable services with payment plans». The cleaning that Dr. Shin did was brief, about 10 minutes, 15 tops. The assistant, who is actually pretty nice, finished the rest of the cleaning & x-​ray.
Dr. Shin was pretty nice until I saw the prices of the future dental work that I needed. Then, she got pushy on me — like a car salesmen. She told me the prices were only good for today and insisted on making payments NOW. wait a minute, you want me to make payments BEFORE I get the dental work done? I guess they really need the business.
Lastly, their office is extremely small and stuffy!
FYI, I went to another dentist, who charged 40% less and he is not pushy at all. Never again.

I had a groupon for $ 49 for a cleaning and xrays. I made an appt with Dr. Shin’s office. When i got there the receptionist an african american girl was very friendly offering me water and being very polite about the fact that i have zero insurance and haven’t been to a dentist in at least 8 years. It took all of my courage to even show up because I knew my teeth must be deplorable even though I brush often.
The african american girl took my ex rays and made polite small talk and then it was time to get my cleaning which was when Dr. Shin came in. To say she was brisk and rude would be an understatement. She came in and looked at my mouth and said you have lots of plaque and tarter and i’m not gonna be able to get all of it today. You will have to come back for another cleaning. She then went on to say you haven’t been to a dentist in at least five years I can tell, as if I didn’t already know that.
She seemed quite irritated by the fact that I had the nerve to come into her office and I think she assumed that because I had a groupon that I wouldn’t come back to get any other work. First of all you should never make assumptions about a person you don’t know. I have every intention on getting my teeth together and will pay out of pocket if neccasary. Even if I wasn’t going to come back there is no need to make a person feel like shit just because they have no insurance. It’s not my fault this country’s healthcare is a fuckin joke.
I did make an appt to come back to get a cleaning but only because the african american girl was so nice and I am hoping that after seeing me come back she will realize that she shouldn’t be so quick to judge. Everyone deserves a second chance I guess especially my teeth.

A friend referred me to Dr. Shin’s practice after my dentist retired and I never looked back. She’s the best dentist in San Francisco, period.
What dental practice have you ever been to where the dentist herself does the cleaning? She has state-​of-​the-​art equipment, a friendly staff, great hours (including evening hours) & convenient location, particularly if you work in downtown SF.
Dr. Shin also takes time to explain where/​why you’re having issues so you can floss better/​pay attention to brushing and stave off a major and costly dental problem. She even sold me a new Sonicare toothbrush at cost, cheaper than Costco. How nice was that?
I’ve been seeing Dr. Shin for 5 years. She should be your dentist, too.
