Dr. Robert Felton and staff are amazing! I had gone to a dentist nine years ago who said I needed to have two crowns. I listened since I thought he was the expert and later he said I needed to have two more crowns. I decided in that moment, I was not going to go back to this dentist again in Pacific Heights San Francisco.
My dearest friend suggested her dentist and said he was amazing. I thought I’d give him a try. Well, I can’t say anything but kind words about Dr. Felton and his staff! His dental practice is in the Financial district of San Francisco where you could do some great shopping after having such a pleasant visit at the dentist. You always leave his office with a beautiful smile.
Dr. Felton examined of my teeth and advised I did not need to have two additional crowns and suggested that I replace some of those silver filings instead with white porcelain fillings. But, I’ve always been so very nervous when I go to the dentist since I’m so afraid of the drilling. Well, with gentleness and Dr. Felton’s amazing skills, he was able to remove four old silver filings, two on each side of my mouth. After he finished, I had the most BEAUTIFUL smile ever. I receive continuous compliments about my teeth constantly and I want to personally thank Dr. Felton and his staff. Whenever I come to his office, his staff and he are timely and never late. My insurance paid for the exams and x-​rays and also the filings were paid in full, blessings! Today, I got the last two silver filing removed
and my teeth are completely simply stunning.
I recommend Dr. Felton and staff with five stars+++. Additionally, my boys get there cleanings and exams from Dr. Felton as well. My youngest Son had a traumatic experience with a dentist but now is in amazing hands with Dr. Felton and staff. I only wish we can clone Dr. Felton and staff and again I highly recommend him!!! I have referred Friends and they too are quite impressed!

I have been going to Dr. Felton for the past two years, after growing up with what I thought was a great dentist. Dr. Felton has been extremely friendly and helpful no matter the circumstances that bring me to the dentist office.
The office manager (David) and all the technicians are absolutely amazing, and go out of their way to ensure I am always taken care of and leaving with the cleanest teeth!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Felton and his practice. I generally hate dentists because of past experiences — 6 years of braces to start. Dentists are generally never pleasant but you need them because you’re in pain or something is going on with your teeth.
It had been 2 almost 3 years since I got my last teeth cleaning and I was incredibly hesitant given my last experience of being poked and shown the needle going into my gums. But I really needed it done because of all the buildup. I tried another dentist nearby and although tentative, they wanted me to do a deep cleaning and quoted me $$$$ for just that. And they still managed to make me really uncomfortable during my check up. So, I wanted a second opinion and came across Doctor Felton’s Unilocal page.
I made an appointment with their amazing office manager, David who is just an absolute pleasure to speak with and see. He squeezed me in the same week and followed up with reminder text messages and two calls. Once I got there, he had assured me that he understood my fears and had told their hygienist about my past experiences. Doctor Felton, too assured me as I was about to sit down in the chair of what used to be doom.
The hygienist was a beautiful gentle lady who said she was filled in on my hatred and fear for dentists and that she will go easy on me. She talked me through all the tools she was using, and made sure to gently numb my entire mouth with a paste because my pain tolerance isn’t great. She allowed me to listen to music during her cleaning and would show me the tools beforehand, assuring me it wouldn’t hurt. And before I know it, the whole thing was done and I felt ZERO pain and discomfort.
After 15 years, I am glad to say I found my dentist! I would recommend Dr. Felton to anyone in the Bay Area and SF City. He is amazing and has amazing staff, much thanks to David. Highly recommend for anyone who’s afraid of dentists and is looking for one. This is the best you’re going to get!

Dr. Felton’s office continues to amaze. I’m not a great patient, and I wasn’t scolded after a year of not showing up (oops). His assistant was awesome, and my gums have improved a ton since my scaling and planing a year ago. Like I said, I’ve previously been made to feel incredibly guilty and gross, and Dr. Felton’s office was very kind and understanding of my circumstances. They also don’t upsell you on Invisalign, vanity treatments, etc. And you get to bask in the Art Deco awesomeness that is the 450 Sutter building.

I have been seeing Dr. Richard Felton for over three years now and as much as I am not a fan of going to the dentist, he makes the visits enjoyable. My appointments are always on time, with friendly hygienists there to accommodate any of your sensitive teeth or gums. I’ve had a few issues with sensitive gums and my past dentists would recommend gum grafts. Dr. Felton used a much more sensible and practical approach with education, prevention, x-​rays and bite analysis. He corrected a disproportionate bite and everything continues to be great! I enjoy seeing him each time and learn something new with every visit.

