So the owner must not like to make any money cause he hired two workers that take breaks at the same time. So I recommend this gas station to be shut down for the lack of a better word. Thank you

It s in Soma and off the freeway so it’s expensive. But if you forget to fill up and need the fuel it works in a pinch it seems the couple blocks around here has multiple stations but then it’s empty as you move away. Use as needed but if you can go elsewhere…

Parked my car in the air fill up area to pick up gas for my motorcycle shop. While parked, my car battery died. When I went into the food mart to ask for help, I was told that I could either buy jumper cables (and then ask another patron for help) or if I wanted to walk the TWO BLOCKS to my shop for a jumper box, they would have my car towed. «Well, what am I supposed to do then?» I asked the guy. He shook his head and shrugged. Seriously. I fill up our gas container here sometimes twice a week and you can’t cut me some slack and let me leave my car for five minutes? Thanks. I’ll go to the one on Folsom from now on.

Prices are competitive and the station is easily accessible from the street. That said, this station has a severe panhandler situation. I’ve rarely gotten gas here, but have witnessed several altercations firsthand.
I was once walking up Third Street by this Shell and heard a loud thud to my right. I turn around and no more than feet away from me a pair of police officers has tackled a homeless man to the ground. I’m not quite sure what happened to prompt the situation, but the next second he was being hauled into the back of the police car. That’s never happened to me before at any other gas station.

DANGEROUS! Stay away. Aggressive homeless beyond just yelling at you. I was threatened while filling up. I ran to the cashier inside, but he wouldn’t let me in… said he didn’t open for another 5 minutes while he watched the angered homeless guy come at me. Ran… jumped in car, called police and they said they would be 20 minutes away.
You would think the Shell employees/​managers would take an interest in the safety of their customers.

Don’t go here unless you want to be intimated by scary looking homeless people.

I get intimidated into paying them to leave me alone. Last time I gave the guy $ 2 and he still wouldn’t leave me alone. OVER IT!
This is not the first time this has happened at this station.

Read the other reviews and I’ve not noticed any issues here. This is a convenient and cheaper shell than the one just a block away.

I have never gotten gas here before.
My dog likes to pee and poo here and none of the employees ever mind. 4 stars!!!

Company (AirServ I believe) refuses to clear the forecourt of panhandlers (present 60% of the time I’ve been there), charges for air/​water and yet provides an extremely inaccurate air pressure gauge, and finally this morning charged my credit card twice ($ 3.00) to use the air machine once (posted price $ 1.50).
This is the review it deserves. Buy your gas here if you like, but avoid everything else, and keep an eye out for panhandlers — do not leave your car unlocked on the forecourt.

Convenient. That’s what I look for in a gas station. Can I get in and out easily. If I have to maneuver around lots of cars, then I prefer to go elsewhere.
This station is very convenient as I arrive in SF from Fresno. I can refill my tank on my way into town and be ready for the trip home at the end of the week. Third is a one-​way street here so you have to be headed in the right direction for this to work.
Seems like people have trouble with the homeless around here, but I have not been accosted. I usually go through right around noon so perhaps the indigent are still asleep. Also, I pay with a credit card so don’t need to go into the station to pay the clerk.

Stopped going here because of the hobo problem. Sorry for your loss! Filled with innoying hobos. If you don’t give them money, they think your racist. 2 stars just for the convenient location. STAY FAR FAR AWAY. Last resort gas station.

The lady behind the counter is horribly rude. I have had to go in twice and both times she gave me attitude like she was miss high and mighty working as a gas station clerk. Whatever!!! Glad they have the machines where you can pay outside because her customer service blows! This place doesn’t deserve any stars (I wish that was an option). I think the bums outside are nicer than this lady.

I consider myself to be compassionate and considerate to homeless people but this gas station has a permanent resident that is quite aggressive in his approach and very confrontational with men. Every time we pump gas it’s awfully stressful. I try to avoid pumping here whenever possible.

I’ve never bought gas here, but I do buy cigarettes here. The girl who works the counter during the day is so kind to me!
Someone told me, if you buy 3 packs at once you get a free lighter. Yay!

Prices are lower than average for SF. Recently (2006) it seemed like there was always somebody camped out with a bucket, trying to wash your windshield — one time, the guy went ahead after I said «no thanks».

I always end up getting gas here late at night cuz it’s close to my work. Without fail, there is always always always some homeless guy either asking me for money or trying to wash my winshield *and, yes, he will do it regardless of u saying yes or no*. Kind of irritating.

If I could give zero stars I would!!! Here is the story. I went to get gas because the tank was empty. It was a rental so I only needed a little to get it back to the rental station. I paid with my credit card and pumped $ 5, or at least that’s what the pump said. As I” drove off down the street, the gas light then popped on again. I freaking paid 5 bucks for gas and my gas went down. What a rip!!! Do not pump here. There pump meters don’t work and I have a complaint in with the coprorate headquarters!!!

In all honesty, I have a love-​hate relationship with this station. It’s always considerably cheaper than the other Shell on 4^th street, and it’s incredibly convenient for when I head into SF off of 280. On the other hand, there are always annoying people that hide under other people’s cars, and jump out at the most inopportune times to clean your windows. But, I can live with that.
So here’s what happened over the weekend… I pull up into the station, and a dude walks up to me and calls me G. (Instant street cred.) He asked me for a dollar which I wasn’t sure I wanted to fork over, but based on his nice ghetto compliment I was more than happy to. The guy was sort of crossed eyed, so I felt sort of bad.
No sooner had I gone back to pumping gas than another homeless dude popped out from behind a trash can. I was slightly frustrated that I was about to be asked for more cash. Regardless, I have to give homeless people respect for flattery even if they aren’t getting any cash out of the deal. Here’s our conversation…
Homeless Guy: Hey it;s my main man from da 70’s sho.
Me: Nah, I’m just a regular guy.
HG: Awwww shit man, I see you got a Longhorn sticker. You from TX?
Me: Yeah, I’m from Austin.
HG: Hell yeah, I’m from Dallas.
Me: Nice!
HG: Let me give you a little test… «Ba-​Bum Bum Bum. Ba-​Bum Bum Bum. Cha Cha Cha Cha.»
Me: ” …Deep in the heart of Texas!“
HG: Hellz yeah son.
Ahhhh. What a great time bonding. That is why Shell gets 4 stars. For awesome homeless guys.
