McCauley, Wilson & Butterfield

I wonder how these guys conduct their due diligence or investigations? I received a threatening harassing letter from Mr. McCauley stating that some members of the community wrongfully accused me of laundering commercial materials for my own business. Mr. McCauley did not even make an attempt to call or to come to the property to either make sure that in fact, this is, taking place or to try investigate the matter. He choose Defamation as a better strategy to deal with it. I wonder what else he’s overlooking. Maybe the fact that the condo is located in a probably less desired area. May imply to him that he’s communicating with a lower level of homeowners. I hope not… and you’re not!
This is a very bad start at least with my persona. You have created a very upsetting situation in my house creating stress and misbalance. You have tinted my reputation with other homeowners as well as assuming that I am breaking the law by doing my personal small towels which I use for personal use in my property to clean my house and dogs. Defamation, bad communications with homeowners and bad due diligence is a not a good way to practice. Stay away from this Company as they may get other homeowners in trouble. I’m not satisfied with this company managing our property if this is the way they go about it…
STAY AWAY…

I have sold one house, rented one apartment, and bought two homes with Gary Goldberg and Gary McCauley in San Francisco. I also utilized their rental property service when I needed to evict a tenant who decided to pay rent on his own time and then decided to stop all together. A third party is always helpful in this situation. They did recommend a lawyer who was very thorough and helped me sell that condo very quickly as the housing market was tanking.
Both Gary’s have been great as landlords and advisors. They are calm and not crazy. If anything they calmed my craziness. They continue to respond when I need advice, such as turning a TIC to a Condo, Estate Planning, Eviction, Home Renovations, etc. As a tenant they were prompt in their responses and fixed everything I needed in a very prompt manner. I still miss and love my apartment on Grattan and Stanyan in Cole Valley with parking and a view. Much of this was due to Manop who is very responsive.

Manop is amazing! Gary (both of them) are great! This management company is wonderful! This was my first apt. in SF — I moved from Atlanta in March 2007. I looked at the apt. in early Jan., knew I wanted it, but wasn’t planning on moving until Feb. They put the effective date of the lease as Feb. 1, so I didn’t have to pay extra for the time I wasn’t going to be there. They’re just wonderfully accomodating. I wish I didn’t have to leave, but my boyfriend moved and we needed more than just a studio. The building was kept very clean, it was super safe, there was a washer/​dryer in the garage. If I decide to move from my current apt, you best believe I’ll be calling them.

These guys managed an apartment I lived in a few years ago.
My underfloor heating furnace broke and I was left without heat for months while they tried to fix it in the cheapest possible manner. After their «repair» the heater would run for a minute or two and then start smoking. .. inside my apartment! I assumed this was not a good thing so called them back. They sent the installer back who made some «adjustments». No change. .. OK, maybe it lasted 3 minutes before smoke this time. So I called again and the same thing happened again.
I got a HVAC referral from Cole Hardware (
) and the guy who I talked to said he would be able to take a look in a few days, but I could probably have PG&E do an inspection before then. PG&E came over said that the unit was not properly installed and shut off my gas. DOH!
The HVAC guy came and told me the unit was not designed for underfloor use and so was not venting the exhaust properly causing the issue. He did mention that true underfloor units are pricier than what they tried to make work. I mentioned this to ERA McCauley Wilson & Butterfield and they vehemently denied trying to cut corners, but when I also told them that PG&E came by and that I had a written notice that they were shutting off my gas until repairs were properly made and approved by them ERA did end up hiring the guy I had come by. Things finally got fixed after a few months with no heat!
There was also the time roots went through the sewer drain under the driveway and sewage would back flow into my bathtub each night (I lived on the first floor). I also had the garage space and that was an adventure with the big floor drain spewing sewage all over the floor. That took awhile to get fixed too.
Avoid these guys if you want your rental problems handled efficiently.
