Maria has given new life to my challenging skin. I’m in my mid-50’s and have easily spent thousands of dollars over my lifetime on dermatologists, products, facials & home remedies.
Happily, and to my amazement, Maria has managed to significantly improve my skin within an intensive 2-​week period through a series of facials consisting of microdermabrasion, cold laser therapy and other procedures. After each facial, I made more facial appointments than initially planned because of my skins dramatic improvement, both visibly and in texture. I requested Maria to be as aggressive as possible in recommending each of my upcoming facial treatments, based on what my skin would tolerate in respect to microdermabrasion, peels, etc.
I hoped Maria’s facials and her recommended products for my at-​home care regimen would make a difference. My expectations were exceeded with a noticeable difference, specifically up close as I’m my own worst critic. I’m so pleased that I cannot adequately express my sincere gratitude to Maria! Self-​image is such an important element in building confidence, particularly at work in day-​to-​day social interactions.
Maria has renewed my faith in professional facials, she came highly recommended by one of her clients (my aunt); I originally thought I’d just have one facial to relax while visiting SF, as I live out of state in Portland, OR. Now I’m hoping to find an esthetician locally who is hopefully as qualified as Maria, although in my search so far I’ve found that Dimitra’s skincare/​spa is more reasonably priced in respect to both high-​quality and skincare services offered. Although I’m not in SF frequently, I now have a greater motivating reason to visit more frequently. Thank you Maria :-)

Love love love this place. Dimitra is fabulous. I went here for electrolysis. She was recommended to me by a co-​worker. She was kind, gentle and explained everything. I will go back again and again! Hair has gotten to be my personal enemy!

As usual I always return to Dimitra’s, because all the other over priced trendy spas don’t know skin. At Dimitra’s you are going to get professionals whose focus is your skin. Their advise on products and services is conservative and smart. You will get your best bang for your buck and beautiful skin.

I’ve been a client here for over 10 years, and I love it. The people there take excellent care of you. The person I see regularly knows exactly what is going on with my skin and always leaves me feeling taken care of and in great shape. No frills, just EXCELLENT service which to me is well worth coming back!

Dimitra is THE BEST. She is the reason I have clear skin today.
I have been seeing Dimitra for four years, since I moved to SF. I’ve received regular facials (acne-​focused with extractions), a series of light treatments, and several Cosmedix purity peels.
In the past, I’ve paid big bucks to see board certified dermatologists, but all of them pale in comparison to Dimitra and her expertise around problematic skin. She is also just a lovely person to be around. She will not only help your skin, but she’ll teach you how to customize your at-​home care.
Dimitra has always been kind, knowledgeable, and straight-​forward with me. When she recommends something, she tells me why. I’ve learned more from her about skin issues (specifically, hormonal acne) than I have from all the dermatologists I’ve seen over the years combined.
As for the products they sell at the front, I really like the Cosmedix line they carry. I trust Dimitra’s product recommendations. But if you are wary, she’ll gladly give you samples so you can try things out before you buy. All that said, I have never felt pressured to buy anything, ever.
I highly recommend Dimitra to anyone who is looking for a knowledgable, professional, experienced aesthetician. She’s the very best.
Update: I’ve moved to the East Coast, and I miss Dimitra!

I was able to come in for a facial same day on a Sat. Loved the front desk service.
The facial was very well priced for what I received. REAL cleaning, plenty of time for extractions and several mask.
cons: very light hands I can barely feel any massaging when it was time to let the mask sit for a bit.
Front desk was very loud & welcome area is pretty outdated. No water was offered.

