The shop owner is very experienced. My best hair cut ever in San Francisco. Only 55 to cut my hair, and he is very patient and careful with my hair. He also told me a lot of tips to deal with my hair.

I did enjoy the salon, it was very relaxing. I think it lulled me into forgetting to be very clear about what I wanted and there were no questions asked about how much I wanted to lose. So, I am wishing I hadn’t got my hair cut, an excellent head massage doesn’t make up for the months it will take to grow my hair out again.

Paul did a really good job to my hair! I was thinking to cut my long hair to very short length, but couldn’t find good barber shop, and then my friend recommended me Peter Pan, I’m so glad I came here. I got exactly what I want, and the price is so reasonable. I’ll definitely come back!

It’s the 6^th year I am being one of their loyal customers and friends. Giving the their price and service, it’s unparalleled in the city. Paul is one of the true experienced and professional barbers. He loves and enjoys what he does. Private room, by yourself, with one barber cutting your hair and his wife serving you with cookies and tea, what else do u expect from a hair salon.

Very disappointed with the service… although I was recommended by a friend. I don’t feel being respected and it’s hard to communicate with the hairdresser. He seems not able to listen and communicate with the customer before cutting… and the result is sad… make my whole day suck. Won’t be back.

Just had my third appointment with Paul. He was great as always. My boyfriend says he’s never seen my hair look healthier or better. Paul takes time to debulk my crazy hair which I think is done better dry than it has been wet.

I’ve been coming here for about 6 years now, and I still love them: D they’re not your typical hair salon, they make you feel important. Paul is very professional and really cares about his client’s hair. They really make this place feel homey, they offer tea and cookies, help you with your coat, and help put a robe on you. 5 Star treatment indeed.

I look forward to my haircut here every time. I’m not ashamed to say it’s because Paul gives the most ridiculous head massages while you get your hair washed. Even Vin Diesel would squeal like a school girl.
Then Fay makes you tea before you get in the chair, and Paul brings me magazines to read. GQ and Road & Track. I feel so understood. Paul takes incredible care with cutting your hair, trimming little by little, and the result is always amazing.

I have been to Peter Pan for a few years since I moved to the Bay area. Paul always does a fantastic job! He knows what I need and gives honest opinion. The result is always what I expected, never disappointing.
For those who wants an unique experience, I highly recommend. Paul only takes clients by appointment. So each one gets his full attention.
The price is fair, the quality is high. We are lucky to have a skilled and nice hair stylist in this area!

My husband and I have been coming here for many years… The trek to the Outer Richmond is totally worth it! When I first started coming here, my hair was sad and limpy. Now with their care and education, I have healthy, shiny hair.
We LOVE Paul and Fay! Not only are they great with hair, they are incredibly kind people. They are definitely more comfortable speaking Chinese, but that is not a problem even for my non-​Chinese speaking husband.

I’ve had my hair short for many many years and recently decided to grow it out. Because of location, and Unilocal reviews (5 stars, i thought, no way!) I ended up at Peter Pan Hair Salon. I AM SO HAPPY. I went in with no photograph, and simply told him I was hoping to grow it out, but i wanted to cut off all the bleached lengths (in know, I know, bleach. I don’t do it anymore, OK?!) I walked out with a really cute, ladylike-​do, that now (it’s been several months now) still looks good! I have even been receiving compliments just recently and one lady even made me write down where I got my hair done. IT STILL LOOKS GOOD. He has secured me as a customer, even if I have to drive all the way across the city to do it (I don’t live near there now).
It’s better to have an appointment, but not necessary, I picked up a cancellation.
When it came time to pay, I thought it would be more expensive than it was, he said «short hair! it’s cheaper.» Which is NOT what my OTHER salon had me thinking.

I tried so many hair stylists in the city, some crazy expensive/​famous and always got out crying over my horrible haircut. But Paul is such an amazing hairstylist! He always get my haircut right! I’m never going to anybody else ever again.
I highly recommend him!

I waited for a couple of weeks to post a review because I like to see how well my color lasts and how the cut works out in a variety of situations before passing judgement. I’m happy to say that I am completely satisfied with my cut/​color.
I should have taken before/​after pictures because my hair needed help when I came in to Peter Pan. It was way too long and I had even dyed it myself a couple of times. Now it is shiny, healthy, and soft. It has great movement and it looks good whether I blow dry or just let it air dry. My grays are nowhere to be seen and he perfectly matched my color (it’s a more ashy brown and not everyone picks up on that.)
Both the gentleman that cut my hair and his assistant/​receptionist were very sweet. They made good suggestions when we were working out the cut and the shampoo/​head massage was unbelievable. I really liked his haircut, which made me more inclined to accept his suggestions. Great price, too. $ 115 for cut and color– and I have long, thick hair. Many salons charge more than that and don’t do such a good job. I will be back to Peter Pan!