Oh NO!!! This can’t be happening. :(I am moving to LA and leaving the most wonderful Dentist in San Francisco.
I remember the moment when I knew he was the One — Dr. Felton was working on a massive filling and I nearly fell asleep. yes, he is that careful and gentle. Maybe it’s my luck, but all (yes, all) of the previous doctors were pretty much barbarians, or plain careless and clueless individuals. I truly appreciate that Dr. Felton and his entire Team are sincerely interested in the best outcome, would it be the treatment specific to my needs, insurance coverage or referrals to other specialists. I had multiple fillings, chipped teeth, a wonderful mouth guard made by Dr. Felton. Niki, the Hygienist, is gentle and always so nice! Not to forget David, the office manager — extremely knowledgeable about all the in-​and-​outs of the insurance world, provides hassle-​free arrangements and, simply fun to talk to! These three people made my 10 years of dental experience painless (on all levels) and gave me great healthy teeth and a renewed faith in modern dentistry.
P. S. Yes, I am moving to LA. but this shall not stop me from traveling the silly 400 miles to see Dr. Felton, David and Niki!

I have been going to Dr. Felton for decades and my husband has been going there since he moved to the US in 1998. So we have a long and happy history with the good doctor and his staff. For me, going to the dentist is a treat because I feel so well taken care of by everyone in the office. David keeps the office running smoothly, doesn’t get too upset when I cancel an appointment at the last minute (for good reasons, of course) and always gets me in as soon as possible for another time. He is a master at juggling the schedule. He keeps track of our insurance billing and never charges me up front — so insurance always pays first. He has reviewed various insurance plans for me as I have tried to find one that is good (there are none!)
All the hygienists working for Dr. Felton are terrific — they are gentle, do a great job and are very friendly — always a smile and a happy greeting — makes you feel like they really want to take care of you.
As for Dr. Felton, he is a master. I have had a couple of problem teeth that he has been watching for years. A very special situation due to braces I had as an adult — they cracked above the gum line. One was reabsorbing itself and when Dr. Felton wasn’t sure what to do he referred me to a wonderful periodontist upstairs. Between the two of them, they have been monitoring the tooth for years trying to save it. Recently it cracked and half the tooth fell out. While my periodontist thought it was time for $ 10,000 worth of operations to extract, graft and implant, Dr. Felton came up with a brilliant solution to keep the tooth as long as possible and he filled it. So far that is working like a charm and we are hoping that we may be able to keep that tooth for a lot longer.
My husband has had caps, crowns, and lots of other dental work and has always been well taken care of. Dental work is not cheap and Dr. Felton tries to do things in the most practical way to minimize our expenses. He is always professional, honest and truly caring. I always recommend him to people looking for a great dentist.

I was having problems with one of my filings and it was very uncomfortable. Due to my schedule I was having trouble making it to Dentils but Dr. Felton’s staff were able to accommodate me and they worked to make sure I received the care I needed. Once i saw Dr. Felton, he made sure I was taken care of. He wouldn’t let me go until I was fully satisfy and they call me the next day to follow up.
Dr. Felton is our family dentist and I’m confident to refer anyone!

My very first visit to Dr. Felton’s office many years ago was an embarrassing one. I forgot to inform the hygienist that my jaw was prone to locking, so after my teeth were cleaned, my jaw locked. Hard. For about 20 minutes, I drooled and drooled, all the while trying to relax in hopes that it would unlock. It didn’t.
The jaw lockery was like none other. In my embarrassment, I started to panic, which made the situation worse. My jaw would not budge. Dr. Felton’s team had to call in an oral surgeon (Dr. McDow, who is also a genius) from the building (450 Sutter has about a gazillion dental professionals, thank God) to unlock my jaw. Dr. McDow fixed the issue. I was so embarrassed.
Had Dr. Felton’s team not been so kind and concerned during this incident, I likely would have left the office humiliated and never come back. But that was many, many years ago, and since then, I’ve been back every 6 months for cleanings, and a few times in between for cosmetic work.
Dr. Felton created a night guard for me since I am also a chronic teeth grinder. He also fixed a really small but irritating gap in my front teeth that has bothered me since childhood. One night, after I forgot to wear the night guard he made for me, I chipped my front tooth by grinding my teeth. He fixed that too.
I have since recommended that all of my co-​workers go to his office for all of their dental needs, so now he has a slew of very happy gals from the cosmetics industry as his patients.
Dr. Felton and team also get HUGE points for honesty. I actually found his practice after seeking a second opinion on getting porcelain veneers to correct that tiny gap between my two front teeth. While other dentists freely gave me estimates for veneers, Dr. Felton immediately told me that I didn’t need them, and that he could fix the issue without them. After a simple bonding procedure, my teeth look perfect. And I saved thousands of dollars.
Dr. Felton and his team couldn’t be nicer. Everyone– from Dr. Felton, David, Shirly, and my regular hygeinist, the lovely Niki, are like family. It saddens me that I only get to see them every 6 months, so while I am not excited about having dental issues, I am 100% confident that if something arises, I can count on Dr. Felton and his team to take care of it for me.
Cleanings are gentle and quick. David at the front desk knows everything about insurance and is the friendliest man around. Dr. Felton has the calmest and kindest bedside manner, and runs a tight ship. And, if you’re coming from Fidi, you get a GREAT workout walking up Sutter.

