This place has some excellent experiences for the under 5s. There are only a couple of panic spots where the child can get hurt eg swing and height without a barrier but it only needs supervision. I like the mural based on children’s artwork on tiles. It is a very popular place and as long as people remember to shut the gates behind them a safe place too.

Watch out for animal turds in sand near bronze sculptures, in particular the starfish. My kid picked one up to show me. WTF. Another reason why we left the Marina for the burbs. Inconsiderate pet owners who don’t give a… crap…about kids.

Fun spot for kids to get outside — away from electronic gadgets and TV. Fenced in playground with lots of play structures, sand and assorted kid equipment. Bathrooms nearby at rec center — a real bonus — and they’re safe and relatively clean! 4 stars.

The Moscone Park Playground, parents on laptops and phones doing the best they can to ignore their children. That could be a standard San Francisco Playground. At this park however, its common practice. I like this one quite a bit. It has access to a bathroom at the next door recreation center. It has a real seesaw or teeter-totter and and a merry go round. I have used the picnic table on many occasions. Lots of benches in the shade.
