In keeping with the quality productions presented in years gone by, it is the mission of Post Street Theatre to present a diverse array of high caliber, smaller scale Off-​Broadway and avant-​garde theatrical attractions.

History

Established in 1982.

This beautifully restored theatre first opened in 1982 with the production Tally’s Folly and was home to many hit shows including Steve Martin’s Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, Dame Edna: The Royal Tour, and Lily Tomlin in The Search for Intelligent Life in the Universe. In recent years it has played host to productions including the Australian sound effect sensations The Umbilical Brothers in Thwack; Brian Dennehy in Trumbo; the Tony Award– winning musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee; Bebe Neuwirth in Here Lies Jenny; Luis Bravo’s critically acclaimed Forever Tango; Frank and Malachy McCourt’s A Couple of Blaguards; Charles Ross’ One Man Star Wars Trilogy; Adam Pascal Live; an award-​winning production of A Little Night Music; Blues in the Night; The Christmas Music of Mannheim Steamroller; and Cybill Shepherd in Curvy Widow.