I have been going to Dr. Felton for more than 10 years and have always had a great experience. Dr. Felton is a fantastic dentist! He’s knowledgeable, gentle and genuinely cares about his patients.
Growing up in Eastern Europe, I didn’t have a luxury of braces, so you can imagine how my teeth looked. I was very anxious about it, and finally decided to do something about it. I researched online and found Dr. Felton — an experienced cosmetic dentist. When I came to see Dr. Felton I immediately felt comfortable. He explained what he thought needed to be done in details. He gave me options to choose from. He worked on a plan with me — yes, I needed a plan because of the amount of work my mouth needed. In four stages Dr. Felton completed my transformation and I got my beautiful smile! I am lucky I found Dr. Felton and grateful to him for the great job he did.
Also, because of my genetically bad gums, I see him and his hygienist Nikki (who is the best!) every 3 – 4 months as a preventative measure and always have a pleasurable experience. I am so grateful for the time and energy he and his team spends on my dental care. And Dr. Felton’s entire staff (especially David) are so nice and accommodating. Most people dread going to the dentist but I truly enjoy going to see Dr. Felton and his team.

Dr. Felton placed crowns on my very 2 front teeth. The temporary crowns that were given while the permanent crowns were being made were horrible looking and of very low quality. I had to hide my teeth the entire 2 weeks. But I was assured that it would be worth the wait and I would be very pleased with the permanent crowns. So I waited.
When the permanent crowns were finally put in, the right tooth protruded out way farther than the left and my smile did not look natural at all. I expressed my concerns, but Dr. Felton was not willing to redo the work. I paid top dollar (1500 each crown), since Dr. Felton is one of the most expensive in the city.
This last week, the right crown cracked down the center and the entire back of it fell off. I called Dr. Felton’s office and made an appointment for the next day. Hours later, I received a call from the front desk person David saying that he had reviewed my file and asked in a very curt and rude voice why I would want to come back to the office if I was originally unhappy. I explained again that the crown Dr. Felton placed has fallen apart and I want him to look at it.
And this is what David says to me, exactly…“We do not want to see you. We do not want you here. We are not responsible for that crown.” I was shocked. Never have I been treated in a more harsh and unprofessional way. I will now have no choice but to find another dentist, pay again and address this through the Better Business Bureau.
There are so many other great dentists in the same building at 450 Sutter, such as Dr. Rebecca Castaneda or Dr. Claude Sidi. I wouldn’t want anyone else to have to go through what I have and am going through because of my experience at Dr. Felton’s dental office.

I was super excited to find my new dentist in the city. I visit the swanky office in the financial district (that should have been my first clue) and think to myself, «oh, this is nice!» I had a crack in one of my crowns so I had to get them replaced. First, I get comprehensive x-​rays done. The girl was super sweet but activated all of my gag reflexes with each x-​ray. She tried her best but there were some she couldn’t get due to my sensitivity to choking to death…
Then I meet the dentist. He basically looks at my crowns and is like, «Oh, this is bad, this is really bad.» Wtf? It’s a crack! That’s why I’m here! Fix it! After informing him that he was freaking me out, he told me that things were gonna be okay. I paid $ 300 for my crowns in LA… but here they were charging me $ 1500. F*ck it… I love my teeth… I’ll do it if it’s worth it. I have my appointments all ready to go…
And then! I get a bill for $ 65 for X-​rays! I have full dental coverage. I wasn’t even there for an hour, I got my standard X-​rays and I got charged.
It’s the principle… Yes, I’m willing to pay for amazing crowns but X-​rays? You can’t just take the insurance money? You have to charge the patient? Makes sense because they have to pay for the rent for their office …
They did give me a free toothbrush, although I wouldn’t be surprised if I get a bill later…
So on to the next dentist… any recommendations for a good cosmetic dentist ???

The only caveat to this review is that I’ve never had a cavity and floss regularly, etc. so I generally don’t mind going to the dentist.
that said, Dr Felton was awesome– he showed me the inside of my mouth with a super-​cool camera, answered all my questions patiently and in detail, and was generally fun throughout. His staff were also friendly and efficient. Overall a great experience!

