Move Loot

I got a fantastic dresser from them for a good price and everything went without a hitch. But the next purchase was weird. I had to re-​schedule delivery because my partner went out of town and I work. They confirmed that, but the delivery people tried to deliver anyway (I got a message on my phone). Then I got an email that they’d refunded my purchase. No reason. What? I asked what was up and was told that the item broke in transit. :-(Why didn’t they tell me? I think they are disorganized. But you can get a really good value. Just don’t do anything complex, like trying to re-​schedule a delivery.

Two guys came by today to pick up the two sofas and coffee table we had arranged to be sold. When they saw that we had a dog, they told us they could not take the furniture as they recently had issues with selling furniture that had pet dander on it to people who are allergic. They could not tell us how/​if we’d get back the $ 50 we spent to have them come out and pick it up and warned us that the customer service line took forever. Major bummer — will not try them again.

Best experience out of a disappointing situation today.
I found the perfect sectional with the most affordable price from here. The movers (Damon and Andrew, according to the SMS alerts) arrived on time and were the coolest, friendliest delivery dudes ever! Unfortunately, a segment of the sofa couldn’t fit in the elevator. Let’s try the stairs… no go. Who the hell designed this building?!? They tried everything even remotely imaginable short of using Crisco to get that sucker in. Still no. Eventually, we gave up and I was close to tears because I really wanted that F-​ing couch! It was beautiful and came in perfect condition… and ¹⁄₃ of it was already up in my living room. Damon and Andrew clearly saw my pain and sympathetically told me they’ll let the office know about my predicament. Give these guys a raise!
Within a couple of hours, I received not one, but two emails from 2 guys from customer service saying they refunded my entire order… checked paypal, and there it was! You guys are just amazing!
I ordered a different sectional from Move Loot tonight. I made sure it’s the modular kind.

I actually love these guys. Minus the super long/​delayed shipping of my sofa, the rest of the experience was a breeeeeze. I registered a complaint about the length of my delivery time and they refunded my fee which was good of them. The $ 39 did not make up for me waiting the 4-​hour window plus another 2.5, but it was good they did it.
Their app and website interface are b-​e-​a-​utiful and their stuff is super cool! I love that that they’ll pick stuff up for you.
Upsides:
— Great prices
— Easy browsing
— Lots of choices
— Free pickup
— $ 39 or free delivery
Downsides:
— Delivery was WAY delayed. If I were you, I’d get stuff delivered in the AFTERNOON because getting it there in the am just wasn’t even real.
— Their phone answering (or lack thereof) is ABYSMAL. Their answering service basically says ‘sorry we’re so busy we can’t ever answer you’. That’s a really dangerous standard for a new business… I hope they can hire enough people to make it work.

I’ve had two good experiences with Move Loot. And one very bad one.
I would have rated them 4 stars. I ordered a bed, and while it was described as «gently used» on their website and it came looking more like «well used,» it’s a high-​quality bed that’s worth $ 1600 new, and I got it for $ 400. I was stoked.
I then ordered a coffee table and dinner table, obviously made by the same furniture maker, described as «rustic reclaimed wood» but in «new» condition. The coffee table arrived fine, though wobbly because one of the legs must be shorter than the others. Small, fixable, normal issue. The dinner table looked fine — until a few days later I pressed on the far end and realized the wood is ENTIRELY cracked through — so much so that it could break if pressed upon with moderate pressure– which will surely happen when having people over to eat dinner on this table. It seemed clearly like it must have happened in the delivery — but I wasn’t made aware of this by the movers, if they even knew about it (which they may not have). I looked underneath to find more damage. It’s definitely a physical injury of some kind, and the table isn’t safe to use for its intended purpose because of it.
I emailed Move Loot to request a refund. They asked for photos of the damage. I sent, explaining the damage is hard to see from photos, but when pressed you can feel the cracked-​through wood and see that it’s about to break off. However — you can definitely view the giant crack in the wood from the photos. I was told «It is listed as a „Reclaimed Wood Dining Table“ so I think it is supposed to have a slightly rougher, more rustic feel to it,» and was offered a 25% refund or a return.
The thing that bothers me is that it’s obviously damaged. My friend came over and without knowing any back story, told me I should return the table from where I got it, because it’s damaged. That friend used to be a furniture maker who worked with reclaimed wood. For their customer service to insinuate that it’s not, and is just «rustic and reclaimed,» feels shady and dishonest to me. Something stinks. They’re trying to make a buck off of ripping off a customer who received a damaged item. I can find another small business to buy furniture at who will use more honesty and decency. It seems like basic practices to not sell a customer a damaged item, and to fully refund them if you do, and make every effort to right the situation if the customer paid money for a «new» item and received a damaged one. Dishonesty, customer manipulation — no thank you. Going elsewhere in the future.

