Laura Firestone, MFT

I know Laura as a colleague. She is warm and knowledgeable therapist. She grounds her couple work in EFT (emotionally focused therapy) that focuses on intimacy, communication, and emotions. Laura is energized when discussing her success with couples and exudes confidence when describing her belief her ability to help heal divides and managing conflict.

I’ve been a patient of Laura’s since early 2013. (and felt compelled to share a bit of the experience!)
Laura is a highly adept therapist; her approach feels grounded in professionalism, openness, compassion, and most importantly, practicality…
Instead of clinician treating a patient, the approach feels like a team effort to continually reach personal milestones and more broadly, live a life within my values (and continually refine what that means.)
Tactically, Laura introduces new techniques to minimize anxiety and depression pitfalls day-​to-​day. She challenges my anxious assumptions and pushes me (safely and slowly) out of my comfort zone to learn new skills, habits, and thought patterns.
Laura allows me to bring my knowledge/​ideas into the sessions, adding to the team-​oriented dynamic. I don’t feel we are stuck in a specific treatment modality or diagnosis; the sessions are dynamic.
It’s been a rewarding and awesome experience working with Laura and the intent of this review is to (hopefully) help a fellow SF resident in choosing amongst treatment options.
