Motel Capri

On the outside you don’t know what to expect but on the inside, our room, 317, was very clean and comfortable. I just want to mention the shower head was very big and the water covage was fantastic and kept me warm.
The customer service was dynamite. The continental breakfast wasn’t anything special but at least they had coffee which I find a necessity.
We paid 220 for the room but we didnt didnt have to worry about parking, everything was nearby, we felt safe, the location was prime and I would come back! ⁵⁄₅ despite the whack continental breakfast.

My out of town friends booked this hotel through Expedia since I live in a small flat. Both my friends and I told the motel they would get in late. They arrived around 11 p.m. and could not rouse any response from motel personnel. They rang the bell and called the phone numerous times but got no response. They had no place to sleep that night, even though it was prepaid. The motel eventually refunded one night’s stay, but this is scant comfort when you’re tired from a cross country flight. I will never recommend the Capri again.

My boyfriend and I stayed about a week in SF and found Motel Capri on Priceline. It was priced at $ 135/​night when I first booked it, totaling $ 1030. Not bad at all considering it had it’s own bathoom (alot of places in SF for cheaper had a only a shared bathroom) and free parking. The room was clean, the hotel was super cute as well, vintage feel to it. We always had great housekeeping too.
Best part of all is that we were central to everything! We were 10 minutes away from Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, Golden Gate Bridge, Japantown etc. The area was next to Russian Hill where we got to drive on some insane hills with a gorgeous view! Neighborhood was quiet but 2 minutes away (walking distance) from alot of eateries, banks and a Starbucks.
Definitely consider staying here if you are thinking about vacationing in SF and want to be central to everything. ;) There is a $ 100 deposit for cleaning you’ll have to cough up upon arrival that will credited back once you check out.

For a motel this one was decent. The area is really good for waking around shops and restaurants. Blocks away from the beach, the Mrs. Doubtfire house, a park. The room was clean and parking wasn’t a problem. Overall my stay there was pleasant

Ok, so I stayed at this motel for two days, but I loved it here! First off, FREE parking! How great is that?! The location is just right. There’s a Bank of America, Mexican, Italian, and a pizza take-​out place just a block away as well as a liquor store. How convenient is that?! The room my friend and I stayed in was pretty nice. Clean, and spacey for two people. We literally spent the day walking because they are near the pier (30 mins walk) so that was nice. And there’s a park around there as well :) Only thing is that the walls are thin, so you can hear the people that are in the next room, which is not much of a big deal. I mean, c’mon, this isn’t a super luxurious hotel, it’s a motel. I forgot to take pictures of the room to show how nice looking it was. Will definitely come back to this place when I visit again.

We got upgraded from the Greenwich Inn a few blocks over due to renovations, naturally we were a little hesitant, but it turned out great! PRICELINE strikes once again.
We stayed in one of the bottom handicapable rooms, big bed, big bathroom, microwave AND a minibar? with no extra charge for wifi? SCORE!
Had a great sleep, plenty of parking and they provide a complimentary breakfast (danish & coffee). I’ll say it again SCORE!

I have stayed here 3 times. The rooms are always clean and a good size, they even have a room with 3 queen size beds. Check in is always easy and the staff is very informative. The location is really good only about a 20 minute walk from Garadhalli square, and there is a bar across the street as well as a few others only about 3 blocks away. The only thing I do not like is the small parking spaces but on the positive side parking is included with your stay.

My sister in law found this place for me while my hubby is in ICU at California Pacific Medical Center. I stayed from the 5^th to today. I had to leave today as they were booked from today through Thursday. But I spoke to Ricky and he is awesome, on Friday the 18^th I am coming back and staying as long as needed. I am happy we found a place with such nice people. The rooms are very clean and you get free parking also.

I liked this place. A great reasonably prices place that is in a nice area of the city. The bed was very comfortable. The only downside was the walls are thin. The bathroom was very retro. The flat screen TV was great. I’d stay here again.

Terrible customer service and seconding other reviewers who have mentioned the creaky, uncomfortable beds. Rooms also smell horribly musty — opening windows didn’t help. But worst of all is the awful customer service. And it continues, I made the mistake of forgetting my coat and am still trying to retrieve it. Two Fedex pickups where the staff failed to hand over the coat packaged in a box (yes, the first time the person seemed to think it was sufficient to just give the Fedex guy the coat alone). Every time I call it’s a hassle, the staff is unresponsive and unhelpful. Stay somewhere else — I know SF hotels are expensive but you find something better, trust me.

It’s midnight. I’m getting tired of listening to the people above us. Whether it be stomping around or… well… you can probably guess what else we’ve heard this evening. No thanks. I mean, it’s partially not their fault; there are a lot of issues with this motel. First, the beds are the creakiest I’ve ever heard in my life. It sounds like there’s a howling demon in there whenever you move at all. Not sure why you would to partake in certain activities on this bed and not realize that everyone in the neighborhood can hear you. Second, the walls (and apparently floors/​ceilings) are extremely thin and you can hear everything.
I’m going to continue this in the morning, when I’m hopefully refreshed.
2 AM UPDATE: So if you like listening to drunk women stomp up and down the stairs in heels, then you will love this motel. Oh, and they’re no one trick ponies either! No sir! They also loudly vomit in their bathrooms and you can clearly hear every detail through the walls. If that doesn’t persuade you to stay here, then maybe I should add that there are hooligans running amuck at all hours of the night and you can hear it all through your windows that are apparently as thin as a tissue. (I have no idea what people are talking about this being a quiet area.)
Okay, we checked out and left ASAP. I mean, it’s not the worst motel I’ve been to. It’s clean and it’s a place to stay with free parking. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized it is quite expensive for what it is (maybe because I booked last minute but this place should never breach $ 100, seriously). The employees here are so weird. We had a maid just stand in the middle of the path, knowing full well we were trying to get around her. She completely ignored us for a good minute, while we awkwardly stood there with no way around. The people at the front desk were extremely slow at checking us in. It was also a weird atmosphere.
Oh how I could go on. And I will. After I washed my face I patted it dry with a face cloth and my face broke out in red bumps within minutes… ummm? I mean it smelled heavily of bleach, but a rash?!! The toilet is weird and smells terrible when you flush it. Like a sewage problem? I’m not a plumber, so…
There’s also a, like… booby trap in the bathroom? I don’t know what else to call it because it serves no other purpose than to trip you while you’re trying to go in. Why is it there?!
Here’s another thing that stuck out to me: the doors. The doors are too big for their frames, so you have to force them open and shut. This results in an ass-​load of noise. People were slamming their doors like no tomorrow all through the night.

