Kitchen drain leaking into laundry sink on floor below. Yuck. Called Malcolm Plumbing who sent over Bobby, plumber extraordinaire. Bobby took care to keep his work area clean, analyzed the problem, told me what steps he’d be taking and then quickly and efficiently fixed the leak. Yay, no more messy drain water going where it should not. Bobby also snaked out the rest of the pipe to ensure that all would drain perfectly. All-​in-​all, a great job!

I am placing this review for my mother, who is not computer literate. These are her words.
Matt, the owner, capped off the radiant heating in my living area by mistake. I was cold all winter. Bobby, one of their technicians, replaced the toilet without using a wax ring. (I found that out when I had to hire another company to come fix the issue). Toilet water flowed through the ceiling into the kitchen of the apartment below. I noted all this crisis on the $ 800 bill I sent back, unpaid.
They responded to my plumbing crisis by sending the bill to a collection agency, rather then first contacting me in order to rectify the problems.
Avoid.

I’ve worked with these guys for about three years caring for the maintenance and repair of our early 1900s Pacific Heights condo building which has been no small feat. From leaks to new boilers to removal of ancient, decaying flu stacks coming out of our boiler room, Matt and Kevin have managed it all.
I’ve found their prices competitive, their advice sound and their work effective. All valuable attributes when you’ve got no shortage of old building problems and 10 equally opinionated home owners to contend with.
My girl Ruth at the reception desk is also a gem and always makes sure I get a call back and my issues addressed.

The best plumbing experience ever. I live in an 1865 building with a very old water baseboard heating system and these guys knew all about it. Prompt and reasonable.

The worst! They are absolutely horrible, don’t use them. Unbelievably incompetent. They can’t even show up on time for an agreed-​upon appointment. «We’ll be there right at 8:30am.» I finally gave up on them at 11:30am. At 11:55am they call saying «we can be there in 15 – 20 minutes.»
Extremely frustrating. Places like this deserve to go out of business.

Honest company. Get’s the job done.

I have worked with these guys for about two years. I initially called about my wall heater and they came out the next day and got me up and running. I had issues with the heater not working correctly and they came back and performed more maintenance. After all was said and done, they replaced most of the heater and that was going to be it.
However, for the last year and a half I have struggled with the heater not staying lit and I have called them about it and they have come back and added a thermostat so that I can control it with out having to handle it manually. The heater is still an old heater and has some issues, but their last couple of visits have been free of charge and they have taken their time to discuss options and really work through what could be the issue.
I would say that I have been somewhat of a problem client for them and throughout the process, I would say that I have run the gamet from frustrated to happy. I understand the one negative review that was posted because they are very busy and often have large jobs and sometimes don’t call back the same day. But if you are willing to work with them, they are willing to work with you and they won’t nickel and dime you to death. In the end, they fact that they seem to really care and take their time to work with me, wins them 5 stars in my book.

Matt and Mike arrived and sorted out the blocked sink quickly. They had all the tools with them so no messing around waiting for them to fetch things and charging more.
We would definitely use again.

Malcolm Plumbing is the best in town. I’m the third generation San Franciscan using them and I’ve never had a problem they couldn’t fix immediately!

I don’t know if these are good plumbers or not. I called to have an estimate and the guy said someone would call me back in a day or so. Nobody called back. A few days later I called again and he said sorry, someone will call you, and nobody called back. Not a great way to run a business.
