Richard Robertshaw, DC

This man is a genius. I have never found a better chiropractor, or a kinder one. He is gentle but thorough, gives good advice for bone health and his fees are reasonable. He’s right in the Financial District of SF. A+++++

I have been a client of Dr Robertshaw for 11 yeas and I think he is amazing. He has vast knowledge and on every visit he has been spot on regarding the ache or pain at hand. I feel this review does not do justice for his high level of professionalism, so I suggest you go there and check him out, you won’t regret it. Also, his prices are exceedingly reasonable, he could easily charge so much more. Kudos to him for keeping his practice affordable for as many patients as possible.

Great doctor using multiple types of practice and gentle demeanor to help you to better health. He has a less abrasive approach to getting you aligned. The office is continent to downtown and the staff are wonderful. A number of other services can be obtained by other practitioners in the same suite. The kind of place were you feel good the minute you call and they care genuinely for your well being. Kudos to the team lead by the good doc!

I literally am so impressed with this guy’s wizardry in healing that I am stunned and cannot write a competent review. Just go see him. I’ll say that after years of back pain resulting in losing a year of work this man fixed me up almost instantaneously. I am forever grateful. He’s helped so many of my friends and clients as well so his reputation precedes him. thank you!

Just had another visit with Richard and once again I am blown away by this guy. Feels like you’re in the hands of a master. Don’t waste your time with any other chiropractor because Richard is the TRUTH.

Just echoing what everyone else has said. Although I have never seen another chiropractor, Dr. Robertshaw has far surpassed what any physical therapist or medical doctor has accomplished for my periodic neck and back pains. Knowledgeable, intuitive, reasonable, intelligent, and with a warm but professional manner with patients, Dr. Robertshaw is outstanding and I hope he never retires, though he ultimately deserves a wonderful retirement for all he has done for patients in his career.

Over the past few years, Dr. Robertshaw has helped me relieve the stress in my neck, shoulders, and upper back. Dr. Robertshaw is attentive and immediately knows what’s causing my body to tense up. He’s truly an amazing chiropractor. His method is simple, gentle, and effective. He won’t waste your time with bells and whistles.

I can only echo what many have already written…
I’ve been seeing Dr. Robershaw on and off for a few years — every time he has diagnosed the issue and fixed it.
Yesterday I saw him for a flare up of sciatica and it cleared up IMMEDIATELY — not only that, but my overall emotional state seemed to improve greatly after the session, now that is a first I have to admit, but appreciated none the less.
I should add that I used to live in S.F. but have since moved to Sonoma, and I happily made the 90 minute trek to see him. Over the last 30 years I have seen many different practitioners at different levels of expertise and experience. Dr. Robertshaw is in another universe altogether — there simply isn’t any comparison.
I refer him all the time — the latest success story involving our dear auntie who had been seeing another practitioner for a while — with repeated visits with little to no results. She’s now a convert — Thanks Dr & Congrats on the new office — looks great!

I’ve been going to Dr. Robertshaw’s for years! Amazing man, very connected to the whole body (not just a bone crack-​er like some chiropractors I’ve seen). He and his staff are also very queer/​trans* friendly and fat body friendly, which are both hugely important when someone is working on you and yet is so hard to come by in a medical environment. This place is the best! Always a positive experience!

Me and my wife call Dr. Robertshaw the surgeon of Chiropractic. He uses different methods to get to your core issues — including one of my favorites, Kinesiology. I went to Dr. Robertshaw a few months pregnant with migraines. I had monthly migraines before my pregnancy and they had only gotten worse during the first few months. Plus I had TMJ which contributed to them. He did a jaw balancing on me a few times because my temporal bones were out of alignment. After about 3 visits my headaches completely went away. I saw him my whole pregnancy. I have a 10 month old now and still no headaches! He’s a true healer in my opinion. We call him the surgeon because he is very good at healing a certain issue — so if you have one or two lingering issues that are causing you pain, he is your dr — you are in and out in 30 minutes. However if you are looking for massage and an hour of pampering I would try a different practice with that type of approach.

Dr. Robertshaw is the best chiropractor I have ever seen. More so, he is a generous person, truly interested in getting people’s bodies to operate better and pain free. As a professional dancer, I’ve been to a number of chiropractors in my time. Most of them do the wham-​bam number, and can’t really answer specific questions about injuries/​ailments. Dr. Robertshaw’s understanding of the chiropractic modality is EXTREMELY nuanced and deep, which means that both his physical treatment of you, and his intellectual understanding of the issue at hand, are in an entirely different arena than 99% of other people in the field. It always makes me happy to work with someone who truly loves what they do, and Dr. Robertshaw is certainly one of these people.

