Mary Zell Spellman – State Farm Insurance Agent

I love working with Mary! She’s helped both my husband and me get life insurance. She comes to house, does a very quick initial intake, explains the policies clearly. She has obviously been doing this a long time and genuinely wants to help people get the coverage they need and can afford. I will definitely be recommending Mary to friends in the future.

I cannot say enough about the positive feedback I got through my State Farm representatives. As many of you know, I was recently involved in a 6 car accident resulting in my 2001 Honda Accord being totaled. Within a span of 2 weeks, I had a check in hand and ready to move on with purchasing my new Civic.
I would like to comment that each and every State Farm representative I have spoken with regarding this matter have been prompt, professional, courteous, understanding and extremely patient. Paperwork was handled in a timely fashion, process of claim — extremely efficient, questions (and I had many) answered knowledgeably. Rosalind Scott, Claim Representative, Petra responding for Rosalind, Jamila Shen, Courtney Khashabi — all have been most helpful in handling my claim and guiding me through the process with the driver-​at-​fault.
This is why I continue to have State Farm as my carrier on my third Honda. During my signing off of paperwork at their office, Mary Spellman popped in to introduce herself, another kind gesture, extended.

Mary Spellmen of State Farm is a real go getter, making sure everything is done right, thank God! I totally trust her and her staff, they make it all happen effortlessly. Very professional.

In my search for a life insurance policy, I was referred to Mary Spellman State Farm. I was very happy with the service of the front office and the thorough explanation and assistance Mary offered. She understood my budget and helped get me into a policy that suited all of my needs. As a new homeowner and with a new baby, I now feel secure that my family will be provided for in the future. Thanks to Mary and her staff for their excellent service. Even though we are in NY, everything went very smoothly as if we were in CA! I have recommended this State Farm agency to friends and family.

State Farm is the worst insurance company on the planet…
I think a few years ago they were probably the best but I guess things have changed.
Some crazy man rampaged a bunch of cars in the Mission and State Farm is trying to make us pay $ 1000 deductible for his criminal act.
When someone else is at fault and you don’t pay the deductible in a collision case… But for some reason they think it is fair to charge you in a comprehensive one.
He was obviously crazy and probably homeless and State Farm has done nothing to help us repair our car.
They sent us to a horrible auto body place that was a total scam and they lied to us about a lot of details.
I pleaded with their agents and even talked to a manager about how I spent almost $ 200 a month for care and coverage and they are refusing to do anything to help.
With a criminal act your insurance company should have your back. In this case they are acting worse than the crazy person who smashed our car up by allowing US to be responsible for it.
Mary has done nothing to make our situation any kind of decent. I really don’t know how their agents sleep at night.
Check your coverages people… We found out quickly that we actually saved money by switching to Geico and at least we won’t have to deal with this horror show again.
I still can’t believe we live in a world where you pay someone so much every month and when you are a victim of a crime your own insurance company tries to screw you over.

I used to have AAA, and Progressive. My insurance was ending so i figured I should check if I was going to get any better rates elsewhere.
I called the office and this nice lady picked up the phone. I told her what was going on and that I’m looking for another insurance if their rates could beat my current ones.
«I’ll be sure to do my best to take care of you Baylon!»
So she does. Its like when I call in, they are there the whole way. Any questions or concerns that i have? They handle it, If they don’t know the answer? They find out the answers.
Give em a try. You’ll be glad you did.

I recently got a policy with Mary Zell Spellman — State Farm. Jamila, one of the associates there is fantastic to work with! I had millions of questions to ask her. All kinds of «what if» questions and she was able to guide me through the entire process and was extremely patient with my needs and requests with all kinds of changes. She was never pushy and was sincere and genuine when she explained to me why life insurance is important to have. Jamila and Courtney were very cordial, professional, and knowledgeable in the services State Farm offered. I wanted to go with an insurance company that was well established and offered great services to their clients. Lemme tell you guys, you want to go with an insurance company with good financial ratings and has tons of money on reserve because you want them to be around to pay out your policy! I felt that State Farm takes care of their customers and offers quality insurance. I was pleased with my quote and my premium turned out to be less than what I was quoted. I even recommended my boyfriend to get a policy through Mary Zell Spellman State Farm as well, and he did! I tried to make him assign me as a beneficiary, but no luck. Hahahahaha!!!
I enjoyed doing business with Jamila and look forward to working with her again because I plan on switching all my other polices to State Farm.

like many people here; first was great, then everything change, these people are gonna tell you anything you want to hear to make you go to their office, you get there and is different deal, I decided to call this office because it was close to my work, anyway I explained everything over the phone letting them know that I already had a policy with State Farm, but that I wanted to change agents since Im not happy with the existing agent, but I still wanted to keep State Farm. They said i could open a policy with them and even get a discount based on my existing policy and that i should stop by their office and it would be «no problem». When I got there two people were at the front door the one i had spoken to over the phone and the other person whom i had not spoken to and who was told by the other woman to assist me.
This second woman had me repeat everything to her all over again, then she said that her manager (pointing to the woman I had already spoken to over the phone) said that before they can give me a quote i need it to call my agent and explain to them why I m looking for a different agent, They didn’t tell me that when I called them.. They made me waste my time going all the way to their office only for them to tell me that I need to talk to my existing agent to see if we can all work out our issues #@#$@ WTF WAS THAT. I need to call my agent and explain her why I dont want to have business with her and see if I can work my problems withe her??? sound like a married counseling to me/​/​/​/​/​so I need to spend ½ of my life talking with someone that I dont care and dont want to deal just to see if I can keep my business relationship with her jajajaja go see ur mama/​/​/​Well, guess what? Good-​bye State Farm I got a policy elsewhere and i am going to be cancelling my muti-​car polices!!! I am also going to tell my relatives and friends not to do business with them.

