LiFang Liang Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine

This business abruptly closed in November 2012. The message says that Dr. Liang wasn’t feeling well — I’m surprised the biz didn’t stay open as she had a large number of assistants working for her. I’m really bummed because I spent a small fortune there (and yep — will the help of accupuncture and IVF I’m due in June) but I need a printout of all my expenses for taxes and it seems there is no one around to help me — argh! If anyone has any contact with any of the assistants or anyone who might be able to help, I’d be eternally grateful!

I’ve been to 5 acupuncturists and this office has definitely been the most complete and effective experience to date. I am not seeing Dr. Liang to become pregnant, though I understand it is what she specializes in. She has plenty of actual success stories and testimonies posted in office. My first visit was with Dr. Liang, and subsequent visits I’ve been needled by Eunhye. Eunhye is very patient and sweet and a wonderful healer. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is comforting. I am always looking forward to my next appointment. Each time I leave I feel relaxed and better. The office staff regularly check your meridians and tongue, asks pertinent questions, and combines treatment with home herbs. My negatives (which don’t reflect the staff or service) is that if you drive you must pay for parking in a nearby garage, and that I currently don’t earn enough to be a more «regular» patient long-​term. *sigh*

A couple of things. First, I’m pregnant. It worked. I credit Dr. Liang entirely. We’d been trying for two years and I’m old for this sort of thing. After treating me for awhile, she asked that my husband come in for acupuncture too. She said «this should take about 3 months.» After almost exactly 3 months, I was officially with child. When I went to my first ultrasound, in addition to viewing the wiggling embryo, my ob noticed that the fluid/​cyst that had been blocking my right ovary and fallopian tubes was totally gone.
Secondarily, although I was helped by her AND her assistants I strongly preferred her acupuncture method. Her assistants (some of them) think when it’s painful it works better. Well, I can’t deny it worked, but I didn’t like it, and if I were going to do it again, I’d only go to her despite her higher fee.

I’ve been a patient for five years, and cannot say enough good things about Dr. Liang. The physician at Pacific Fertility Center recommended her specifically to us, and we were very happy with Dr. Liang and her practice right from the beginning. (No, no child for us, but I was always a long shot due to very severe endo and my age; I’m the exception.)
She’s very thorough, and is extremely deft with the needles (which are tiny). Her staff is great, but be sure to reiterate concerns that are important to you directly with her, because she doesn’t always discern them from the chart. Her other licensed accupuncturists are excellent, but she’s the one with the infertility expertise, and worth the additional expense. I also really like her needling technique.
She has huge success with hundreds of patients, including a very close friend who was having some trouble after a miscarriage. Her Western OB suggesting resuming the pill for a few months. I suggested she see Dr. Liang first. Within four sessions (one month), my friend was pregnant and her new daughter is two months old. I’d also suggest going to Dr. Liang first before visiting a fertility clinic — it’s worth a try and will improve your overall health. The fertility clinic is always an option, and accupuncture studies have indicated that it boosts IVF transfers.
Dr. Liang’s walls of babies illustrate her success, and she can also treat a wide range of other gynecological issues. My overall health has improved, my stress levels are much lower, and she pretty much cured my heavy, painful periods. I have no hesitation recommending her for infertility or general health issues. She’s the best!

We went to Dr Liang for two rounds of in vitro. The first round I was clearly told by my first doctor at UCSF that I had a low follicular count and that nothing was going to change that. If I had been any lower my UCSF doc would have recommended I use an egg donor as the chances of my coming up with sufficient eggs was so small. Enter Dr Liang. My follicle count more than doubled with acupuncture, what my doctor had insisted was impossible. On my second round, I produced 16 eggs. Dr Liang is professional, whip-​fast with needles, and motherly in a way that I loved. I once asked her to give me the be-​a-​better-​wife-​and-​be-​patient-​with-​my-​husband needles, to which she responded «Peace in home very important. Must have peace in home» and then told me about her ways of dealing with her husband. Wise, funny, priceless interaction.
