Still love this place! Thy change the menu but the food just got better. Reasonable price!

First of all I am «Ramen spoiled» after eating a lot of it on my recent trip to Tokyo.
My friends who did not have real Japanese ramen thought of it as «good» for me it was just «okay»
Broth does not taste like it was boiled for 48 hours as menu claims. Come on, I make my own broth and I know what it supposed to taste like and how it tastes on each step of the way.
Pieces of pork don’t melt in your mouth.
I found lots of bamboo shoots in my soup too — they are tasteless. Did not care for them.
Noodles were good. Liked them.
I was given a ladle to eat my soup with — I felt like I was treated as a domestic animal and not a human being since I don’t deserve a normal sized spoon and needed a freaking ladle. Plus it’s hard to consume soup using ladle when the handle gets in the way.
Also ordered pork belly Bao — The Chairman does it better. Don’t even start me on those.
Fried cauliflower — that was tasty!

Went here today and was not knowing how i would like it. Was going to actually choose a different place. Took a friend that has never been in the SF before. New to both of us. Loved it very much. Great atmosphere, music, people and more. Waitress was soooo nice as well. Spreading word to friends and moreee

Came here with a friend to grab some dinner originally planning to get some ramen, but I randomly caught pad thai on the menu so thought I’d give it a shot.
The pad thai was very flavorful, but I thought it was was a little too saucey. Maybe that’s why they call it slurp? I’m not sure, but if they took the sauciness down one notch I think these would be quite exceptional. Still pretty decent either way.
When I see pork belly buns on the menu it just reels me in so I definitely had to try it. They were mighty tasty and the pork belly was sweet and tender.
If I had to rate this place purely on the food I’d say it was pretty mediocre, but the service was excellent! Our waitress was very nice, sweet, and attentive the entire time we were there. Big thumbs up to her!

Elmer Dills, LA’s onetime radio «Dining Doctor», used to visit a restaurant’s restroom upon arrival. If it didn’t pass muster he’d not stick around, so certain was he that there was a connection between the cleanliness of this space and that of the kitchen. I don’t follow such a practice but if I had I’d have left Slurp moments after arrival. Their single restroom had a line of people waiting for it, a wet floor from something leaky, and a gob of soggy, wadded up paper towels strewn about. I’ll be generous and award it a «C» grade and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t seem to foreshadow the meal to come. In fact, emerging from the restroom I warned my dining partner to «order light, I don’t think this is going to be great».
Prophecy fulfilled.
Between two diners we ordered the Pad Thai ($ 9.50 + $ 2 extra for chicken) and the Emerald Fire Noodles ($ 10.50). It’s a rare day when I have enough extras for a doggie bag but what Slurp Noodle Bar lacks in quality they make up for in quantity. The portions were generous enough that I left with a doggie bag full of each entrée which got me to wondering: Was it the portion size or the fact that the food didn’t inspire in me a desire to consume all of it? A bit of both I think.
The Pad Thai got an «it’s okay”/shoulder shrug from my dining companion. The Emerald Fire Noodles fared less well with me. What a hot mess of inelegantly blended flavors and ingredients: Spinach wheat noodles, broccoli, tofu, sprouts, herbs, spicy curry sauce, and toasted peanuts. It tasted like the kind of thing that causes some people to despise fusion cuisine. I’m fine with fusion cuisine; it was just this particular dish that I found so off-​putting. Flavors glomped together resulting in a 1-​note profile that made me quickly tire of the dish.
Service was friendly and the complimentary kimchi and wonton skins (I think that’s what they were) were appreciated but upon leaving I couldn’t shake the feeling that the Dining Doctor was right: a clean restroom (and the opposite) are indicative of something that diners should take note of.

Great delivery service — other dishes may be great but the slurp ramen was somewhat fishy and odd. The pork and noodles in it were great… I ate them all out, but amid the rest of the ingredients I wished I had ordered something else.

Very tasty and conveniently close to my home. A little over priced for what it is in our opinion. We had the slurp ramen, which I requested to be made spicy and the kimchi ramen. Both were good. We also had the pork belly buns which were also good. I had been to the previous restaurant and the atmosphere/​décor hasn’t changed at all. Big and spacious. Wait staff were all pleasant as well. Will I be back? Sure, if I’m craving ramen and want to stay local. Also the free Thai ice tea with Unilocal check in is great! I give it 3.5 stars.

