overall, mediocre experience. Wouldn’t accommodate my cat, no matter how uncomfortable he was. The vet wasn’t invested in explaining what «exam» he did on my cat while taking a Urinary sample. Avoid if you can, the cost does not match the service or care.

Want your cat treated by money grubbing greedy people? You’ve found the right place! I firmly believe that taking my cat here lead to his his early and untimely death. The medical care was incomplete and incompetently administered. They did not keep him on meds he should have been on, did not provide knowledge medical counsel (I realized all this after going to a different vet).
Different doctor every time, some young and not knowledgeable in their field. Don’t go here, find a place with ethics, compassion and skill. Some docs good here, some bad, which explains the mixed reviews.
Staff literally screamed at me and hung up because I refused additional tests for dying, late stage kitty. They did not paint a realistic picture, just kept recommending expensive and useless hospitalizations running into the thousands. Unprofessional staff.
I could post about their 60x markup on some things or 100x on others. Knowing the medical profession and how they conduct business makes me sick and angry.
If you are upset for being ripped off and financially raped by these people they make you feel like it’s your own fault.
I talked with Dr. Doe about my kitty and asked her what the prognosis was for him. Instead of answering in a straight forward way — medical and factual — she would answer «oh it’s very concerning.» As if I’m some kind of idiot. Well that type of answer is beneficial to them — you will spend more and more money on treatments and tests. They will not tell you an honest answer based on medical knowledge and experience.
When I asked Dr. Doe why the clinic marks up hydration for a cat 60x she denied that it was true. She said they don’t charge $ 60 for that treatment. I asked her if she wanted me to come in and show her the bill and she said she had to go and hung up the phone.
For blood work — they will not just take the kitty’s blood. No, they will charge you an exam fee of $ 60 even if your kitty was just examined the week before and you don’t want an exam. Isn’t sucking you out of $ 250 enough for the blood work (that costs them $ 50 to get run)? They have to tack on an exam fee on top of it – which by the way I never saw them do. When questioned they said it was done in the back (not in front of me). Basically their «exam» consists of them laying eyes on your cat.
The younger doctor, Dr. Anderson, is a piece of work. When my kitty was very sick she would not even have the dignity to go into an exam room to talk about his test results. She stood outside and had no compassion for what I was going through. Just order more and more and more tests or go into the emergency hospital where they can financially rape you further.
Of course we all love our pets dearly and deeply. But there comes a time when no amount of money will bring your pet back to health. It is at this point that this clinic, and many others, exploit the feelings of compassion of the pet lover. When I went to a different vet they were honest with me and gave me the truth about the situation. Even if I had spent another 10K it wouldn’t have changed the outcome… the other clinic helped me say goodbye to my friend and companion in a dignified, caring way. I still miss him deeply and will always love him… and I will never forget the hell this clinic and the staff her put me through. I know that if I had found a better vet sooner his condition would have been managed and he would still be here.

Very poor customer service. Spent thousands of dollars trying to figure out my cat’s health issues and they were extremely rude and rigid when I just tried to get an emergency appointment. Will not be returning. Anyone know of any other good cat vets in the area?

My experience with this vet was mostly bad. My cat had some UTI related issues, and they definitely took advantage of the opportunity to run up the highest bill possible. Urinalysis, culture, pain pills, steroids, and prescription food did not do the trick, and after less than a month she was straining in the litter box again. Their solution was basically the same as last time (at the same price), just with a different kind of prescription food. A couple of visits and we were set back about $ 1,000, with absolutely no solution to the problem.
In addition to that, they are a bit disorganized. There seems to be a lack of communication between the person you get on the phone and the vet that actually saw your pet. For example, one of the medicines my cat was given gave her a horrible reaction after the first dose. The girl on the phone said the medicine was «straightforward» when we asked about side effects, yet when the vet found out she changed the medication immediately. It seems very dishonest to simply guess the answer to questions like these.
It turns out my cat was reacting poorly to the prescription food this vet shamelessly pushes. She’s bounching off the walls after a high quality, non prescription canned diet. I just wish I didn’t put her through the stress of coming to this clinic, because she definitely was not handled with care.

I decided to schedule an appointment with this vet due to the great reviews and the discount for fist time visits. My kitty didn’t even cry when inside the clinic he was calm the entire time which has never happened at other clinics. Everyone was friendly and gentle with him. He was examined and given the needed vaccines all for under $ 30 with the fist time client discount. They even gave him free dental treats and toothpaste to take home. I’m so happy to have found this vet!

