Mark Kuroda was one of the easiest parts of planning our wedding party this past year! He has great energy, is fun to be around, really made us feel comfortable and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
There seems to be a never ending list of wedding photographers and you can tell from going through their portfolios that Mark’s work stands out. I take a lot of photos and have seen a lot of other people’s work and I would put Mark’s stuff in the «inspiring» bucket. His compositions are simple and natural. And his images are not overly processed. This was exactly what we were looking for and like I said — couldn’t be happier with photos from our big day.

We came across Mark’s work by a couple of close friends who spoke highly of his work. we checked out his on-​line portfolio after a few other photographers’ site & his shots just instantly «popped» at us. We were drawn into his pictures by the natural lights that he used as well as the robust, vibrant & insane angles as seen in his work.

When we first met Mark, he was very punctual, professional, friendly and we instantly connected. His relaxed personality later led my fiancé & me, in huge ways as we stood nervously in front of the lens on our shooting day. His sweet humor loosened us up quickly & we both became very comfortable in front of the lens in a snap.

Throughout our engagement shooting, Mark went above & beyond to capture what we really wanted. He also brought in wonderful suggestions in the most minute spaces. He used a LOT of natural lighting to make our shots REALLY stand out while allowing us to bring out our personalities. His skills in timing the sun’s movement, shadows & moonlight was amazing! He even had to use his athletic abilities to get certain shots that turned out to be some of our favorites!

It was really spectacular when we received our engagement pictures on-​line only after 2 days of the shooting!!! We are still FLOORED by the amazing shots which brings the moments of enjoyment back each time we look at the pictures. They are lively, fun, intimate & very natural!

It was an amazing experience. Mark is very fun to work with. His pictures are always interesting, and he has full of great ideas. He is an incredibly nice guy with full of skills. You can’t really find anyone better than Mark if you are looking for a wedding photographer. He is very professional, very confident, and the end results are just simply phenomenal. I hate my pictures being taken, but Mark made it easy. He is funny throughout the day, and overall, we had such an amazing experience with him. I highly recommend Mark to all my close friends, and family.

Mark is divine. My husband and I hired him for our wedding. The pictures were phenomenal. He was invisible at the ceremony and the throughout the evening but he and his assistant somehow got every classic shot and was available for guests to request specific shots. The portraits went incredibly fast (even my husband says so and he was not looking forward to that part). Our wedding location was remote to say the least and he arrived significantly early. Plus he sent me my pictures in less than 4 weeks and gave me the rights so no $ 7/​image orders.

Mark is an amazing photographer, and will be one of the best decisions when it comes to your wedding. Mark did both our engagement photos and our wedding day photos and we could not be happier with the results. All of our family and friends have told us how great our slideshow looks and have even asked for his contact info after seeing our pictures.
There are many things that stand out with Mark’s photos. One is his ability to really capture the natural emotion in his photos while at the same time making them look incredible and professional. He took many candid shots throughout the day that didn’t require any posing or staging that really help us to remember all the details from our day. They are really «in the moment» so you don’t feel that people are posing just to be in the photo. He also has an incredible eye and can find shots in places and settings that we would never have imagined. You can see examples of these on his online blog.
The other great thing about Mark is his personality. He is able to interact with kids, grandparents, aunts and uncles who may not speak good English, and is able to get them to smile and enjoy themselves throughout the night. We took a large group photo after our ceremony and he was able to get everyone to cheer, even people I didn’t think would want to participate. He danced with us on the dance floor and even took photos during that time too. We had him ride with us as we moved from place to place and he told us stories to take the edge off and lighten the day. Finally, I don’t think I saw him sit down once throughout the whole day which shows his dedication to making sure you get good photos.
Finally, Mark has incredible amount of experience. He is doing so many weddings, even some international, that you can feel confident you will have amazing photos to remember your day by. Even if you feel lost as to how you should pose, he will instantly have an idea that will surprise you. And best of all, Mark is very responsive by email, which is a plus during such a stressful planning time!

We hired Mark after seeing his photography from a family friend’s wedding. His work makes weddings look FUN! Our wedding was in Oct. 2008. Mark is young but totally professional, and working with him was so enjoyable. His pictures were incredible, and we still have family and friends comment on how perfectly he captured the essence of the night. My favorite part about Mark is that he included all digital negatives in his package, so we could do whatever we wanted with the photos after the wedding, without having to pay a ridiculous fee every time we wanted to print a photo. There are plenty of photo examples on his website, of both engagement and wedding events, so if you are looking for a photographer, Mark is your guy (if he’s available!).

