Michelangelo Playground

Great benches and layout. Plenty of space for everybody. It is almost as if the park has four separate areas for people to be in:
1) There is the basketball court if you want to play some ball or hit a tennis ball against the wall.
2) There are decks where you can have picnics and BBQ. I have seen a number of birthday parties here — both for adults and children. Also, there are a few dog groups that have meet ups here. One time I saw the dachshund group which was fun.
3) The neighborhood run garden plots are in the back right, where you can still feel like you have a garden even if you live in an apartment.
4) The shaded walkway and grassy area in the center where many people come to read, sit and just enjoy being outside. Thankfully I have never seen any rogue dog excrement here — so I think the owners really do care about keeping the park nice for everyone.
It’s a great little park with a fantastic usage of space.

Run down & dirty little play area for kids. Needs some TLC.

I would have never found this place if it weren’t for Unilocal.It’s such a great place to bring your children. They have a few picnic tables, a basketball hoop, a garden and a small playground set. Great place to have a picnic with friends and family, you can even throw a party here.

Michaelangelo Park is a hidden gem. This place contains a small playground with slides, sand box, a single basketball court, a small gardening area, a good sized patch of grass, two picnic tables, and several benches.
I usually bring my dog here to play and occasionally with relatives to hang out and a few times to play basketball. It is a great park to bring small children to that is secluded and hidden in this neighborhood. It is more often empty and so it will feel like you have the park to yourself. The only thing that will likely keep people from coming here Is the steep hill it’s situated on, but hey its a nice warm up getting to this place.
Be forewarned though: twice I’ve brought my dog here and let him lose off the leash and twice he’s come home having fleas. Not sure if it’s here or some other source but just beware of what lurks in the grass and plants. Don’t want an infestation, but otherwise it’s a nice park.

Quiet, small park in Russian Hill. Has basketball courts, climbing structure for lil ones & some grassy space.
Also, picnic tables perfect for lunch! Great neighborhood gem!

Cute little park in a little tucked away secret location. Great amenities such as green space to picnic on, playground, picnic tables, basketball court, beautiful landscaping and community garden.
However, the playground area is pretty run down, the recycling bin usually overflowing from the Friday happy hours that take place here which then blows around the park the rest of the week, and people bring their dogs to the small bit of grassy area to «do their business».
My other issue is that it seems every Friday afternoon, right during prime playground time for the toddler’s in the neighborhood, they are either sprinkling the lawn, mowing the grass, or doing some sort of maintenance. The park isn’t that big so it usually requires moving strollers, toys, and other objects strategically around the park while the workers work. But, at least they are doing the upkeep!

I love this park. It’s lovely and beautiful. I must say whoever designed this park or whatever is amazing !! It’s just so wonderful and different from other parks. There’s basketball hoops and a really nice comfortable area to sit and have a birthday party or have a picnic.

Wow, this is such a beautiful park/​playground, truly a hidden gem in the North Beach/​Russian Hill neighborhood.
Attended a kid’s first birthday here today and truly impressed. Lots of parking in the vicinity, serene, quiet and definitely a great picnic spot.
Only drawback is the lack of shade since it was such a sunny and hot day today. But nonetheless by 5pm, the breeze rolled in and everyone truly enjoyed themselves, adults and kids alike…

It’s way up there sandwiched between two buildings, on Russian Hill. It’s a small multi-​level park, well loved by its slightly run down wood stairs and an old play area, a small community garden, asphalt courts and various seating among various big trees and plants. It’s pretty quiet most of the time with exception of some local kids. Nice big fern grotto area in the back for quite respite.
Update: Sorry, Corn! I think the steep hills will keep the crowds at bay.