Our cat is loud, meowy animal who only wants food and attention. And his stuffed teddy bear.
We went out of town for about 3 weeks and Nob Hill Cat Clinic came to our rescue when, on the morning we were supposed to leave, we tried to drop Cat off at Petsmart’s Pet Hotel and were not able to, as they required a rabies vaccine, which is not a required vaccine for indoor cats.
I had to do a MAD SCRAMBLE, because our pickup for the airport was coming in 30 minutes, and nowhere else was able to take him in, not even the vet hospital around the corner, since they required a vet visit first before being able to board. The three nearby petsitters that I tried to call all went to voicemail. I finally called Nob Hill Cat Clinic, and they had a spot for Cat available.
(For those of you wondering, our cat’s name is actually Cat. It’s short for Toncatsu, which was punnily named by my super punny husband — he wants to name our next cat Chatshu, for those of you who speak French and like Japanese food)
We had to have our driver take us to NHCC en route to the airport, but once we dropped him off it was easy peasy. They provide food, so all we had to bring was his favorite teddy bear.
NHCC called once during our trip to ask if it was ok that they clean his ears, since during their routine initial check-​up, they discovered he had a lot of wax buildup. I said that was fine.
Upon picking him up, the staff told us that he was a favorite of everyone’s, since all he wanted to do was cuddle. They also were washing his teddy bear, because I guess he’d managed to get poop on it somehow.
NHCC truly does a great job with Cat, and though we typically have taken our animals to the SPCA vet hospital, we’re definitely thinking we can switch him to this clinic because they’re so nice! Good to know there’s a reliable cat-​boarding place in the city!

Pricing is really great and even more importantly you can feel that your cat is in good hands. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a vet in the city or for boarding while you go out of town.

Still love this place. I think it’s pretty affordable for San Francisco, and they are very communicative every time my cat stays with them. His lion cuts have been great, and the staff is so friendly and sweet that I know Rufio is in great hands when I drop him off.

I love Nob Hill Cat Clinic! When I brought my 4 month old siamese kitten in with a mysterious fever of unknown origins, which sparked months of testing and uncertainty, they were just so helpful and so supportive all the way through. Her case is very unusual and unique and even at times where it seemed helpless, both Dr. Doe and Dr. Wallace were super caring and supportive. All of the support staff too are super friendly and helpful and just really make me feel as though my kitty is getting so much love and attention when she is there.
I have nothing bad to say about NHCC. They have helped me basically bring my kitty back from the dead and I’m so happy to say that since December 1, 2014 she has only had 1 fever and it only lasted one day! Pretty insane, and me and my kitty could never be where we are today without everyone at NHCC!

I’ve been taking both my cats here since we adopted them as kittens. We’ve always been treated with priority and very kindly. I don’t usually leave reviews unless my experience was horrible, or absolutely AMAZING. My cat got a bloody nose for no reason, and they took him the next day an hour after I called. I felt my cat was in very safe hands when we went down the list or possibilities that would have caused it. I appreciated Dr. Ruth’s honesty with no sugar coating. This is my cat we’re talking about here and I want all the details. She was very patient and answered all my questions and concerns.
What really impressed me was the willingness to go the extra mile to make sure not only my cat was ok, but my state of mind was good too. We decided to get a few tests, and as I was walking out, I asked if I could please also get an Xray of my cat to make sure there was nothing lodged in there, etc. 99% of the time I get responses like «Let’s see if it happens again,» or «Let’s see if it get’s any worse. I always have to be persistent. She had no issue with this making sure my mind and worries were at ease. Maybe this isn’t a big thing to be amazed by. But her willingness to make sure I felt better about cats wellbeing really made a great impact on the entire experience.
I have another cat who they always are great with as well. When another emergency came up (well *I considered it an emergency), they also took us the same day.
I live in Telegraph Hill, and do not mind the distance for the great service. I take a cab, but when I borrow my partner’s car there is always EASY metered parking in front and across the street. Or there’s free neighborhood parking behind the building — towards sacramento — that has a 2 hour limit.
I 100% recommend the Nob Hill Cat Clinic and Dr. Ruth Roe for your pet’s every need.

