New Generation Health Center

If you’re in need of any reproductive exams (like a pap smear) or and tests for down there ;), and you don’t have insurance, this is the place for you. I was long overdue for a pap and was referred by a friend in the health care industry. I was able to get an appointment for the very same week and went in wondering just what this place was going to be like.
Everyone I encountered was incredibly nice. I wasn’t rushed along although I barely had to wait. When I was shown to a room, the nurse practitioner revealed her ability to make me at ease almost instantly. Funny, charming and warm, she reminded me more of a friend.
In the end, not only did I not have one penny owed, she even called me to give me good news (they say they’ll only call if it’s bad). They went above and beyond when it wasn’t even necessary.

It baffles me that there would be any bad reviews for New Generation. I have had nothing but great experiences with the staff, the way they handle things, the promptness of service and the cleanliness of the facility. Understanding that people may be visiting them for unpleasant reasons, they know precisely how to make you feel comfortable.
New Generation was recommended to me by a friend in the health care industry for a low-​cost pap smear. I was able to make an appointment for the very next day and they said that the cost would be determined by my income. When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly face and things moved very quickly. I probably waited about 5 minutes before being seen. I was then asked a series of questions then the practitioner came in. She was lovely. Unlike so many other places, she actually seemed like she cared about me and wanted to give me the best care possible. Honestly, I have never experienced this level of care in my life. It felt more like chatting with a family member than a woman I had met moments ago. I knew I had made the right choice. The icing on the cake is that my pay out amount was $ 0 due to a program they are a part of. If you don’t have insurance, this is the place to go.
On top of all of that, she called me about a week and a half later to talk about other concerns we had discussed. I’m now making another appointment for a breast exam. I really don’t know where else you would get that kind of attention.
Call them asap if you’re overdue for a pap smear or suspect anything else my be going on. If there is something wrong, I feel confident that they can be a big help.

This place has probably been the most efficient and friendliest clinic I’ve been to. I just had to write a review because i couldnt believe how fast i got in and out of the clinic. I called for an appointment the day of and got seen within 30mins of my arrival, including the paperwork I neeeded to do since I was a new patient. Everyone knew what they were doing and made me felt comfortable. Just want to specially thank joely, she was very informative and genuine. I highly recommend this clinic :)) #happypatient

I was planning to do a WALK-​IN but decided to do a courtesy call and see if they could even schedule me.
The lady who picked up the phone around 10am was not helpful in any way, she said they were fully booked and might have the physician call me back. Then she tells me they couldn’t do anything for me since I am a first time client.
Mind you, I have an urgent issue about my health and all she can do is turn me down. She insists I try going to another clinic or planned parenthood. I thought going to this clinic than my regular go to clinic would be best since this is closer to home.
Not reliable or professional. I’d rather go to the Women’s Health Clinic on Fillmore.
I’m surprised they have great reviews, probably fake reviews from their own staff. Booo!

I had a really positive experience today at New Generation Health Center. I first tried to get appointments at Planned Parenthood and the Women’s Community Clinic, but they were both booking a 7 – 10 days out and I have a UTI, (urinary tract infection,) which really needs to be taken care of ASAP because it is very painful and can lead to complications. My friend who is a nurse practitioner recommended calling these folks and the receptionist was able to schedule me with a same-​day appointment – amazing!
While I was there I also got a pelvic exam and tested for STIs. Everyone was very thorough and professional (special shout out to NPs Jolie and Andrea, and awesome AmeriCorps volunteer Lizzy). For a low-​cost clinic and the fact that this was my first appointment there, (lots of health history to go over,) I was in and out in good time.

I love this place. Counselor was underatanding. Not judgemental and Doctors were sooo nice and professional. My favorite place to go. They made me feel loved and while the two lady doctor was doing my procedure, they talked to me and made me laugh. I felt really comfortable and reccommend every ladies to come here. No age limit so where u read the age limit stop at 24. They are wrong! New generation is the place to go!!!

I recently moved to San Francisco with my boyfriend and did not have adequate health insurance. I Unilocaled «free clinics in san francisco ca» and new generation popped up. I called them and let them know my situation and they scheduled me for a visit almost immediately. It’s amazing all the FREE services they offer! Although it’s mainly directed for teenagers, they are more than willing to help out adults. I strongly recommend anyone that is sexually active without any type of contraception or coverage to go there. They help out in a big way!