Great Pad Thai, some of the best I’ve had in the city. Having been here multiple times and pretty much have tried the whole menu, one thing is certain, the food is delicious!
We love all the appetizers from the Pork Lumpia to the Firecracker Chicken and everything in between. The noodles and ramen are to die for. And the Papaya Salad is amazing! Consistency can be hit or miss, but when they’re on this is definitely Thai comfort food to the max.
Staff is always friendly just not always prompt. My only complaint is dishes come out all at different times no matter how you order. Other than the consistency we absolutely love Slurp!

Every dish looked enticing. My friend loved what she ordered, but I did not. I ordered the jap chae which has noodles made from yams. They looked like glass noodles, but the whole dish tasted bitter. The wait was really long and the service slow. I plan to go back and try something else, and hope for a better result.

Some of the slowest service in he Castro. Every. Single. Time. It’s taken 15 min to process our check and still no joy… Get it together, people!!!

TL;DR: nice ambiance. Terrible service, terrible food presentation. Would not come back.
SERVICE: Came in on ¹¹⁄₁₇ ~ 9pm. Both staff on looked tired and uninterested in being there. My server (white guy, 5’8″, later 20s) not once checked in and I had to flag him down for basics such as napkins. Each flag down, they both seemed like I was inconveniencing them when I’d never been provided basics. He stepped outside twice to hack his lungs out. The female server (5′, thin, Latina, early 20s) was at the counter coughing and using her hand to cover her mouth despite running food orders (gross!). Neither should’ve been working. With only 3 other tables, they seemed more interested in clean up work. No other tables got check backs.
FOOD: pork wontons were good, flavorful, but could’ve used maybe more chive/​veggies. The Slurp Ramen (their signature) was lackluster. The presentation looked like something out of soup kitchens I’ve volunteered in. Chicken just torn off vs sliced. Veggies and other condiments were all clumped together vs spread out.
The bowl wasn’t big enough to contain all the ingredients and so it lacked the tasty broth that I’d come for on a cold day. At least it had more protein than usual (1^st time I came, I walked away hungry).
I wanted to give this place another chance. I’ve now been here 3x and can effectively say there’s no reason to come back. No wonder 2 of my friends told me to stay away.

Awesome! Great food to come for lunch. Vegetarian, vegan options slim but available and actually delicious!

My friend and I stopped in here for some dinner before getting our nails done. Décor, super cute. Waiter, super friendly. Food, super bland.
I had some sort of ramen with chicken and chicken dumplings. My friend had garlic noodles. Both of our dishes had barely any flavor. My ramen broth was just chicken broth, and really plain chicken broth at that. Literally no salt. The only condiment on the table was Sriracha, I should have asked for soy sauce. I just made it super spicy in order to enjoy it. The chicken didn’t taste great and the dumplings were more like frozen gyoza that fell apart in the broth, so logs of processed chicken fell out and floated in my bowl. The noodles were average. The veggies were good though.
My friend said her garlic noodles were overcooked and not too garlicky. Maybe there are better things to order here, but I wouldn’t get what we got again.
I do like that they give you kimchi when you sit down. That tasted good.

The stars are stars are mostly for the great lighting and seating. I loved sitting by the large floor to wood bench windows on a lazy Saturday. After saying no thank you to lining up at the typical SF brunch joint with loud patrons and cramped quarters, it was refreshing to be able to relax without the usual crowd.
Sadly, the food was just not up to par. The best part of our meal were the free fried wonton skins that they served us with kimchi. The emerald fire spinach noodles sounded amazing in theory but tasted pretty bland, probably modified to please the American palette. The kimchi ramen was equally disappointing. It tasted like generic ramen that you can be for less than a buck at an Asian grocery store.

I wish I can like this place more because of the nice service, but as expected, the food was not as authentic as it would seem. Slurp is a really cute noodle place in the heart of the Castro. Great but slow service because it was busy. The waiter was really nice, and tried his best to check up on us whenever he could.
First– don’t forget to check in on Unilocal to get a free Thai Iced Tea.
They also gives you complimentary spicy chips and kimchi to snack on before you get your food. Free food always wins my heart.
We ordered a crap ton of food for two people:
— Papaya Salad: I really enjoyed this– this salad was fresh, and you can really taste the tangy flavor (thanks to the fish sauce). I just wish it was more spicy.
— Pork belly bun: The pork belly was a good portion, and a quality piece at that, but it wasn’t as flavorful as traditional pork belly because there wasn’t enough sauce.
— Soto Ramen: I wouldn’t get this again, although I did like the soup. The toppings on it just didn’t go well together, because I can totally just go into my fridge and pull out random ingredients to make it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen asian soup noodles with broccoli in it. lol
— Curry Laksa: My boyfriend had this, and all he thought of was «meh.»
What I would recommend here would be the papaya salad. I also thought that the complimentary spicy chips and kimchi was better than their actual noodle entrees.
Oh and the thai tea? It’s pretty good– not too sweet :)

