Nest Bedding

Recently, I bought a new bed from Nest Bedding and I must say that my quality of sleep has tremendously improved. After researching rival sites, I decided to with this bedding company since their foam beds were «organic» and did not have that chemically smell as opposed to the top 3 competitors for foam beds.
I’m very pleased with the purchase and others have commented on the comfort level of bed as well.

John is by far the most knowledgeable bed man, I have ever met.
He was able to help my wife and I pick out the perfect matress for both of our sleeping habits, and described in detail each of the matresses he had in the floor, what they were made of, and which was best for us.
He didn’t sell us a matress, like normal businesses usually do, he taught us about what we were purchasing, and the how great it was.
I would definitely recommend NEST and John to all of our friends.

I just came home after what was hands down the BEST mattress shopping experience of my life! I used to have a temper pedic but it was smelly (although comfy) and I had to get rid of it when my husband and I moved in together so we could have a bigger bed. I stared shopping online because I’ve heard about all the new online mattress companies (tuft and needle, loom and leaf, Casper, etc etc etc). It’s overwhelming, the reviews are confusing and bottom line: I just don’t feel okay buying a bed Without knowing what it feels like. When I found the Alexander bed online I was delighted to find that they have a store in SF! So I dragged my unenthusiastic husband out of bed and we were there when they opened.
John greeted us and gave us the best service I could have asked for. He’s the perfect person to help you pick out a bed, he really listens to what your needs are and what kind of sleeper you are and gives you all the options. There was no question that we were going to get our mattress here. We ended up with two beautiful pillows, and organic mattress cover and an Alexander bed in medium and I can’t wait for it to arrive! The bed is beautiful to lie on (I was tempted towards the soft version but the medium is pretty darn soft and better for back sleepers). The bed was super reasonably priced and the quality superior… Very natural materials and manufacturing, no gross chemicals or smell, and so so cozy to lie on!
And that unenthusiastic husband of mine? He left pretty darn enthusiastic. He was so impressed with the whole experience that he came straight home and wrote his own Unilocal review (and he doesn’t write Unilocal reviews very often, I’m the Unilocaler in this marriage lol).

I shopped around at all of the big name mattress stores, but none seemed to be as knowledgeable and honest as Nest. John helped me put together an entire bed, from the frame to the duvet cover, and I’ve been sleeping better ever since.

After buying one of the new online start-​up mattresses, I was underwhelmed… so I went back online to search for other options, where I found mention of Nest Bedding’s new Love Bed line. I was pleased to find there was a Nest Bedding showroom right in the East Bay where I could actually try-​out their mattresses. Amber was awesome, and after talking to me for a while about my sleep habits, she steered me toward the Alexander line. I love that they have a soft, medium & firm option rather than the one-​size-​fits-​all approach of most online mattress companies. Prices are impressive considering the quality… I highly recommend stopping by. My mattress is ordered and I look forward to giving it a try (for real) as soon as it arrives!

While this is a nice place to try mattresses, be sure to maintain skepticism of the info they share. Their branding is cleverly designed to build trust, but John at least is a very much a mattress salesperson.
The most egregious example of this was John telling us that lower density foam leads to longer mattress life. When we pressed for more info on this, he even provided a explanation in scientific language for the longer life. This is not true, and is well known not to be true, and the density trade-​off is even discussed on bedinabox’s website, the manufacturer of the mattress in question.
We bought a mattress anyway and initially loved it. We didn’t want to accept that it was getting softer and softer, so we ignored this until waking up with lower back pain 3 days in a row.
Now that we’ve tried to initiate a return, it been three days and four phone calls and we still don’t have an answer on whether and how we can return the mattress. Each time I’ve been assured a prompt response. Most recently, I was assured that an email had already been sent to me.
This has been a disappointing experience with Nest Bedding. That said, the staff at the Albany location seems more helpful and honest. I’d consider doing business with that location in the future.

UPDATE: Joe the owner really came through on this one and personally rescued what was a terrible experience and have made me a believer once again.
About a month back I ordered a full bedding set including sheets, mattress, pillow, comforter, cover, basically everything but the bed itself from Nest. I realized my sheet set did not come with the 2^nd pillow case. I emailed and was told several times that they were trying to reach the vendor to get me a replacement. Long story short, after not really getting anywhere for a whole month, I posted a review on Unilocal and Joe the owner personally reached out to me. He offered to take care of not only the pillow case for me by pulling it from one of their sets in store but refunding me for the set as well. All I wanted this whole time was just a pillow case and had never asked for my money back but I really appreciated the effort in turning this negative into a positive for me. He checked in with me throughout the day to make sure everything would be ready for me when I dropped by.
Thanks Joe, you have really made a fan out of me. I still left one star off since this was a less than perfect experience but I will definitely be back and hopefully my experience was just an awkward one-​off. At the end of the day, despite the mishap in the missing pillow case, I love everything I received and haven’t been one bit disappointed in my mattress.

Best mattress buying experience I have ever had. John was extremely informative and easy going. I am so excited about my purchase and not even set back that much, cash wise. Highly, highly recommend.

