M8

I wrote a review on M8 several months ago but just noticed it has disappeared. Not sure why, but I feel the need to tell everyone to avoid M8 at all costs. They did the kitchen cabinets in my new construction townhome (the developer arranged it) and it was a total disaster.
M8 is a husband/​wife team of Joan and Steve. Steve is a nice guy, and Joan is a good salesperson, but both are completely incompetent when it comes to execution. They said it would take 3 weeks to get our cabinets, but it ended up taking 3 months. Once they closed the sale, they had no interest in seeing it through… I had to chase them down, leave many messages a week before maybe I would get a callback. They would never know the status of my cabinets and didn’t seem to care. They’d give me wrong info all the time — like «oh, the manufacturer just called and said your facings are ready and we’re picking them up tomorrow.» Then after a week of never hearing from them, they finally call back and act like they have no recollection of that conversation!
They also made several mistakes in what they ordered. In this case, they did at least admit they were their errors, but those errors cost me a lot of time and money, and M8 couldn’t really do anything to fix it.
On top of all this, the cabinets don’t look good. I paid about $ 8k extra for this wenge finish that they said was really high quality and would make the kitchen look fantastic. It actually looks more like Ikea. Brand new cabinet facings had dings and bits of wood grain that had no stain, rough edges, and all kinds of other small things that just made them look cheap.
M8 says they are this wonderful eco-​friendly company and do a good job convincing you this is a great idea. It is a great idea on paper, but the actual product just doesn’t live up. Save yourself a lot of headaches and avoid M8 at all costs.

Similar experiences with delays, intermittent communication and a host of problems with the company’s suppliers. M8’s furniture system has promise from a green perspective but the reality of this kitchen cabinetry company is that there are numerous issues with quality assurance, manufacturing time frame and overall customer service that still have a ways to go. The result on my end has been a burned bridge and a recommendation for others to shy away from them.