I submitted a brand new, never used, coffee table that I had owned for less than 5 hours. I had just purchased it for $ 230 and it didn’t fit well in my apartment. I didn’t feel like hassling with returning it, so I opted to see how much I would get by trying to sell it on Move Loot. They offered me less than $ 30.
Going off of what they’re selling online — my coffee table was incredibly nice and they would have easily sold it for $ 200+.
Won’t be trying to sell or shop there anymore.

Do not buy from Move Loot: they’re a terrible, incompetent company. I bought a table from them, which arrived with two deep disfiguring gouges on its top. The damage probably happened during the delivery process, because it wasn’t visible in the photos, and the table was described on the Move Loot site as ‘gently used.’ So, I returned it.
It took Move Loot two weeks to refund my credit card, after I’d sent four emails and finally threatened to dispute the charge with my credit card company. And, they held back a $ 50 «return fee» from what I’d originally paid. Upshot: I wasted a ton of time and energy scheduling and waiting for them to drop off and then pick up the damaged table, am out fifty dollars, and got absolutely nothing for any of it, not even an apology. Horrible company.

Terrible customer service. I’ve emailed them a few times for help purchasing because I placed a bid and the bid was accepted but I could not add the item to my cart using the link they emailed me. After initially replying the customer service agent just stopped replying all together. So unprofessional and rude.

Was excited to try Move Loot for the first time, the app is well designed and easy to use with an awesome selection of well priced furniture. I found a wicker trunk and a unique painting and placed an order through the app.
When the day arrived for the delivery, after waiting several hours into the delivery window, I was e-​mailed by a customer service rep notifying me that the wicker trunk would be delayed a few days — due to shipping. The rep then reassured me that the painting would deliver that day. An hour later they e-​mailed again saying that the wicker trunk was completely lost and I would not be receiving it. Another hour passed and the painting was delivered. I opened it up to find that it was not the painting that I had ordered. I contacted the Move Loot rep and informed him that the painting was incorrect. The rep apologized, offered to have the painting picked up and said they would look for the original painting that I had ordered.
I scheduled the pick up for the following Saturday. That Saturday I proceeded to wait all day and the painting was never picked up. I attempted to contact Move Loot multiple times received no response. I still have the painting and have not be refunded for the wicker trunk nor the painting… Needless to say this was the first and last time I will be using Move Loot.

I ordered a couch before reading the reviews here, and needless to say I was extremely worried in the days leading up to my scheduled delivery. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised, and everything went very smoothly. The movers called me a few hours before my scheduled time to see if they could come earlier (which was fine by me), they were polite and professional, they got the couch in without damaging anything, and then they unwrapped it for me. The couch itself wasn’t great, but it was exactly as described on the website (and it was $ 56, so I’m not complaining!).
Overall, my experience was very good and I’d definitely consider moveloot for any of my future furniture needs.

OK, so I don’t HATE Move Loot, but there were certain things that have happened in dealing with them that neglect them from being five stars. That being said, there is a wide range of selection on the Move Loot website, and my boyfriend and I bought the majority of our second hand furniture from Move Loot because of the convenience of delivery and assembly upon arrival.
That being said, Move Loot can be a bummer because they don’t have the ability to combine coupon codes. I know that a lot of sites don’t have that option, but it would be helpful in this case. On the flip side, the fact that ML has sales and pretty good deals over all is nice. I wish they were a little more transparent about the quality of the furniture upfront. The professionally done pictures make it look nice, but I wish they would zoom in on the imperfections so buyers know what they’re getting ahead of time. That being said, I can’t complain too much because I bought a lot of my furniture through them.
I think the reason Move Loot isn’t five stars is because of the delivery and the logistics behind delivery. I’m not sure if they use an independent contractor, but we specified a certain delivery time and they were pretty late (maybe 2 hours, I believe?) My boyfriend and my mother had to stay home the entire day to have them deliver and set up. That being said, because they DO install the furniture for you, I understand why they would be running late. Unfortunately, they are also not very careful with the furniture. We ended up buying a bedroom furniture set from them, and there was an entire piece missing (I believe a cabinet?,) and the bed frame was heavily damaged and missing a lot of slats, which was not described in the notes. The damaged markings were not indicated on Move Loot’s website, and must have been damaged through transit and delivery. The good thing about Move Loot’s return policy is that if you are not happy with the furniture, you can return it on the spot with a money back guarantee. This was a plus, and I believe the Customer Service even gave us another coupon because of the heavy damage done to the set, as well as the missing piece. They offered to give us the set again, but we declined, as the damage on the bed frame had already been done.
I have never sold furniture on this website, so I cannot speak to that. But if you are looking for second hand furniture with delivery included, I wouldn’t hesitate to use Move Loot. Just make sure you’re ok with flexible delivery times and make sure those delivery men are being careful!