Ever since Planned Parenthood closed down, I started coming here. This clinic provides free and confidential services for women under 25 which is awesome. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They even have parking spaces for clients to park in.

This is the only place I feel most comfortable. I love NGHC! Only thing I hate is waiting for my appointment which can be long.

Great place to get tested free and confidentially. When I went there was no line so I got in and out quickstyle. Super kind friendly and informative staff. Fast results too. Overall excellent experience!

I have been a client at New Gen for two years before moving back east to go to school. All the staff are extremely dedicated to providing high quality and comprehensive services. The clinic is targeting the 12 – 24 year old age range, and does a good job at that with the material they have posted in the waiting room, and through many of the resources they have in the clinic. I have received many services there such as pregnancy tests, STI/​HIV testing, emergency contraception, pap smears and birth control, and have been pleasantly surprised with all of them. It is important to keep in mind with this clinic though, that they are geared towards the younger crowd, and that they are funded through Family PACT, the state’s Medicaid program for family planning services. So yes, it is geared towards low-​income persons without insurance. Like any other free clinic, be prepared to spend some time in the waiting room, and perhaps some more time being shuffled from the health education rooms to the exam rooms. But if you need any other resources or services other than family planning, the clinic staff are always prepared to make that extra effort, and provide help with whatever you need.

I was pleasantly surprised with the service I received from here today. If you are earning no or little income, please call this place to find out if you qualify to be seen for free. The provider that I met and the staff was wonderful. The clinic was clean and very private. The process was quick and efficient. Parking is a bit difficult if you come after 9:30am, just get a ride or take public transportation. They did not hassle for proof of income or proof of address at all, which many places do. They offer free birth control methods, such as the patch, pills, and/​or condoms. Plan B was given to me just in case there was an accident. This place does not look like a 5-​star hotel but you can get what you need.

I didn’t receive financial aid for college, but the government has come through for me by providing free birth control, pap smears. and all that other good stuff. I don’t have my own health insurance and I’m not exactly making it rain just yet, so not having to pay for BC takes a great load off my paycheck.
If you’re over 20 you’ll feel like an old hag coming here, as the health center mostly caters to teenagers, but I like knowing that this kind of service is available for them.
As the previous reviewer mentioned, it’s not the spiffiest place to be at, but the staff is friendly and they never flinch when you ask for an extra bag of jimmies.

Oh the road I traveled to end up overaged at NGHC. I’d rather not talk about it (I don’t know you people that well), but I can’t let this place get by with a single, one-​star review. Suffice it to say, I was a reproductive health test subject reject from the UCSF research center next door. *cough* [awkward silence]. (I know what you’re thinking, and it was migraines that flunked me out, ok? And they felt REALLY bad about it.)
Anyway, when the bottom fell out of my brilliant free experimental birth control scheme, an even more brilliant (and FDA approved!) option was presented to me by NGHC. And they gave me soooo many options. Once we narrowed something down together that I felt confident about, Dr. Suffrin helped me with the procedure. She was super friendly, helpful, and I could tell she was truthful in quantifying the thousands of times she’d performed this particular procedure. I’m way confident the IUD I ended up with won’t turn out defective or cause any infections (and no you will not be updated on such developments) …hzah!
It’s a free reproductive health clinic for women under 25. There is a wait. The lobby ain’t swanky. There are Americorps volunteers working there. Teenagers with babies. That kind of thing. The parking lot is several wrecks waiting to happen.

really really nice counter staff, who were gracious when i was late. unfortunately the doctor who was supposed to give me my pap completely forgot that i was there, even though i was one of two people with an appt. that morning. she seemed to nice too. for being a free clinic i thought this is really not the type of thing you do to low income, uninsured women. i guess it is though. i sat for 20 minutes in a little paper gown waiting for my annual and eventually got dressed, as i had to be at work soon. the counter woman was very apologetic, and asked if i wanted to reschedule. no thank you. i went home and cried because i’d wasted so much time there. another thing: for being so low-​volume that morning, i certainly had a lot of waiting to do.
