Mulhall Construction

We hired Mulhall Construction for a major renovation of our Outer Sunset home originally built in 1912. The project required demolition of the rear 3 levels of of a 2 unit house, gutting the interior, new foundation, major structural work, and completing all the work down to the final paint and finish details.
#1 Best Thing: Project was completed as close to budget as possible. There were the inevitable things found when you open up an old house, dry rot, etc. Plus we added and upgraded other work as the project progressed. All charges were agreed upon and reasonable before work began. Payments were scheduled and due as work and project phases were completed.
#2 Best Thing: Project was completed as close to the projected timeline as possible. Although we had to move back in before everything was finished, Eamon and his crew had the place livable for us by our move-​in date. Their crew was always polite, and kept work areas neat while they continued to finish the project around us.
#3 Best Thing: The quality of the sub-​contractors was excellent. Just as important as the general contractor. I was impressed with the thoroughness of their work and the attention to details. It’s the company they keep that says a lot about Mulhall Construction
This review would not be complete without a special mention for Eamon the project manager. I don’t know how he did it, but he took drawings on paper and built us a beautiful new home. He answered a thousand and one questions, communicated progress continuously, and at times I thought the man must never sleep.
Adrian the owner is the nicest and one of the most honest businessman I know. We are glad we trusted his advice regarding some of the changes we wanted. He was there to address any concerns we had. He kept his eye on the progress as well as making sure we were satisfied with the work.
Without a doubt we are glad we selected Mullhall Construction for this project. Absolutely we will choose them again for our next project.

A year after our kitchen remodel, all is well. I appreciate the lasting quality of workmanship. When bumps arose during the project, Adrian quickly stepped in to address and resolve them and ensured satisfaction. He was also accommodating when scheduling problems arose outside his or my control. Adrian’s attentiveness and professionalism were key to a successful outcome and much appreciated.

The quote was high, about $ 3k higher than other bids. (minus 1 star), but he was the only one that could do it in the time frame I needed. He went over the time frame (Minus 1 star). After he went over the time frame he called me 3 times a day and my real estate agent demanding the balance that was due to him. I was never informed the work was complete. I was informed that his work was almost complete and that there was contractor mess all over my backyard at the time of the final walk through, which doesn’t signal to me that it is complete. He was frantic about the money and rude (minus 1 star).
He did a good job, on the actual fence. I wouldn’t use him again.

Mulhall Construction, which I believe just changed their name to Marvel Architecture, replaced part of our foundation in late 2011. Their bid was reasonable. They showed up exactly when they said they would. Communication was clear, except for a mixup in the beginning where they believed we already had permits when in fact we merely had approved plans. The mixup was handled well. The job foreman really cared and took pride in his work. The project manager kept me in the loop the whole time regarding timing and there were no surprises. We were very happy with the work, the professionalism of everyone involved, and the speedinees with which the job was done. We would use them again.

Left a VM for these guys. I got a call back a week later and talked to Adrian. He told me to e-​mail him the condo conversion inspection report that I received from DBI, which I did. He replied that same day and said that he would look over the report and get back to me. That was 3 weeks ago. Still haven’t heard back from them. Oh well.

Adrian helped us with work the city required for our condo-​conversion. He was quick, reliable (always showed up when he said he would, which I now know is unusual), and recommended a great plumber too! His prices were fair, and he didn’t upsell us. The work we asked him to do wasn’t sexy or something he’ll be putting on his site – but it was exactly what we needed. Now that we’re through the conversion and are looking for more specialized work, we’ll definitely be calling him back.

These are a bunch of hard-​working men, whom every time I pass by greet me with a smile and kind word. I may not pass by as frequently as a previous reviewer, however in my experience, I would strongly disagree completely with what was stated in the previous review. I actually am considering hiring these guys because of their consideration, cleanliness, and charm. Construction occurs… nobody likes noise — I get it. It’s my belief that the team tries thier hardest to minimize the impact during the renovation. And the house there is looking great. Can’t wait to see what it’s like when it’s finished.

The work these guys do is probably fine; that being said, this review is from the perspective of a neighbor (just 2/​3rds of a block down the street) of someone who hired them–
They are not very concientious of our neighborhood. They blast talk radio and classic rock starting at 8 am sharp, create huge sawdust messes, smoke copiously and the foreman/​owner (?) seems to spend a fair amount of his time washing his truck in the street. This truck is not even a work truck– it is an advertisement for his business (it has the company name on the side) that has been taking up YET ANOTHER rare parking space for weeks on end (in addition to the 3 or 4 spaces they already have the red signs up for). This is not the only advert though! There is also the billboard-​sized tarp with a photo ad for his company covering the entire building. This was put up after the first tarp they installed got ripped apart by the wind and flapped about loose all weekend. Why do no contractors think about the people around them?

A.D. Mulhall Contruction did a small, yet very important front door job for me and I couldn’t have recieved any better treatment. The communication, the coordination of timing and the final result was expertise all the way. I will highly recommend them and kepp them in mind for any future jobs that I might need done.

Adrian has done several jobs on my house, including residing, replacing outdoor stairs, creating an attic, and dropping in new stairs to connect floors. He is a man of his word, totally professional, and not happy until the customer is. Adrian brings a great team with him for every job. Our house value has increased thanks to his excellent work.

Adrian helped to completely transform my house! Including completely re-​doing the existing kitchen and bathroom, adding a new half-​bath and laundry room, building a new eat-​in sunroom that joins onto the kitchen, and building new back stairs to the yard, and… most dramatically… stripping the stucco from the front of the house and restoring the original Victorian/​Edwardian façade. The front of the house was utterly transformed and my house instantly went from just about the ugliest house on the block to, no exaggeration, the loveliest house on the block. I really enjoyed working with Adrian — he’s extremely talented, reliable, honest, hard-​working, and easy to talk to. The job was finished on time and I would absolutely recommend Adrian to anyone in need of a contractor — I would be happy to work with him again myself!

We’ve had a couple of projects done by Adrian and the guys. First, they put in some stairs for us connecting our downstairs. Beautiful work and very, very reasonable. He was a pleasure to deal with and helped us understand the ins and outs of the project. We recently had him come back deal with some wood rot on the back of our house. This was a scary project as we did not know what we were going to find. He stayed on budget and made suggestions on how we can reconfigure things to avoid problems in the future. I really can’t recommend Adrian enough.