If you want to feel good about your mattress buying experience and not be pressured into buying something you don’t want, you will definitely want to check this place out. The store has a great energy and so does the salesperson. John helped us find the perfect upgrade from our hot-​sleeping queen sized memory foam mattress. The bed frame that comes with it is beautiful and practical. Plus, their white glove delivery service includes disposal of our old mattress and box spring.
We know we are going to love our new bed! In fact, we will most likely go back to purchase bedding, now that we know the kind of quality we can expect.

Excellent service + products. John helped us out and he’s very passionate about the business and very attentive towards customers. I wasn’t there for a mattress — I went to get a new pillow and pretty much every pillow I get from target, I hate. I got a memory foam pillow that’s actually shredded memory foam so it’s not so dense and hard like other memory foam pillows. The pillow I got is actually soft and fluffy and provides more circulation bc there’s room for air. Also, you can take out some of the stuffing if the pillow’s got too much stuffing for your taste. The pillow I got from Nest was more than what I usually spend on a pillow, but you use your pillow every night and if your current cheap pillow is giving you back or neck pain then it’s probably worth it to spend a little more for a great pillow!
Will definitely return for any additional bedding needs!

After doing quite a bit of online research, was I THRILLED to find Nest Bedding, right here in San Francisco. From the moment I walked into the super cool store, I was warmly greeted by Joe, the founder and owner of this gem of a company. He was welcoming, helpful, and informative. I was able to try the various mattresses and pillows and was more than happy to give this company my business. I walked out buying a mattress, two pillows, a comforter and a mattress cover. And less than 5 days later, the mattress arrived on my doorstep. Couldn’t have been easier.
And bonus points to Joe for providing my toddler with a fun play space!
Eco friendly, kid friendly, customer service friendly… Nest Bedding has my vote!

I’ve been researching latex beds for months now for my boss (I’m a PA) and while investigating the different companies, I fell in love with them myself. When it came time to buy one I chose Nest Bedding for the following reasons. 1. Reasonable and fair pricing when it comes to organic latex beds. 2. Supporting a smaller, local business is always the way to go in my book. 3. John and Joe the owner, both awesome, knowledgeable AND love dogs. 4. Comfort level of the mattresses and pillows are off the chain! This coming from a lower back and migraine sufferer. This is how one should sleep! And 5. Good Vibes.
Do yourself a favor and go with Nest, I did all the research for you. Easy. Done. Life just got better with Nest.

We purchased the Easy Breather Latex Mattress from Nest Bedding. This is the most comfortable mattress we have ever slept on. In addition, it keeps you cool at night if you are a warm sleeper. And it’s made in the USA. In addition, we purchased their our sheets, pillows and duvet cover from Nest Bedding. I am super impressed with the organic wool comforter as it regulates your body temperature at night. You’d think it would make you hot, it actually keeps your body temperature normal. The service from Nest Bedding was exceptional. John is super knowledgeable and great to work with.

By the time I stepped into Nest I already knew what I wanted: a comfortable king-​sized latex mattress – so the transaction was fast and easy for both parties. The followup after the sale, however, was terrible. First, the salesperson C said I’d get a tracking #; when it didn’t arrive I contacted him and he notified me it was arriving the next day… during a rainstorm. Yes, he gave me 1 day heads up about a major delivery. I asked if the package was signature-​required since I would be at work all day. No reply. Exasperated, I took the day off work to accept the package.
I had also asked in an email about the composition of the blended latex mattress I purchased. C said he’d get me the info. He never did. I reminded him. No reply.
After spending almost $ 3K on the mattress plus protector, I feel like Nest totally dropped me after making a sale. Frankly, that’s exactly what they did. Also, Nest’s silence about the composition of the mattress now has me concerned if they’re trying to hide something. If you’re shopping for a natural/​green mattress I recommend going elsewhere (two stores where I received excellent, transparent answers are Natural Mattress Store and European Sleepworks).

I came here to buy an all natural mattress and found everything I needed including pillows, sheets en frame. We had a ton of questions and John could answer them all.
We had the time to try different beds, different pillows and different configurations.
The delivery was timely and we love the bed. When one of the wires on the frame broke after 2 weeks, we got a new one the next day.
We took a long time finding a good store for natural mattresses and can wholeheartedly recommend this shop.

We were looking at a number of places for a new mattress. We met John in this store and he provided very detailed and informative advice on how to choose a mattress, that fits our needs. When we first laid on our serenity gel mattress with the shredded memory foam pillows, it was like one of those «ahaaaa» moments. We decided to sleep over that, and the next day, went ahead and ordered these items over the phone :) We were still undecided between queen and standard, and John took the time to explain all the particularities… Thank you, John for being so patient with us!
I guess the only thing this shop could improve would be delivery times — it can take almost a week for the mattress to be delivered in SF, which is less than ideal. At the same time, there is no other mattress that could be worth the waiting :)
Updating my review: John just explained that the reason for the delivery being longer is the fact that the shop does not store too many mattresses (which allows reducing cost, resulting in better prices for customers). I think this does make a lot of sense, considering their prices are really impossible to beat :) Therefore, rating as 5 stars.

I finally found a great mattress made in the USA.
We came twice before making our purchase, and I’m glad I did; testing the beds in different moods certainly changed my opinion of which mattress was best for me.
Really interesting to learn the differences in memory foam density, and noodled pillows.
I ended up with an outlast mattress which has a NASA cooling sensation that’s supposed to help hot sleepers stay regulated throughout the night.
Now, if only I could leave with the mattress same-​day. :-)
