Description

Specialties

Empathic, culturally sensitive psychiatric care for all your therapeutic needs, from relationship and work issues to couples counseling. Whether you have depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or other psychiatric conditions, or just need help sorting through complex emotions and situations, my goal is to help relieve your suffering and improve your quality of life.

Experience, insight, integrity, depth, support. I specialize in understanding you and what’s happening: your culture, current dilemmas, patterns, strengths, interests, relationships, life history, and visions of yourself and the world. Our work will be tailored to fit your individual needs, through therapy, medications, or both. I have advanced training and interest in depth work, including psychodynamic and mindfulness approaches. The goal is to help you cope with life, grow, enjoy fulfilling relationships, achieve your potential and develop resilience. I am a certified diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, expert blogger for Psychology Today and active member of the Asian American committee of the Northern California Psychiatric Society.

History

Established in 2005.

Providing psychiatric therapy services since 2005. After getting my medical degree, I worked in family medicine and bioethics before changing my field to psychiatry, because of interest in trauma, culture and identity issues. My writing focuses on culture, spirituality and psychology.

I’m both a good listener and interactive: I’m not afraid to be «in the room». I’m known for a good sense of humor.