Mary and her team are so sweet, caring, and professional. I’ve been dealing with a motorcycle injury case (got rear-​ended) and Mary has been so so helpful. I’m not making this up — she actually cares what happens to those that she insures! She was very concerned about my injury and is doing everything she can to help. Whenever I get any confusing information from my health insurance or the other party’s insurance, she has been super helpful and replies quickly to all my confused emails. Definitely would recommend!!!

Mary and her staff are fantastic. Anytime I need anything they are quick to respond and make things easy for me without a second thought. I’ve always recommended her services to all my friends & family. It’s invaluable to have an insurance agent you can trust.

Mary and her team are absolutely terrific to deal with. I’ve two policies with her now and will be switching another policy to her next month. I emailed her recently to get her thoughts on what I was currently paying for my renters insurance. I thought it was high so wanted to get her thoughts. She agreed with my sentiments and within minutes (literally), she had a quote emailed over to me that was 30% cheaper for the same coverage!
Her customer service is second to none and she’s a consummate professional. Her knowledge of insurance instills a LOT of confidence in me! She is honest, diligent and ethical and her charming personality, makes the whole process enjoyable and straight forward. Her follow through is excellent and I’d gladly give her ten stars if I have the option.
I’d highly recommend using Mary. She’s a gem!

Mary is great! I have called and emailed her a number of times with insurance questions and she is always diligent, honest and helpful. I have renters insurance with her, and every time I have a question she gets back to me right away. I would recommend her to anyone looking for any type of insurance!

Perhaps my experience is an anomaly, based on the other reviews. I received an online quote for auto insurance for $ ⁷⁹³⁄₆ months, verified by a personal email. After speaking on the phone, that increased to roughly $ ⁸⁸⁰⁄₆ months. Paid my down payment, and thought everything was good to go. Received my official paperwork in the mail, and my premium increased to $ 1904/​6months for no apparent reason (with a «your rates have been adjusted and are higher than previously quoted, we apologize for the inconvenience.»). I have one point, no claims, no accidents and am classified as a good driver. Returned to my previous insurance company for a 12 month premium equivalent to State Farm’s 6 month premium. Ridiculous, unprofessional and definitely not recommended.

About a year ago, (¹⁄₂₀₀₉) I was asked to come into Mary Spellman’s office to learn more about life insurance. I was helped by her staff (not Mary specifically) which were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I signed up for a life insurance policy and things seemed to be great.
This year I began facing financial difficulties and began to cut down on all unnecessary expenses, one of them being life insurance. I felt life insurance is something I can get at any time, but now is not the time I can afford to spend on it. I spoke to her staff who stated I would need to speak or email Mary.
Today I emailed Mary stating I would like to cancel my insurance policy and to advise me on the next steps to receive a refund. Her response email said «Done.» Surprised by her discourteous and unprofessional manner I will never in a million years recommend her to the person I most dislike.
In a second email to her, I once again asked her to advise me on the next steps necessary. She simply replied my request was done. At this point I don’t know when I will get a refund or the amount.
Before emailing her today, I had every intention of using her services in the future since her office is in my old neighborhood that I love so much. She ruined any and all chances of my business and future referrals.
As a business woman, she gets negative points for not knowing how to deal with a client who no longer wishes to continue her service. I hope she learns from this experience.

Since my initial experience with Mary’s office, the service has only gotten better and better. I’m delighted to say I’m getting superb service now.

I have never stepped foot in their office and I feel like I don’t need to. Mary and her colleagues make it very easy over the phone and through email. I purchased a motorcycle policy and they beat out all my other quotes by far. I would recommend State Farm to anybody looking for Motorcycle insurance.

I went from a «voice on the phone» kind of agent at Firemans and never had to make a claim in 8 years when I finally did… they totally made it as cumbersome and difficult as possible… even trying to talk me out of not filing… Eventually, they flat out refused to pay because «they: had made an error in calculating my fees so I was «underpaying.» Long-​story short: Mary is awesome. Old school kind of helpful who feels honest and forthright. She gives you the sense that she really is trying to watch out for your best interests.

Mary is our life, auto, home, and health insurance agent and she has been nothing but amazing. We first bought our life insurance products from her and she explained everything to my wife and I so we could understand it all. I feel very confident that if anything happened to me that my wife would be taken care of and helped by this wonderful agent. We spend part of the year in San Francisco and when were not there we are comfortable knowing that our property is covered.