If there were more stars, Dr. Felton and his team would get them all!
My teeth were in embarrassingly bad shape — including 3 broken fillings that I had not attended to, due to overwhelming fear of dental work based upon years of bad experiences with other dentists.
Dr. Felton has positively impacted my well being with his kindness, empathy and incredible technical skill — the stress is gone, my teeth are healthy and look better cosmetically than they have in more than a decade.
I actually look forward to my visits and teeth cleanings (Nicki is the goddess of all hygienists) — and of course, there is David, the office manager who keeps it all together, and is just a delight!
The office is very modern and bright — the cityscape view from the dental chair is a value added feature — this is a good as it gets.

So glad I found this dentist! I’ve been going here for about two years. The staff are attentive and gentle. I’ve always hated going to the dentist and usually break into a sweat when I walk in he door (white coat syndrome). This office has changed all that. It’s clean, bright and modern. They are straightforward and honest with the procedures you need. Dr. Felton adjusted my bite while doing a filling and my TMJ hasn’t bothered me since! Great work!

I discovered that I unfortunately needed to have 4 fillings on teeth in the top right of my mouth. Being nervous about visiting the dentist due to past experiences in the UK, I was apprehensive about the procedure to say the least.
Dr. Felton had the best bedside manner and made me feel totally at ease with his care and attentiveness. He even suggested that I put in earphones and listen to some of my own music. The whole procedure was painless and the result was fantastic. My teeth look amazing.
I have complete faith in Dr. Felton and his very capable and friendly staff and would more than happily recommend him to anyone, especially those that have had bad experiences in the past and need to rebuild their confidence.

To my great horror and embarrassment, I realized that I had chipped my front tooth on a plum pit and needed to find a dentist ASAP. Being new to the city, I immediately jumped on Unilocal and was led to Dr. Felton.
Wow, what positive reviews, and I agree that he does deserve them. He and his staff did not disappoint! I felt like he really cared about me as a patient. He patiently explained what was happening to my teeth (I grind my teeth), and his recommendations. For those with chips, he basically applied a bonded resin to my tooth, then polished and evened out my front teeth. I left the office with an even better smile than I had before the chip! I’m still in amazement a week later! His artistry is that good. I would recommend him to anyone.

I came to Dr. Felton’s practice after a friend raved about him so the bar was set incredibly high but I’m pleased to say he knocked it out of the park and then some.
I must say (and brag, of course) that I’ve never really had any major dental problems. Aside from braces, one minor cavity and preventative sealants when I was younger, trips to the dentist have always been painless. That being said, what I’ve never has was a dentist who was honest, candid and had a practice truly designed to give full attention to their patients.
On my first visit they did extensive x-​rays which I must admit was annoying at first because some of shots were painful but doctor Felton explained what each shot was for and why. It was nice to have a dentist who took the time to explain what he was doing and what that meant for my dental health.
Finally, perhaps the thing I was MOST impressed with regarding Dr. Felton is his honesty. I still have my wisdom teeth and every dentist I’ve been to has told me they need to come out, or my teeth will move. Funny how they’ve been telling me this for 10 years and nothing has changed. Dr. Felton was impressed that I still had them, but said he agreed, if they’re not bothering you, no need to take them out. (Woohoo) But on top of that, I’ve been contemplating professional whitening which he assured me I didn’t need. He also told me several other, less expensive was to accomplish my cosmetic results, despite the fact that his practice sells whitening products. A dentist who advises against unnecessary, yet lucrative procedures? Sounds like a WIN in my book!
Great doctor, great practice. Look no further. End of story.

Dr. Felton is the kind of dentist that I thought only really existed in movies… kind, informative, professional, and clearly an expert in his field. I feel like all too often dentists these days are in it for the money (extra cosmetic dentistry work, recommending other types of expensive and unnecessary treatments) but Dr. Felton is incredibly genuine and honest about your situation. He has some useful technology (camera to see inside your teeth) but he doesn’t rely on gadgets to show his expertise.
My previous dentist had done a terrible job with my fillings (they had fallen out THREE TIMES). She had a swanky office with lots of gadgets, but apparently didn’t really know how to do basic dentistry like fillings. Dr. Felton went in and fixed them all up. No problems ever since. That’s what you want in a dentist — only one time for cavities!
David at the front desk is friendly and helpful — making sure that insurance is taken care of with all those quirks in the system. Email and txt reminders are great as well! And having Saturdays as an option for booking is helpful for those who can’t get away during the week.
The office is open and has great natural light (unlike some of the cave-​like offices I’ve visited). If you drive, the sutter stockton garage is just a block away.
I will go to Dr. Felton as long as he practices (even if I move away, I’d come back just to see him). If you ever feel the slightest bit nervous about the dentist, he’ll put you at ease and make the whole process painless.
