I help singers unlock and love their voice. I approach the voice as not only a mechanical instrument, which can be tweaked and adjusted to produce optimal sound, but also as the most vulnerable, spiritual act a human can do (singing). Sometimes I will focus on alignment and vocal function, sometimes I will honestly say when I see emotion is inhibiting freedom.
History
Established in 2010.
I began teaching in college, as part of the curriculum of the classical vocal performance music program at SFSU. Beyond the requirements, I also assisted in coaching the newly formed men’s choir, in both warm-ups and private, individual instruction. I opened my studio in 2010, and have helped a wide range of singers, from absolute beginners to those actively performing locally, from classical to country to pop.

I have been performing in theatre, musical theatre, opera, choir, solo concerts, and cabaret since childhood. I earned my degree in classical vocal performance, and continue to perform to this day. I absolutely love teaching voice. When I was in high school, I received some poor vocal instruction, and was in a very competitive environment, which led to some bad singing technique and low confidence. Even so, I always followed my heart, even though it was very challenging, and overcame my fears and learned how to sing freely and beautifully. In fact, because I had to work so hard for my technique and confidence, I believe I am a better teacher. Sometimes when a skill comes easily, we don’t understand why someone else struggles with it. I fully understand and accept that every singer has a unique set of gifts and challenges, and that patience, love, and a plethora of techniques to achieve freedom and support of vocal tone is a winning recipe for success.

«Their staff can help you find the proper instrument, music, etc. Also, they rent practice rooms in case you are embarrassed to practice at home.»