I’ll admit to being a crazy cat lady, no shame. These sweet people are caring, nurturing and have nothing but your kitty’s best interest at heart. No pressure, they don’t try to sell you anything you don’t need. The best cat care in the city!

We have a large male cat, and as one would expect, he behaves a bit like a large male cat. He is not necessarily friendly towards vets, but then again, many sick animals are not. Our past vets, understanding this, have been able to deal with him. Other vets have known how to actually handle animals.
So when this mornings appointment started with a hiss, the vet actually told me, quite rudely, not to touch the cat. I think I might know him a little better than her… but anyway, he hisses, and she says, «I can’t deal with this, he needs to be back in his carrier.» This of course requires me to touch the cat (which I’m not supposed to do), and of course, I pick him up and put him in the carrier. It’s not hard, especially if you deal with cats day in and day out. You would think the cat vet would be the expert. They go to the back, and a minute later she appears telling me that to do any sort of exam he needs to be sedated. Granted our cat is not nice to vets, but seriously, it’s a CAT clinic.
I’m not sure what has bothered me about the experience, the tone of the vets voice when talking to me, talking down to me, or the fact that she couldn’t handle a cat, despite working at a cat clinic. I really miss our old vet!
We were wary of going here, because many years ago we used them, and we were always left with the impression that the clinic was more crazy cat person, than vet clinic. It seems I still get that vibe.

My first visit to this clinic didn’t go as well as hoped for, because of a mistake regarding rx fulfillment.
However, they went out of their way to both apologize and make it up to me and my kittens for our next visit.
I’ve found the staff to be very knowledgeable, caring, and responsive to our needs, without breaking the bank. And I really like that the focus is just on felines.
I’m really happy that we accidentally just got off on the wrong foot initially, and that the mixup has been cleared up. I’m looking forward to a great vet-​pet-​caretaker relationship moving forward.

We have been bringing our cat to this vet for two years. We have a 10 yr old cat with some weird urinary issues, and he always gets relief when he bring him in. One time he had a deep gum cleaning treatment, it required anesthesia. We knew he was in good hands and he came out good as new. He always gets his nails trimmed (such a treat) and we ask to have him weighed. I would recommend this clinic to any of the cats in the neighborhood!
P. S. They have awesome photo books of all the cat patients throughout the years. I love looking at them while I wait!

A friend referred me to this vet service and they were wonderful. Reception was wonderful both on the phone and in-​person as I scheduled and then arrived for my appointment. The vet we saw was very friendly, lovely to my kitty, and very knowledgeable. In addition to the check-​up I needed paperwork for an apartment application and they were great at providing exactly what I needed, with urgency! They also have two lovely cats they’ve taken in who were abandoned there, and I love that aspect of this vet too.
The only minor constructive criticism I’d offer is in the efficiency in checking out — the payment process and getting the billing paperwork was a little slower than ideal, considering I had a sad kitty in a carrier. It would have been easier to have wrapped up that business while kitty was in the back, finishing up the actual medical appointment. But still — not enough to merit lower stars. This place is GREAT — look no further!

Love this place! The girls working there are all super nice and always very patient. The prices are very reasonable too.
I brought my feline in for flea treatment the other day and was very satisfied to see that they treated my cat the way any loving owner should. They didn’t see my cat as a «patient,» rather they saw her as a family member. That means a lot to me.
I would recommend going here over any of those big chains because you’re missing out on the personal touch and expertise that a place like the Nob Hill Cat Clinic brings to the table.
If you love your cat you’d take them here!

They’re wonderful. They love cats and are so good with them. They showed me how to clip my kittens nails, how to clean her eyes. They were very patient with all my questions.
My friend takes her two cats there and loves them.

Just have to say once again how I LOVE Dr. Doe and Nob Hill Cat Clinic! They are great and so caring about all of our animals!

I scheduled an appointment and it was a breeze. Staff was pleasant and informative. I brought my two cats in for their yearly exam, shots, weight etc and it was a nice and efficient visit.
Bonus: Since it was my first time and I checked in with Unilocal I received a free nail clipping for my cats which was a nice touch. I examined their nails at home and the vet here did a great job; nails were cut nice & short but not too close where it would be uncomfortable my cats.
In all the visit was 30 minutes and the cost for both cats was cheap compared to my previous vet (vet was in NYC).
I’d recommend this place.