Victoria is the best and I have been a client for years now.
Those pesky breakouts are a thing of the past and my skin feels better than it has for quite some time
I have recommended and brought in family members who agree with me.
Will continue to be a fan of Victoria for her caring attitude and superb facials

I love Dimitra’s. I love the work they do on me there, I always come out feeling like a better me! I get all my waxing and facials done there. My skin started breaking out really badly when I first moved here but Dimitra took good care of me and by using the products she recommended, my skin has completely changed! I always used to get facials but this is the first time my skin has looked and felt SO good!
As for the waxing, I absolutely love the kind of wax they use. I’ve never seen it before but they don’t use the strips to remove it and it is very pain-​free (as much as waxing can be!).
Bottom line — I don’t ever want to stop going there.

I will always get my facials done here. Make sure to ask for Alicia. She takes pride in what she does and is always pleasant to interact with. She recommends whats best for me, and doesn’t try to push products. Dimitra’s uses the best products possible and prioritizes cleanliness. It’s too bad to read some reviews here that say otherwise because cleanliness has always been a priority of mine in choosing salons.

I use to love this place a few years ago. However, the employees have changed… for the worse.
1) Have the young woman answering the phone learn some manners. She was cutting me off and was really rude.
2) Your products are not worth the price.

This is by far the best salon in the entire city. It’s affordable, staff is courteous, and best of all is Dimitra herself who is a wonderful, skilled, aesthetician and a very caring and gracious person.
I recommend the ACNE CLEANSE FACIAL from Dimitra. She really saved me when I had horrible breakouts. I am not kidding when I say that she virtually removed the acne and with the products and peels she gave me I know have clear smooth skin that looks better than before I even started getting acne in the first place.

You know what? I’ve lived on the east coast for four years now and I STILL return to Dimitra’s every chance I get. A good esthetician is hard to find, and you can’t beat Karen.

My first experience at Dimitra’s was on a whim about 3 years ago. I had an eyebrow wax that I was in desperate need of. I walked in and the place is a little dated but looks very clean. Vicky was the esthetician that waxed my brows. She did an amazing job. Took her time to shape and make sure every hair was perfect. I have big sparse potato wedges for eyebrows and most places just do the arch portion but won’t do much else but Vicky did she made sure she got all the little hairs so my brows had a very polished clean look. I also have a scar on my right eyebrow right on the arch (OH LUCKY ME!) and so my eyebrows never look the same — but she worked at it until she got them as close as possible. SHE DID A PHENOMENAL job.
Since my last pregnancy my skin needed dire attention. I had gotten a hydrating facial in February at a different spa that was nice but didn’t give me the results I was looking for. I usually get microdermabrasion (which I love) but I just had two babies back to back and my skin is going haywire not to mention I picked up rosacea from my 3^rd baby. So I thought this may be too harsh so I opted to go back to Dimitra since I had a great experience with Vicky. I was hoping she was still there and was glad to hear she was. So I made my appointment and when I got there I explained everything to Vicky regarding my skin and how it’s lacking that «RADIANCE», it feels very dry and my new found friend Rosacea. I told her how I had just had two pregnancies back to back that hormones and lack of sleep just had done a number on my skin. Vicky had just had a baby too so she knew exactly what I was talking about so I felt like she would be able to help me. We talked about several different options I had with regards to what kind of facial I would benefit from. She took her time to explain everything to me and made suggestions as to what would be best for my skin. So I let her do her thing and again she did an amazing job. My skin looked like before I had my kids and knew what solid sleep was. I also had a milia on my eyelid which the girl at the prior spa that did the hydrating facial would not even touch (even though she said she would try). Vicky noticed it and said this was common during pregnancy and she could try to get rid of it for me. You would think it would be painful because the procedure would be like popping a pimple — but she did it so quick and so easy I was amazed. I didn’t even know she when she started or finished it was so fast and smooth. She also trimmed my eyebrows and gave me a mini neck and shoulder massage.
Hands down my experience here has been amazing. The only negative thing I have to say is that PARKING SUCKS — I ended up with a $ 50 parking ticket. But I don’t think that has any reflection of the spa or services.