Harry and Keith
My cell phone rang around 215pm today. I picked up and Keith was on the other end of the line. He informed me they were near my house (I was at work, my wife working from home). I confirmed this, letting them know they were all set to deliver our order. Keith made sure I knew they would take care of everything…
10 minutes later I received a text from my wife letting me know how incredibly friendly, courteous, efficient, and fast Harry and Keith were. We never write reviews on Unilocal,but she made sure to express her interest in doing so for this experience.
5 stars for Harry and Keith. Way to knock it out of the park on a Friday afternoon.

If you’re looking to sell furniture, you won’t get much money out of Move Loot.
They offered me $ 125 for a like-​new couch that was $ 1000 originally. From the looks of their site, they will turn around and sell it for about $ 400 – 500.

Pros: some of the sofas are nice
Cons: everything else is crap, and the deliveries are ALWAYS hours late. Literally hours.

Holy cow! I can’t believe all the bad reviews here, it’s so different than my experience with moveloot has been. I mean, I swung by to yell it from the rooftops, I’m so pleased.
They were referred to me by a friend and first, the prices are phenomenal. And free shipping to boot. Second, I’ve placed three orders for four pieces of furniture now, and have had questions before and after the order for each. The customer service is what I really want to rave about. They are quick, friendly and even personable over email.
It’s a little frustrating for me when I can’t call folks, and you can’t with moveloot. But it doesn’t matter in this case. They are so fricken great!

Moveloot made my move to SF much easier than expected! I had no way of picking up furniture from Craigslist without a car, so Moveloot was a lifesaver with their free delivery (over $ 299).
The movers have been friendly and helpful. They were even happy to show me how to set up my bed frame. Keith and Brendan genuinely cared if I was happy with the furniture and had no problem taking returns.
Although a few items arrived damaged and that was disappointing, I was able to find something better on their site within a couple of days. Customer service has been great the two times I ran into billing/​damage issues. I left a message and was contacted the same day.
I’m able to save money, re-​purpose furniture and avoid manual labor thanks to the service. If you’re on a low budget and don’t have a car, I highly recommend Moveloot!

Jeremy and Harry did a good job delivering an arm chair I ordered. Delivery window was 10:30am-11:30am and they gave me a heads up at 10:45am and arrived at 11am.
I did have a previous experience attempting to sell items on Moveloot in which I was rejected, but the items were fairly low value. They could be more explicit about only wanting items above $ 100 or wherever that line is.

This was my first time using Move Loot to sell furniture. I was a little bummed because I waited for the 1 hour window for the delivery and no one came.
After replying to the text message confirmation (they didn’t pick up their phone and the email they list in the voicemail recording is invalid) Nikko got back to me really quickly to let me know that they somehow missed my submission.
He immediately worked to find a moving team in the area that could come pick up my furniture an hour later. Keith and Harry were great and really friendly and turned around my attitude towards this whole experience.
During the inspection, they let me know that unfortunately my couch was too loved (stained) for pick up, and expressed their sincerity that they couldn’t take it. They let me know that Move Loot now has a new «removal» fee where you can have them take your stuff, even if Move Loot can’t sell it. However, the workflow in place meant that I had to resubmit the couch and would need to reschedule another pickup (which unfortunately would be after my scheduled move out).
I emailed Nikko while Keith and Harry were packing up to go, and he immediately (we are talking 30 – 60 seconds) got back to me saying that if the team was still there they could take away my couch. I’m so thankful that I had immediate email support and Harry and Keith were so willing to wait to help me. Seriously, those two were the most professional/​caring team I have interacted with and it made my whole week that I was able to move out my couch and have great guys helping! Thanks to Keith, Harry, and Nikko for your support, especially after a negative first experience with my missed pick up. You all deserve a raise!

I did not come to the store, But I did try to sell a product an got terrible customer service online.
There’s a new service called Moot Loot. Similar to other online services, people can sell items online and either get a payout or donate the items if they do not sell for a tax write off. The concept is honorable and in theory it sounded nice. But Move Loot has terrible customer service. I had a four-​year-​old couch that had been beaten up a bit by my dogs. I attempted to submit it as an item for consideration.
On the submission form, I told them the dogs had worn out the couch, that it smelled like dog pee, and had stains on it. I took around 15 pictures of the couch and submitted them all. I figured my couch would never be accepted.
But it was.
So I set up a date for them to pick up the couch, planned my day around it to work from home, and they even sent me a certification of insurance in a timely manner. Then the day came and the movers showed up and rejected my furniture. Which, was their right, what was inflammatory is that the mover volunteered a criticism saying that the pictures I took and the descriptions of the couch was not what he saw. He said «You’re pictures are nice» whereas the couch is not. I told him, that I explained everything to them, including the stains, since I did not want to waste my time with it being rejected. He them referred to the pictures again, took a picture of the couch, and showed me his picture and said «See, this is a clear picture, Yours are not.» I could not respond. He was accusing me of attempting to game the system so I could possible sell my couch.
I’d recommend everyone find a service with better customer service.
