Established in 2004, MTA has worked on the premise that functionality and aesthetics are both essential to a successful project. The use of space and materials to create warm and unique modern design is a hallmark of the firm.

History

Established in 2004.

After working for other architects for 15 years, Michael set out on his own to help make people’s lives better by working collaboratively with owners and end users to create spaces that they love to be in.

From age 5 as a Lego designer and builder, to now Michael has always loved both design and the process of making. He thus approaches work with builders as a collaboration, getting the best project in the most cost effective way.

He takes this knowledge into the classroom as an adjunct professor of architecture at CCA in San Francisco, teaching emerging professionals how buildings are assembled.

After Graduating with an Architecture degree from the University of Michigan, Michael attended Graduate School at UC Berkeley setting up roots in the Bay Area. He was fascinated in the rich tradition of innovation in Bay Area Architecture, lifestyle and business. His love of mid century modern design is evidenced by the teak conference table and teak chairs in the office and at his home.

An avid cyclist, Michael’s fondness for the outdoors is carried through in his design work, connecting interiors and exteriors.

Michael thinks it simply doesn’t get better than looking at the skyline, bay and bridges from our Dogpatch studio. Does it? If you are in the neighborhood drop by for a glass of red wine and talk modern architecture.
