We normally go tO Them Ki in the Tenderloin but I saw all the great reviews and figured we would give Sunrise a try. Not impressed. The Bahn me was half as good as Saigon Sandwich and cost a lot more($ 6). I got Garlic noodle &BBQ Chicken. It was eh. 80% noodle, 10% chicken &10% Veggies. And again a higher price than you find in Little Saigon. Chicken Phở was sparse on the chicken for $ 9.20 inc tax. Well we gave it a try.

This is the yummiest little gem hidden in the middle of a very busy area. I came here spontaneously with my boyfriend for some phở and got a plain phở noodle, shrimp roll, and a bbq chicken sandwich and I was blown away. The servers were extremely friendly and quick and served us delicious food. The food was absolutely perfectly cooked and I was very impressed. Definitely will be returning if I am around the area and 1000% recommend this place! Help out small local restaurants and don’t eat fast food!

Total dive place which I normally like. We ordered at 1pm when it wasn’t too crowded, but had to wait 27 minutes to get ours after asking twice(although people who came after us got their food faster in 10 minutes). Food was fine. Prices were the same as places that are cleaner and better food. Service was bad. Not going back.

My first time here as I was looking for a place to grab lunch. I wanted something soup-y and remembered walking past this place once. It’s your standard Vietnamese restaurant with a mix of brunch/diner café. They have other things on their menu such as salads. You order at the counter and then you can grab your number and sit down at a table. Water is self-serve as well. I was a little confused when I first walked in since I saw a bunch of tables but no one really came to seat me. I ordered #15(vermicelli with pork and imperial roll) and it’s $ 8 min for credit card(Visa/Mastercard). The food came quickly. I liked the vermicelli noodles and the pork and egg rolls were fine too. There were about 5 – 6 pieces of pork and the two rolls were cut up to a total of six bite-sized pieces. Foodwise, I would give it a 3 stars. I would have to try their other dishes to see how their phở holds up. But + extra star just because the man at the counter was friendly and had a smile on his face and made me feel welcome. A pleasant eating environment and the place is quite spacious. I think there are extra tables in the back once you go up the steps.

This place has really good phở soup and that is usually what I look for first in a phở restaurant. Price is pretty average and it is interesting that they also serve things like burgers and sandwiches. The only thing that bothered me was how their noodles were way too soft and I couldn’t feel what I was chewing on.

This place(for me) on saturday afternoon is chill and easy going. I was looking for decently priced food since SF can be SO expensive. I ordered vermicelli with chicken and egg rolls. I normally don’t admire eggrolls too much but these eggrolls are unique and delicious! Food was quick and the people there are friendly. for a $ 8 – 9 meal, i’m generally pleased. It has many options and is a great post-Costco meal

The owner is very nice and makes you feel welcome. The place isn’t fancy but they have good food. I am a fan of their Vietnamese sandwiches and pork chops with rice.

If you’re looking for celebrities here — good luck. If you’re looking for above average food — even more good luck.

It’s not on the menu, but they will make a mist deliciously amazing vegetarian noodle soup for you by request. So happy.

You’ll always find a seat, large extra room in the back. The banh mi is so-so but good enough to fill that craving. Solid noodle and rice dishes, just your average hole in the wall that delivers. Steady and not special.

Came here expecting food that is good and cheap. The one of the menus on the side of the building has all the prices covered up and the other that isn’t has all the prices around $ 7. After going inside and looking at their sit down menu everything is $ 8.50 and up, even their sandwiches. Their service is super slow. I do not know how people are able to eat here during lunch.

Food is good and cheap, have eaten 150 – 200 of their bbq chicken sandwich over the years. My only issue is that they tend to get swamped during lunch and they have a very small staff, so the wait time can be really terrible. Expect to wait 30 – 45 minutes for a sandwich if you get there around noon. The service is otherwise fine and the food well worth the money. Food 4 stars Service 2 stars They still deserve 4 stars despite the wait.

I’m a first time regular, meaning I hold this place to a high esteem that I will come back — real phở, family restaurant, close proximity to where I work, live and play. Restaurant is neat, even the bathroom which is a good indication. The sauces and napkins were full. Very generous with meat for phở combo. I enjoyed every bite.

While the food may not always look visually appealing, and the menu has some of the expected typos, this place is truly a great family-run restaurant in SoMa. It focuses on Vietnamese dishes, with a sprinkling of southern Chinese fare, and of course, breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Really not bad if you want some choices for a quick meal. I’ve not had any of their phở, because I’m sofa king over the phở phase, but this place offers decent vermicelli dishes with pretty good cha gio. I pretty much eat vermicelli every week, so this place is just another happy notch on my vermicelli hunt(just make sure to leave out the bean sprouts!). Their rice dishes are pretty relish too, but where I think this place really exceeds expectations is the service. The older man that always takes your order behind the counter is so friendly and polite. He reminds me of my parents’ generation and their struggles for a better life trough education and hard work. Seriously, I want to give him a hug. The other workers are also constantly working. The last time I came around two pm and there were only two or three other parties, so when they could have had some down time I saw them clean their grill, disinfect their countertops, replenish condiments and utensils, etc. Would totally come back here for the food and the service. It’s a nice little inconspicuous gem.

I stumbled upon Sunrise waiting to have my motorcycle serviced in SF a couple years back. After first walking in, I wasn’t sure what to make of the place. It seemed a little cold and unassuming. After settling in I realized just how many options are on the menu. I ended up settling on a chicken Banh Mi and iced coffee. It was amazing! I haven’t had the chance to try their other menu items since I tend to be a creature of habit and order the same thing every time I’m there. Pros: Big menu, good food and cheap. Cons: A little unassuming at first. Bottom line: Cheap reliable food at a good lunch spot.

This place is a true hidden gem! Walking past and into the restaurant, you wouldn’t expect it to be a good food spot, but let me tell you — there are so many options on their menu and the food is DELICIOUS. Every time I come, I get the combination phở, bbq pork banh mi and an iced coffee. Every time I come here, it hits the spot. The portions are big and you could easily share your food between 2 people. Additionally, the owners are super nice and they make it feel like you’re getting home cooked meals. Don’t let looks deceive you and come check this place out!

Stopped by for lunch with coworkers. This place is a pretty standard run of the mill Vietnamese spot. Nothing is really stellar, but everything pretty much hits the spot. They also serve burgers and fries, which I have yet to try, but apparently are really good. So if you’re looking for phở, banh mi, or a burger and fries, this place could hit the spot. One thing that I do like about the place in particular is their thai iced tea because it’s not too sweet and is the perfect combination of caffeine and sugar to get me through the day at work.
