It’s a very quirky place, but pretty much exactly what you want for a rocking rehearsal studio. A bit grungy, but a bunch of different room options and all the equipment you may need (some included, some for rent), and a reasonably clean bathroom too! Waters can be purchased for a buck at the front. There is decent street parking in the vicinity, but watch out — some of it is 1 hr parking so you may get a ticket if you’re not careful. The guys (and gal) that handle the front desk are entertaining, seems like they’ve been around the SF rock and roll scene for many, many years. Rooms rent for something like $ 60 – 70 for 3 hrs depending on the size, seems like a decent deal.

SF needs more places like this. I’ve been using this as my go to spot for the past 7 years. They have awesome backline deals and are always helpful/​friendly! Rock on!

Came here once to accompany a friend to practice and this place is IMPRESSIVE. Finding the exact location is a bit sketch but the studio is SICK!!! For the cost of what you are paying for the practice you can not beat this deal. The practice rooms are fulled loaded with speakers and amps and the sound that you get is solid and crisp. This is the first place that I have been to in which there was no feedback at all. THAT IS IMPRESSIVE. Not to mention you get up to 3 hours of practice time. That is a deal that you cannot beat anywhere. If you live in the area or can make it down here this is definitely the place to come to have any kind of band practice.

Lennon is the best. It’s got that great old school rock ‘n’ roll, old San Francisco aura and almost feels like a historic venue in itself.
We’ve practiced here on a weekly basis for the last six months or so and have been in 4 or 5 different rooms and have always felt good about the gear. The rooms range in size and acoustics but each one has a decent drum set, PA, and a good group of amps (2 guitar, 1 bass). Mics, cords, and any type of stand you want are also included with the room if you ask.

Well… Lennon studios sure knows how to make you look unprofessional in front of your band. I am a cabaret/​musical theater singer so I don’t know about renting band spaces, but I have rented many rehearsal spaces in my lifetime On both east and west coasts and this was by far, ridiculous.
I had called from New York Where I live, weeks in advance. I am from San Francisco originally and I was looking forward to using Lennon rehearsal studios, because the one time I had worked there before it had been a cool place.
I spent a good 15 minutes or so on the phone scheduling my various rehearsals because I was appearing at Feinstein’s locally, downtown. When we arrived at the space, I was not anywhere in the book. I had to repeat myself several times to get a room, and they spent the whole time telling me that I had called and canceled. I had not called to cancel. The only time I had called them back was to move one rehearsal earlier by one hour, and it was for a future date.
I did not like how immediately they put everything on me instead of trying to solve our problem. The next few hours were spent with them backpedaling. Finally at the end, the guy admitted that he remembered my phone call, remembered what I had said, remembered that I myself had asked him to explain some of the band terminology because I didn’t know it myself. Finally, he acknowledged that he had remembered that there had been a rehearsal, and admitted that he or someone else just did not write it down.
Because they did not own up to it at first and tried to put it all on me, I really looked unprepared in front of my band. I really looked like I had not called, and I really looked like I hadn’t planned anything ahead of time.
I felt even more crazy when I had to ask them for the various microphones, and keyboards, and for a backline room, because, we had discussed all of it when I had called originally. Because I don’t know band equipment jargon, I had taken meticulous notes and had written down all of the details which was the proof that I had indeed in fact called someone to make these appointments.
If someone makes a mistake that’s actually okay with me, it’s what you’re going to do to fix it. I didn’t appreciate how disorganized they were and how nonchalant they were about my frustration. It is very important to me that I look prepared in front of my band and they did not make things easy for me. Ownership, accountability, responsibility, are way more impressive to me. But if you are going to make me look like I am crazy in front of my band, and act like I never called and then finally two hours later say that I did actually call and now you remember the whole conversation… It’s just bad business. I really wanted to like these guys and give them my business, however if I am booked in San Francisco again I will be looking elsewhere.

I’ve been here quite a few times and I have to say that I like it a lot. Sure it’s not fancy or sleek, but that’s how rock&roll is. To summarize:
Pros:
* They have all sorts of equipment available to rent
* Many rooms to choose from
* Family run
* Cool ambience
* «Mistery drinks» in the soda machine
* Close late
Cons:
* Location is a little bit shady, specially if you come at nights
* Some of the gear is a bit unmaintained, but again, that’s rock and roll so it’s up to you to have it as a con.

Best rehearsal space in the city. Over 30 years in the business. Friendly staff, great studio shop to pick up your odds and ends. The space holds iconic history in rockinroll and there’s a nice café around the corner.

For the best in customer service, equipment, great pricing and a knowledgeable staff, Lennon Studios is that place. My bands and fellow mates find that we trust no one else in safety and booking time as needed.
One cool thing is the way the staff is super legit and family oriented. It’s the place to rock out practice whenever and however we must. Another thing we dig is that Lennon Studios is the hub for charities, putting on local shows and really supporting the local music scene.