Paul was recommended to me by a friend and he did not dissapoint! It was one of the most silent hair appointments I’ve had; not a lot of gabbing that you get with most hairdressers, but that suited me just fine. The cup of tea and scalp massage with the shampoo alone was worth the visit.
The fact that I only had to use a few words to communicate what it was I was looking for in my new do excited me. I’d been thinking «Meredith Grey» in my head for awhile now, and aside from pointing out a picture of the bangs I liked, that I didn’t want to lose a lot of length and that I wanted some layers… BOOM Meredith Grey. I hadn’t even had to say her name and there it was, just what I was looking for.
Paul is truly an artist, a sculptor really, and your hair is his clay. I spent most of my appointment just watching him work. I have a lot of hair; most stylists have to clip it up in sections before they start cutting. Paul just dove right in and the results were amazing! I’m definitely a fan!
UPDATE: I really really really wish Paul was closer to my home or work! I have to go so far out of the way to see him now! As such I am now suffering the results of a not-​so-​great haircut from someone closer to home. Missing Paul so much!

I’ve been cutting my hair here since I was in graduate school, they are the most kind and loving people I’ve ever met~
Every time I just call them to make appointment and arrived there 5 mins earlier to find the street parking which is easy and sometimes they will even tell us where can we get the parking spot! how lovely!
No need to mention the designer’s 25 years professional skill, they treat every customers like their best friend.
And they wont push you to do other extra «beauty salon» stuff like some other salons!
They always listen to what you want to do with your hair and give you their professional advise!
the most important part I like is they give every customer one «FULL HOUR» service! the designer just Focus on you!!! that’s a very respectful way to treat each of their customer!
I will definitely coming here and also bring my coming little one here too~ :)

It’s so nice to be able to support local businesses when the service is great! Since seeing Paul and Fay nearly two years has passed and not once have I ever regretted stepping into their salon. Nice, friendly, warm, and efficient artistry at its best! The only thing is it’d kind of weird that since I am such a happy customer, my Mom and wife now go as well!!!:-)

Simply, this place is amazing! The side-​service (cookies, tea, magazines, etc.) was incredible! They were very attentive and accomodating at 4:30 in the afternoon when everyone else is pooped and would rather sit on the couch watching Oprah, then have to worry about another needy customer.
The color varieties Paul showed me were awesome and it was easy to find a match with his help of course. The shampoo and conditioning treatment with a massage bonus was one of the best I’ve received thus far. If my hair and scalp could talk, we would hear singing… Maybe something like «Hallelujah!»
After the color, Paul got to cutting… With long hair and layers, it’s difficult to mess anything up, and he didn’t dissapoint me at all. I was looking for a simple trim and to fix the hair-​cut my sister gave months ago, and he did more than that. He made my hair look amazing!
I’m done looking for another hair-​place, I’m sticking to what I know… and this Peter Pan Hair Design place, is exactly what I’ve been looking for.

My prior hairdresser is awesome and I love her to bits, but my finances became too tight to see her, and so I tried Peter Pan Salon on the recommendation of a friend (and the reviewers here on Unilocal).
Paul started out by taking a look at my hair and listening intently to what I wanted. Then he led me to the shampoo sink, where he administered the the longest, most vigorous and luxurious shampoo/​scalp massage I’ve ever had. Seriously, he could sell that separately as a spa treatment. I’d buy it.
I got cold feet just as he prepared to start cutting. As soon as I saw the shears, from my lips spilled a torrent of concerns. I wasn’t sure from his reaction that he’d understood me at all. He just smiled and said «don’t worry.»
And then he went all Edward Scissorhands on me. To my ever-​increasing anxiety, piles of hair were landing all around me. Piles. And I don’t have that much to part with, people.
When the dust settled, he whipped out a blowdryer and a small round brush, followed by a dry variation on his Scissorhands theme… and in a matter of 10 minutes, I had the most luscious, thick and healthy-​looking hair I’ve had since I was 13. It’s fashionable, it’s soft, it’s youthful but still age-​appropriate for me, it’s sexy, and it’s even easier to style than it was before. Paul not only understood my weird hair texture, he used it to advantage. For the first time, someone actually *got* my hair!
And to top it all off, it was the cheapest haircut I’ve had in 15 years.
So, yeah, I’d say he’s pretty good. ;c)