I don’t know how people stayed here for a week and thought this place was charming and pleasant. The motor inns located on Lombard street are similarly priced and about 100 times better. Unfortunately for me they were all booked solid.

Great find as a last minute place to stay in San Francisco! Free parking, the rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable, and the bathrooms could use updating but still do the job! The gentleman at the front desk was also very nice and super helpful. Bonus: a small free continental breakfast in the morning that consisted of coffee, juice, pastries, and cereal.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I booked through
, had a reservation confirmation and even called the hotel the night before to ask if they had a crib for my daughter. They confirmed my room but said they had no cribs. When I arrived to check in, they had NO record of my reservation and the hotel had ZERO vacancies! You would think good business practice would be have a few rooms for situations like this but that was NOT the case and they told me they «cannot help me».
was even surprised that they did not recommend I call them to get help finding another room. They left me high and dry.

Great hidden gem in SF. Cheapest price I found in SF and it’s located in the middle of the marina district. Close to Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39, and its also close to a pickup spot for the Big Bus hop on hop off which I recommend to anyone visiting SF for the first time. Motel Capri isn’t one of those high end types of hotels but it certainly gets the job done. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return!

Just spent 3 nights here and it was a great motel!
Room’s ate very clean, well made, and the beds are very comfy.
It offers parking which is good and it is very quiet and off the main road.
I would recommend this motel and will be back.

Had a very pleasant week long stay in this charming motel. The staff is courteous and very service oriented. The facility is well maintained and the rooms have been updated. Always having a free parking space in San Francisco is a plus.

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend before being married in June of 2008. I thought it had a lot of character. The shower was amazing! Great water pressure and a little seat if you need a break. Comfy mattress, weird green, but clean, carpet and relatively safe. There was a sign on the back of the door that said, No moleste. Which was a little funny to us until we figured out it meant do not disturb. Many memories made that weekend! Thanks San Fran. Can’t wait to see you again!

SUMMARY: Completely EXCEEDED our expectations. Great price, great location, 2 blocks from Union St. (a very nice walking part of the city with great restaurants, shops and bars) as well as the Marina/​Ghiradelli Square. Would go back to stay there without thinking twice.
The room was on par or better than hotels I’ve stayed at where I paid $ 200/​night… and we paid $ 99 for New Years Eve! (I booked thru Orbitz a few months in advance) But couldn’t really believe how nice the room was when we got there.
The room seemed brand new– renovated, with nice dark wood furnishings and a comfy king bed. Nice big flat screen TV with cable. Clean bathroom with a small sunlight! Microwave and fridge too. Breakfast included in the morning, checkout at 11 which was generous.
Downsides: a little (not bad really) noisy due to the type of people that stay (cheaper price brings a different type of crowd). Not much parking AT the hotel, but the surrounding neighborhood had plenty and we found a spot easily.
To summarize, if you are 24 years old, on a budget, and want a cheap place to stay in one of the best, quiet, dare I say «posh» neighborhoods in the city, Motel Capri is the place to be. It was just another one of the many reasons why our SF NYE was one for the books.

Motel Capri is located in the Marina/​Cow hollow side of town. The exterior to me looks like one of those 1980ish type of motels, but going inside in one of the rooms does away what you might think from the exterior.
There was a loiterer right outside the steps who was upset of room rates for him, he was just chillin’ out there but he was pleasant and was no harm, that dude was like a door mat greeter (as an explorer like myself you just gotta love the boiling pot of rebellious frisco lol), don’t trip! he didn’t hangout too long.
The rooms seems to be renovated new carpet and clean walls decent closet space and the bath was clean and is modernized (I like that slant style bath exterior, pretty cool). I even used their mini fridge to store a couple of my Monster Java drinks. Also there is cable TV (with good selections of channels even adult channels if your willing to get billed) along with a flat screen mounted on the wall.
The added points for Motel Capri is location! My wife and I walked up some steep steps maybe some blocks way and even took some pictures from our point of view of the bay right after that, we ended up finding the Fillmore district which consist of boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants. East of Capri there are more restaurants and some shops as well if your willing to walk and explore by foot.
Customer service here was pleasant when we arrived, there was parking inside their lot but they were willing to rearrange their cars to make a spot for you, other than that parking maybe a challenge. The staff here even provided us a map and gave us friendly directions to where ever we wanted to go.
Overall I recommend this place for travelers who appreciate the culture of SFO and to explore districts. Those who are just in for plain tourism and want something like a person with a silver spoon in one’s mouth, it is not for you!
Decent rates if you can get a deal, naturally.