Lennon Studios is our go-​to spot to rehearse, as they have PA’s, drum kits and amps available. They are centrally located, the staff is friendly, and they have strings and pics in their store for those of us who brutalize our instruments.

To start with, I am shocked and saddened that the fellow known as Mac had such a bad experience at Lennon Studios. It sounds to me like this individual has some severe personal problems to work through and I sincerely wish him well. I must say that the staff at Lennon Studios are SO FRIENDLY AND AWESOME!!! I have been renting a lock-​out here for a few years, been coming here for more than 10 years and this is simply one of my favorite places in San Francisco. I cannot imagine why Mac would be compelled to drag these people’s name through the mud… The music culture that surrounds the spot; nay, the music culture and scene that Lennon supports and cares for must be one of the most vibrant and diverse in the city. Can’t count the many times that Lennon staff has helped me out or even just been really cool to talk to. My verdict is that Mac’s hurtful words are more indicative of his attitude than anything that goes on at Lennon studios. What a shame. If you’re still reading and interested, go check out Lennon Studios and talk to them for a few minutes. See what you find out. See an absolutely fantastic group of people that want to see you have good times playing music, nothing else.

Lennon is cool if you need an hourly space to jam. Time slots are 3 hours. They have equipment for rent if you need or you can bring your own, and they stock strings, picks, drum sticks, etc behind the counter in case you break or forget something. The parking lot is a little small but Smokey is used to directing rock star traffic and will get you in and out in a flash. If you’re lucky Jimmy will be working the counter and you can hang out with a legendary guitarist, if you ask nicely he might help you fix your gear. There’s a lot of punk and metal bands practicing here, so you may run into a few odd characters if you’re used to hanging out in wine bars but everyone is friendly and no one is going to rip you off. If you practice regularly they have lockers for rent and a lock out across the street. Go jam!

«I want to live a rock n roll lifestyle» — Cake
Last fall, Rocket Dog Rescue did a fundraising event at Lennon Studios, and I was on the planning committee. It was a full day of bands, and auction, a bake sale, and adoptable dogs (oh, and some pigs!)
What an amazing experience. Carole and Jimmy welcomed us all with open arms, held multiple meetings, found a way to make all of our requests a reality, put together an incredible lineup of music, and made the day smooth and enjoyable for everyone. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, she was still making sure that the bands who had rented rehearsal space had what they needed. Everyone at Lennon does this with the calmness and confidence of professionals who have been doing this a long time, not sweating over the details, but finding a way to make it work. It was a complete drama-​free zone.
The space is really big and seeping in history. It was a pleasure to feel the ghosts of rehearsals past as we went from room to room.
A true class act.

I will say the people who work there are cool and definitely helpful but our last rehearsal there was in a room with no backline! For real?! Our band is on tour, so we don’t have a lot of flexibility with timing and location so we had to lug all of out gear out of the trailer, drum set/​bass amps etc for our rehearsal. What a hassle! Really you can’t invest a few hundred dollars and get some beat up drum kit and a few amps?
The room was dingy (even for rehearsal space standards) and the PA sucked.
I still give em 3 stars tho because the staff is cool and tries to be as accommodating as possible and also it’s relatively cheap.

Helpful, friendly staff. Good rates. I recommend this spot if you’re in the city and need to jam; the location is easily accessible by bus, and there is some parking at their location.
And check out the vending machine if you stop by; i won’t spoil the surprise for you.

Good spaces to rehearse in for a really good price. They can rent you just about any equipment you’ll need and have a fully stocked store with strings, drum heads and everything else up front. You can get pizza delivered to your room and the space is really easy to get to from the freeway. The people that work there have long careers in the industry and you can get some awesome stories out of them if you get to know them. The only problem is parking, they have a lot that only fits about 5 vehicles comfortably and 7 if you really squeeze.

Lennon studios has been a valuable resource for me many times over the years, and I can highly recommend them. I used to rent out their concert room every three months, and I’d also rent a bass amp and a set of drums. Then I’d invite friends in for an afternoon of jamming. In the two years I was doing this, everything went smoothly, and the staff would fix any problems that came up with the PA or the equipment. We were even able to find parking for everyone for the most part, although that’s not as easy to do at night.
The music store is great, too. It’s the only resource you’ve got if you’re in the middle of a Saturday night gig and the mic clip snaps.

Cool rooms (including a «gig room» with a stage complete w/​sofas and all!)… Not cheap but worth it I’d say. Great for rock bands.
Doesn’t look like much from the outside but definitely a sweet place.
Snacks available for purchase too.
