Dr Peter Weber is an amazing neurosurgeon and knows exactly what needs to be done or not done to fix a serious spinal (in my case) problem. His right hand person, Nancy Palmer NP, is also very knowledgeable. I feel 100% comfortable discussing my situation with her as I do Dr Weber. The other thing is that Dr Weber has a nice bedside manner which can be less prominent in expert surgeons of his caliber.

Dr. Weber has performed all three of my spine surgeries: 2-​level cervical discectomies and fusion (2005), 7-​level cervical laminectomies (2010), and 4-​level lumbar laminectomies (2013). My first surgery followed several consultations with other surgeons and found Dr. Weber to be the most conservative and patient-​focused. I have heard from other doctors in SF that he would be their surgeon for their own treatment. The surgery and care went so well that I had no desire to seek any other surgeon for my other continuing issues and surgical needs. Dr. Weber also diagnosed a dangerous reaction I had with an unrelated medication for cholesterol levels that was not caught by my prescribing internist. A really excellent physician and nurse practitioner, Nancy Palmer. I am distressed that my new insurance is not accepted by CPMC/​Dr. Weber, but lucky to have had his care.

Dr. Weber did not find several of the complicating diagnoses affecting my back pain. He has an… odd bedside manner and (i didn’t realize then, but…) he didn’t ask the right questions or do the right diagnostics.
The surgery he did — which he called a «microdiscectomy» despite the fact that he left a greater than 5 inch scar, which should have taken out the large protrusion at L4−5 (causing excruciating pain) — in fact left a LARGER lesion there. He said it was «scar tissue» but my MRI looked worse after his surgery and the pain was worse, as well. He basically told me to go elsewhere 3 months later because he didn’t want to deal with my persistent pain. Gosh, so sorry doc.
After that i «interviewed» 4 other neuro /​ortho surgeons and eventually found the FANTASTIC Dr. Clement Jones who took the time to diagnose me correctly and do completely successful surgery on my back.

I was referred to Dr. Weber by my physician Dr. Nordlicht, and as it turns out, I had a severe herniated disc which needed surgery. After spending about 45 minutes with Dr. Weber I knew I’d found the right doctor. He’s incredibly patient, takes the time to help you understand what’s going on with your situation, and answers all of your questions thoughtfully. He knows and can appreciate that any kind of surgery on the neck /​back can be very stressful. The nurses along with the rest of the staff in the office were very helpful and accommodating. I would recommend anyone to see Dr. Weber!

Caveat Emptor! I chose this surgeon following Unilocal reviews and personal recommendations. I should have listened more carefully to the negatives. Simply, I received the wrong operation for my problem. nerve compression and spinal stenosis. I ended up at UCSF with Dr. Phillip Weinstein and Dr. Dean Chou for «a redo» which created serious problems for me. Had Dr. Weber completed one more CAT scan he would have seen my problem more clearly perhaps but insisted he had it all under control and that he had fully decompressed my nerve etc so I could walk once again. Now, 6 mos later (much trauma, stress, and physical challenges with a second surgery so close to the first).I am on the road to recovery. After discussing this with Dr. weber he was completely well– defended (based on his personality I expected that) and felt he did the best he could at that time and wished me well with my «new medical team». If you chose him, despite other red flags, I can only warn you to do yourself a real service and get a second opinion, preferably out his system and then proceed with caution. I have lost much time, money and of course undue misery and defeat… pain was expected no matter what. But this time I am improving and returning to physical therapy and hopefully some semblance of a normal life within the next 4 mos of recovery. His office staff, especially Marty are excellent… but they are NOT the surgeon!

My mother went to the ER room in March 2003 after vomiting blood. After nearly dying, we were told that she had suffered a stroke. Dr. Weber was her neurosurgeon. After she woke up from her coma, the idiots at CPMC put her through OT and PT. She didn’t get better. In August 2003, she got sick again. It turned out that she had a brain tumor: a glioblastoma multiforme in her basal ganglia and died in November. How this was missed in March, I have no idea.

Dr. Peter Weber is brilliant! Many neurosurgeons can have a sense of arrogance – not Dr. Weber!
I have had three neurosurgeries performed from Dr. Weber and not because he didn’t «do something right the first time» but because I’m «complicated».
He totally «cured» me of my grand-​mal (tonic-​clonic) seizures in 2008. He performed my Chiari decompression surgery in 2010 – my syringomyelia is better!
Last, Dr. Weber performed my 2nd epilepsy surgery in 2011. I’m happy to say that I’ve been seizure-​free and functioning well since.
There’s a reason why I’ve chosen to come back to him: In the office, he answers every question (he’s never impatient), he’s genuinely kind, has a good bedside manner, and, when it comes to the O.R., is VERY COMPETENT!

Dr. Weber is awesome. He performed a micro discectomy on me back in Feb of 2010 and I haven’t had any issues since. He’s a kind, thorough Dr. and you know he’s qualified when you see him on 60 Minutes!

I cant say enough about Peter Weber and his team.
Having gone through 3 very painful cervical disc herniations and 3 surgeries with Dr. Weber, I can confidently say that Dr. Weber is a fantastic neurosurgeon. He has a great bedside manner, he listens, is understanding and does not rush you on to the operating table before exhausting all other options and therapies. And and unlike a lot of other neurosurgeons he does not have a god complex. If you’re considering neurosurgery do yourself a favor and have a consultation with Dr. Weber first.

Dr. Weber is a fantastic neurosurgeon with a great bedside manner. He is thoughtful, considerate, and doesn’t rush you out the door. He treats everyone on a case-​by-​case basis; he doesn’t throw you into preformed molds. He pays attention to detail and really cares about his patients’ well being. I should know. He just performed neck surgery on me a few weeks ago. I couldn’t be happier with Dr. Weber’s demeanor, precision, and kindness. Hats off, Dr. Weber. And kudos too.