We hired Mark to be our photographer for our wedding. We were very happy we did and have no regrets.
We went with Mark because we loved his portfolio. When we met with him the decision was easy because was very easy going and his prices were competitive with other photographers with the same quality of work.
We felt that going with a photographer we felt comfortable with was one of the most important aspects to look for in a photographer. If you are not comfortable with your photographer the chances are you will be either camera shy on the day of your shoot or you will not act natural behind the camera.
After our wedding Mark processed and posted our pictures in a very timely manner. Our pictures came out great! We would definitely recommend Mark to our friends and family.

I’m surprised Mark doesn’t have more reviews on Unilocal.I just got married a couple of weeks ago in the south bay, and Mark was our wedding photographer. We’re both Indian– but we didn’t want traditional posed photography. I think our choice of Mark made some people, my in-​laws in particular, a little nervous, but I wasn’t worried at all.
He’s exactly what I wanted in a photographer: during our events, it felt like he wasn’t there at times, but looking at our slideshows now, it looks like he was in multiple places at once. Mark captures the day as a documentary photographer would, and the end result is ridiculously good. I can’t stop watching our slideshow. Our friends and family can’t stop complimenting us on our photos.
One of the big reasons we chose Mark is also because he brings a lot of creativity to posed shots– particularly with the wedding party. We had a very large (21 person!) wedding party, and he take some really cool, fun photos with all of us at a public park nearby the temple where we got married. He also did a bunch of more traditional posed shots with our families, which definitely made our parents happy.
I can’t same enough nice things about Mark– but I think what impressed me the most was how well he understood us as a couple and what we wanted to get out of our wedding day and engagement shoot, even though we had only met him a couple of times before the wedding. After working with him, I realize it takes more than just a good eye and technical skill to be an amazing photographer– it also take empathy and passion– which Mark has tons of.

The best way to describe Mark’s work is that he captures life. He was able to make the ordinary extraordinary. Our engagement and wedding pictures were phenomenal. He is extremely gifted at seizing the details of relationships. For my husband and me, he captured the quirkiness of our relationship.
Mark is also versatile. He gave us multiple perspectives of the same moment. There were options in angles and lighting. He also gave us artistic perspectives. He has a keen eye; he created beauty in the ordinary. He made my flaws loveable.
Last but not least, Mark is personable. He can make anyone comfortable in front of the camera; even, shy grandparents who don’t speak English.
He is worth every penny!

In full disclosure, Mark is a friend of a friend but I had never met him in person until he took our photos. I had only seen the work on his site and knew that we would love the results (seriously — go see for yourself). He is a wonderful photographer to work with — passionate about his work, friendly, and puts you right at ease. He has a great eye for capturing the feel and emotions of the moment as well as using fun perspectives and backgrounds to put together interesting and compelling photographs.
It was a pleasure working with Mark… he showed us the pictures as the day went on so we could see that while we may have felt a little self conscious posing, it created something really neat when viewed through the lens. He was conscientious about making sure that any photo requests we had were included, and his experience gave us the opportunity to try new locations and ideas that we wouldn’t have thought of ourselves.
While his work speaks for itself, I couldn’t help but add my kudos. Hire him — you’ll be glad you did!

I met Mark through a random Internet search for someone from high school and I ended up on his webpage. As a wedding designer and coordinator, I am always looking for new vendors to connect with and recommend to my clients. I was fortunate enough to be at two weddings this year where Mark what photographing. No only did the pictures turn out spectacular, but he is such a calm, constant, and courteous member of the event team.
I cannot recommend Mark highly enough, his work is amazing, he makes the least photogenic of us look spectacular, he makes people feel joy and beauty on their wedding day. He is responsible, timely and intelligent. He manages to be unobtrusive and yet catch all the unique moments on camera that many photographers miss and everyone wants to have as keepsakes for years to come.

There are two reasons why Mark is an amazing photographer:
The first is that his pictures are beautiful and interesting and sharp. In our engagement photos we look like art imitating life imitating art. Like ourselves, only much much more beautiful and awesome.
The second is that he is a terrifically nice guy. Comfortable and confident, easy to be with while still exerting enough artistic control to get excellent shots.
We met Mark randomly in the park many months before our wedding and on a whim asked him for his card. When we got home and looked at his website, we knew that we had to find a way to hire Mark. Unfortunately, he was booked for our wedding, but he shot a full day engagement shoot with us and then set us up with his friend who was also gifted and awesome for our ceremony. I have been of the opinion that many wedding photographers charge large sums for mediocre pictures, so I was shocked at my feeling that I would have payed *any* price for Mark’s pictures. Our pictures are really that good.
I’ve spent months peeking around at other photographer’s portfolios and I’ve not seen one that comes close to what Mark does. Hire him.