I had body waxing here and it was passable, but not great. What I did not like:
–She used non-​water-​soluble wax so that even after several scrubs in the shower, there were still patches of wax sticking to me. When I inquired about it, she brushed it off and said «oh we don’t leave any wax on you.» Very untrue.
–The website talks about «appointment etiquette.» They gave me an appt on 15 after the hour, but told me to come in on the hour if I could. I rearranged my whole day, and was able to get there 10 minutes before the hour. Nobody even acknowledged me until 25 minutes after the hour, and during the appointment, she complained about being short on time. My understanding was that clients have to observe the etiquette, but that the staff don’t have to give the same respect to clients.
Having said this, it was a decent wax job but a little pricey for the nuisances mentioned above.

Been here about a dozen times now and continue to be impressed. Pleasant service right as you enter and the treatments are great. I always get facials, brow wax, and lash & eye brown tinting with Maria.
Painless and quick with great results. Ask for Maria — She’s a pro. I think she’s been there for over 15 years and comes highly recommended!

I always wonder who would patron a place like that? Boring, old-​school cosmetic salon. Although neat and clean, there is a total lack of appeal to this place. Location is nice, but I could hear trains going back and forth right in front. I always wanted to try Dimitra mostly because of an acquaintance recommendation.
My facial was rushed and superficial. The esthetician (I will not reveal her name so that she would not be fired) was dashing out of the room at every possible opportunity: «wait for the steam to open your pores», «I’ll come back after your mask would set». What?! for the price they charge you would be babysitted and massaged throughout the whole procedure. To make the things worse, she stole about 10 minutes of my time (and money), starting a bit later and rushing out more than 5 min earlier than.
My question: who is willing to pay luxury spa prices for this mediocre salon with no amenities whatsoever?

I signed up for six velashape sessions on four treatment areas on my tummy.
This was about three years ago (early 2007).
I don’t know if they still offer velashape sessions.
The treatment was expensive, I recall about $ 2300 for six sessions (visits).
The woman who provided the treatments did an excellent job.
She was beautiful, friendly and used the equipment effectively.
She was philpino and had a delightfully good attitude. She treated me like I was special.
(It takes a lot of strength and concentration for a session — it’s not trivial for the technicial.)
I lost an inch and a half around my waist — and was able to keep it off with exercise.
I had to buy new pants — and that probably cost me another $ 400.
That’s something I didn’t anticipate or budget for at first!
If I had $ 2300 to spare I’d do it again.
I met Ms. Dimitra and she impressed me — a motivated brianiac who really likes keeping customers happy.
She has a cute Russian accent too!
On the other hand — I didn’t have much interest in Dimitra’s bread and butter services — such as massage or facial treatments — so my happiness is directed at the velashape treatments only.

Dimitra’s and I are cool. Best friends? No, but we’re aiiight.
I came here when my regular place was booked. I think it was around Valentine’s Day, so everyone was getting their waxes at the same time… you know how it goes. They do a really good job on Brazilians. No complaints whatsoever about their quality of service, and the going rate is about average.
The only thing I think they’re missing is the comfortable, serene atmosphere that a lot of day spas have. Though I really wouldn’t consider getting a brazilian an «escape», it’s still nice to walk into an environment in which you can’t help but feel a little more relaxed. Dimitra’s is more of a straight-​forward, no B.S. kind of place. However, when it comes to hair being ripped out of that part of my body I need the extra bit of comfort!

Laying on the worn floral sheets on the patients chair, I instantly thought of an overseas discount surgery room.
$ 50 + no tip (the Doc doesn’t accept gratuity), great Spa Week price!
Facilities and cleanliness are a HUGE factor for me.
The sheets and towels are not changed after each client.
Doc was the granola type: ponytail & earring. The staff were friendly, but disorganized.
The regular price is $ 150 per session for underarm hair removal, which is the same if not more than my usual day spa.
The numbing cream is complimentary here, and they send you home with pots of post-​treatment soothing cream.
No water, no luxuries, and for the same price as the luxe spa.
Not sure what the results will be, but I most likely will not be returning.