Based on Stef C.‘s review, I needed to come here after getting a hangover. Honestly, I needed something spicy and warm. Walking from my apartment to the store was a struggle, tbh. Then again, I knew that I was going to get some delicious food that would help. From all the rest of the Unilocal reviews, I needed get my free Thai tea, the pork belly steamed buns, and the Krazy Korean Ramen.
The service is pretty good (thank you to my server who understood I just needed a ton of water and not to really be bothered), but I noted that the manager or owner that was there favored his friends and the people who were there often (not a big deal). All of the things I got were good, but nothing super amazing unfortunately.
Protip: checkin for free thai iced tea.

A great little spot in the Castro to grab some ramen or Asian fusion. I visited Slurp recently, and was lucky enough to sample some delicious items from their menu for dinner.
Slurp starts you off with some shrimp chips and some of their house made kimchee. Kimchee, and other pickled/​fermented veggies are always a welcome starter for me.
For appetizers, we tried their Pork Belly buns, and Adobo ribs. Both of these apps are good sized portions (see my pictures for details), careful with overeating!
The Pork Belly buns feature, a chunk of pork belly that is either fried or pan seared. It’s crunchy on the outside. Served with green onion on a standard Chinese steamed bun which is slightly sweet. I don’t think you can go wrong with this.
The Adobo ribs were my favorite. The meat fell off the bone, and the sauce combined what I would expect of a baby back rib sauce, with a vinegary taste of Adobo. A must try.
For my entrée, I put down the Slurp Ramen. Pretty standard stuff here, a well executed bowl of Ramen.
I’ve only got to try a couple items from their menu, but was pretty impressed with the entire experience. Give them a shot, there should be something at Slurp for everyone.

Buns — good flavors, but belly was a bit over cooked.
Crazy Korean Ramen — the waitress warned us that it was really spicy and she wasn’t kidding! I’m no stranger to spice and it was spicy! It was delicious though and I couldn’t stop eating it.
Kimchi– they gave us a little sample when we sat down. It is made in house and very good. Very fresh and spicy and vinegary.
Not too far away from our place. Will be back again!

This place is really unique. An Asian noodle restaurant that mixes elements from different Asian cuisines.
You can get Korean ramen, Japanese ramen, Chinese noodles, Vietnamese Phở, and a free Thai iced tea for checking in! :)
I got the crazy Korean ramen which is supposed to be pretty spicy. Other ramen places that I’ve been to list their ramen on the menu as «spicy» but it almost never is. Slurp noodle’s Korean ramen definitely is very spicy, especially if you drink the broth. My nose was running and my eyes were watering towards the end of the bowl but I couldn’t stop because everything from the poached eggs to the perfect ramen noodles was delicious.
They also give you complimentary wonton chips and kimchi with your entrée. Yum :)

Respectable little noodle shop that replaces the underwhelming «Fork Café» that nobody I knew of cared about at all. Honestly, there’s not that much competition for good food on this block, if they just take it up one notch they could seriously make a run at making it in this town.
The pork belly steamed buns and the mushroom raviolis, as appetizers, were just okay. The Filipino adobo rib appetizer was one of the best things I’ve eaten in San Francisco. You want these. I recommended them to my roommates and they were WAY impressed. It made the meal, for them.
The ramen was tasty, though stick to the traditional «Slurp» ramen or the Spicy Korean versions. The laksa ramen is flavorful but you get «curried out» before you reach the bottom of the bowl. The soto ayam ramen is for your slightly-​racist grandmama who refers to the servers as Orientals and would rather be at the Sizzler for all-​you-​can-​eat shrimp night. It’s SUPER mild. I’d be surprised if it makes the cut whenever version 2.0 of the menu pops. The service was good if not Michelin-​worthy. Not overly friendly or overly attentive, but nothing remarkably «off» about it either. The location is undeniably excellent.
As it is, it’s a good if not amazing option. Four stars, legitimately. I’m not rushing back to take my friends, but I’d certainly remember it’s there if I was in the mood for ramen and too lazy to walk the whole way down 16^th Street.
