I think Joel H’s review is a bit unfair and yet he himself admits that the treatment helped him. I’ve been seeing Mark for years and I have never been lectured. Keep in mind he see’s people all day with common issues and if you do something that’s bad for your body, he’s going to suggest that you consider stopping it. That’s his job — to assist you in healing. If your ankle is fucked up from skateboarding I would expect any responsible health professional to suggest you stop skateboarding, at least for a while. He’s quite open about the fact that Western medicine is lacking in it’s ability to address the whole person. I appreciate his candor and I also agree with that point of view.
He’s treated me for many things all with considerable success. He is gentle, wise and always helpful. There are probably many talented acupuncturists in SF. I’ve seen a few and I’ve had the best results with Mark. I saw him over a year ago for an issue I’d been dealing with for 10 years. I’d seen my doctor and two specialists and as far as they were concerned, there was nothing wrong with me. Since Mark treated me, I’ve been pain free ever since. I don’t know how he does it, but it works for me. I can’t recommend him enough.

I have been tried many acupuncturists in the past. They were Chinese or Japanese. Obviously he is neither of them.
But he is the best one.
I cannot explain my problem here, but his treatment helped a lot to reduce my symptom.