I was thoroughly impressed by the stellar Unilocal reviews for Dr. Robertshaw and relieved to get an appointment on relatively short notice last week for my increasingly aching back. Oh, but if only I could go back in time… I NEVER SHOULD HAVE LET HIM TOUCH ME.
In a nutshell, I came to this practice already in a fair amount of back discomfort, but without a clear diagnosis. I was looking for relief, and instead, I got a cold and impatient practitioner who put me through a few mild «tests» that led to very little information, promptly proclaimed that I likely have a strained ligament, and that I should get an MRI. OK. Most smart people would have stopped there, maybe continued with some gentle manipulation.
But instead, he then put me through a torturous adjustment that involved yanking on my lower body, «releasing» my jaw (useless) and other manuevers that left me completely UNABLE TO WALK the next day. Or the day after that. Etc. It took me a full six days on hard core anti-​inflammatories to be on my feet somewhat again. With the original back pain intact and/​or worse.
He was right about one thing. I did need an MRI and got one. Two herniated discs were identified. No torn ligaments to speak of. I can’t help but wonder what damage this man did to my back, in its already vulnerable state.
If you are injured in any way, I would stay away from this practice. I should also add that on top of the poor experience with Robertshaw, his assistant was totally unfriendly, unsympathetic and cold.

Dr. Robertshaw is *the best* chiropractor I’ve ever seen and I’ve been to a chiropractor since I was 8 years old (Anrig Chiropractic took good care of me as a kid). He is simply brilliant — he has complementary knowledge of others areas of medicine /​holistic care that bring visits to a whole other level. He’s the only chiropractor I’d trust to treat problems with my jaw (he adjusts it when I grind in my sleep and I disjoint it — amazing) and by using pressure points he can tell you when, say, your liver needs cleansing and always offers a healthy solution, e.g. eat more green veggies! He has vitamins here, but he’s never, ever tired to sell me on anything. In fact, I’ve never bought a thing other than paying for office visits — which are ridiculously reasonable. He’s a master and a gentleman. I am very lucky to call him my chiropractor! Thank you Dr. Robertshaw!!!

What a great find… my neighbor who is a massage therapist highly recommended him to me when I was hit with a bad case of sciatica this Christmas season… I was at a loss of which way to turn in the chiropractic field and was lucky enough to be led to the best.

Dr Robertshaw was just a heaven sent find… as everyone else has written he is knowledgeable, kind and very informative on so may levels to help you with whatever pain and problems you are having with your body.
And plus plus he has a great traction treatment that you can do that is very inexpensive and really works!

A co-​worker I trust recommended Dr. Robertshaw. Been to two other chiropractors before (one in SF and one in DC) and this guy is truly the real deal. First visit today but WOW. Really thoughtful and intuitive, and no BS. He didn’t waste time with an X-​Ray and took my blood pressure. Very holistic. I felt cared for and like I was in good hands, and felt pretty transformed afterwards. Highly recommended.

This fine man is excellent at what he does. I am now thoroughly reaping the joy of being pain free after being in considerable upper back and shoulder pain for the past three weeks. I called his office due to all the positive reviews here on Unilocal and I am so glad I did! I got in right away, and he zeroed in on the problem rapidly. Told me to come back today for the rest of the treatment for no added charge. I don’t think I realized how much discomfort I had been enduring until he made the pain go away-​completely! This doctor is amazing.
PS– My knees and legs have not felt this good and strong. I have been seeing orthopedic surgeons for the past decade who just want to give me knee replacements. Dr. RR adjusted my knees so that my patellas are aligned and track better.

Dr. Robertshaw is easily one of THE best chiropractors that I’ve ever seen in my life. His treatments are incredibly gentle and I leave his office feeling so relaxed and at ease. As others have mentioned, he’s also an incredibly smart healer and really does his best to make sure that you’re well informed of your condition and it’s progression.
Unfortunately I suffer from severe TMJ, and Dr. Robertshaw has been able to help make the pain more manageable. There’s very few doctors that will work with TMJ patients, and of the few that do I’d consider him one of the best.
His office manager, Shayna (doubt I spelled that right, sorry!), is also awesome. Though they do not bill insurance, she’ll provide you with the right documentation to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. She’s also very good at getting you in to see the doctor within a reasonable timeframe, and is very welcoming and kind.
Go see Dr. Robertshaw & Shayna! You will not regret it!

I was recommended to Dr. Robertshaw by a family friend who had been going to him for a long time. I’ve never been to a chiropractor before, but I’ve had major and minor back problems for at least 10 years. So a visit was long overdue.
Although I can’t compare my experience here with any other, I can say that he is extremely knowledgeable, caring, and informative. And while taking on a holistic approach, the East and West methods he combines work very well. Hitting pressure points on the roof of my mouth, for example… and then putting me on a machine that stretches my back (most interesting thing and relaxing).
Even though he doesn’t take insurance, the experience of this chiropractor is well worth it. Take some time to call him.
