Description

Specialties

Since our inception, we have been committed to carrying the very finest and most luxurious bed, bath, and table linens from around the world. My grandparents and parents stressed the importance of personalized and knowledgeable customer service and this is still reflected today by our friendly sales staff, most of whom have been here for many years. Customers still sit in comfortable chairs, in the traditional European style, while they are presented with a huge selection of options.

We personally test almost everything that we sell so when we can give you advice or make recommendations, it’s based on our personal experiences. We do a lot of custom work in our workroom and can accommodate special sizes and shapes. We can also create unique, fashionable ensembles for any décor or style and continue to do custom embroidery and personalized monogramming.

History

Established in 1953.

After immigrating to United States in 1937, Rosel and Samuel Scheuer, decided to sell fine linens in customers’ homes in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their son Fred joined the business in 1946 and continued to build the business by making presentations in customers’ homes from suitcases, also packed with samples from Europe.

In 1953, our first stand-alone store opened on Stockton St., a few doors up from Union Square in downtown San Francisco. When Fred passed away in 1982, his son Mark took over, and Scheuer Linens remains one of the last family-owned businesses in the downtown area. Scheuer Linens moved around the corner to their current and much larger location on Sutter St. in 1994.
