Knitz & Leather

The title of Knitz & Leather is a little misleading.
The word «knitz» can conjure up images of baby booties & scarves made by grandma circa 1956.
The «knitz» here are most certainly nothing like that.
First off, the materials are plush & straight up luxurious. We’re talking so utterly soft you can conceivably spend all day rubbing your sleeve against your cheek. And the colors… they’re so vibrant & rich. Think a classic film, after they put it in technicolor. Or, your Christmas tree lights on the tree when they’re turned off in contrast to when they’re lit up. Just beautiful.
«Leather.»
There’s a word that connotes Harley Davidson bad boys, The Fonz, & living room sectionals. Bomber & motorcycle jackets.
But here?
That’s not what we’re talking about.
Think soft, supple, & again, luxurious. These leather jackets are the leather jackets that fashionista dreams are made of. Heidi Klum would wear these jackets. They’re chic, sophisticated, & terribly stylish.
And classy. North Beach Leather doesn’t touch the class level going on here.
If you don’t see one you swoon for, which is hard to imagine, you can have one custom made. #rockstar.
I’ve had more than one of my friends ask to borrow one of my K&L sweaters. I said yes once, but that’s it. Hands off girls.

One of my favorite stops when I am in North Beach. The pictures don’t do justice to the rich colors of the fabrics or quality of the custom crafted leather jackets.
Julia, the owner of the store, is a «wizard» when it comes to making a jacket that is traditional, timeless and yet stylish. For the price of any off «the rack» leather coat you can have one that is measured and produced just for you.
And if you are not in the market for a coat they also have a variety of sweaters, tops and leather purses made by local designers from the Bay Area…
This is my go to place for a birthday or holiday gift or a personal «reward» :))
