Why is the credit card minimum $ 10?
I came in here to request a duplicate for a key and it was $ 1.50. I should’ve suspected that they have a minimum. I’m wondering why since I’m sure most keys don’t cost over that and data & processing fees are around $ 0.03…
Really annoyed with that.

Quick, cheap, open till 8PM and they get the job done well. I came in to make a couple copies of my house keys and the process couldn’t have been easier. I think I was only in the shop for about 5 minutes total. One nice little extra touch is that they had a fish symbol engraved on the keys they made for me so I could easily tell which ones were the originals and which ones were freshly made. Got back to my place and the keys worked perfectly. I’ll be back if I need any more keys copied.

Needed some keys, they had the blanks in stock. I observed what was in stock. have a lot old stock which means in San Francisco you can older keys made. I had keys made for lockset that was 65 years old. No problem you just have to patience.

I needed to get two locks rekeyed, and these guys were super prompt, helpful, and got the job done very quickly and at a reasonable price! Would not hesitate to call them for help again if I needed locksmith services.

Walked in and out in less than 10 minutes with duplicate keys so for fast service this places gets a 5.
The owners are a Cantonese couple whose English is not great. As a result we communicated in semi-​Cantonese semi mandarin to solve our problem. She is worried that we will make her pay for the duplicate key (that we brought) so we had to write it down to say we wouldn’t. Not sure why that’s such a big deal.
It’s really cheap though, 9 dollar for duplicate. What more can one ask for a key place?

I will give them a generous 5 stars for this is the second place I came to get a key duplicated. The first place on taraval was a general hardware store so they were not able to duplicate the key I wanted. I drove to Noriega, parked by Walgreens and 5 min + 2.50 plus tax later, it’s done. Since my key was atypical I asked if it didn’t work I can bring it back. Yes, I can and it was stamped with their workmanship. I decided to get a second key made since it was cheap and I didn’t want to have to hunt for a spare key again.

I’ve had my lock re-​keyed here twice and both times it was super fast and well done. The lady told me it would take about 15 minutes, walked to Walgreens and came back about 2 minutes later and it was done. Great service and they always get the job done right.

There’s no place better to make duplicate keys than here. You can walk out with new sets in 10 – 15 minutes for very reasonable prices — no questions asked. (Simple keys are $ 1.50. Master keys are $ 5.) I’ve used their same-​day service multiple times, personally and professionally, and every single key worked perfectly.

This review is for their key copying services. I was satisfied with my service here. One of their selling points is that they are open until 8PM (unusual for businesses in the Sunset area!). Came over here with three keys to be copied and was serviced pretty quickly and only had to wait a few minutes. In and out in under 10 minutes! I’m not expecting 5 star service for key copying so I wasn’t too miffed by their abrupt manner. I believe it’s cash only here, but not totally certain. Simple key copying requests are probably in the range of $ 2 to $ 4.

My roommate accidentally locked himself out of his bedroom right after we moved into a new apt. He had a date, so i called these guys. They were at our place within 15 minutes of me calling them and it took them less than 10 minutes to get it open. Only charged $ 70 which seemed fair to me.

Completely ignored when I walked in until I said hello. Was charged $ 3.50 for a colored key when the sign clearly said $ 3.00 and on top of that the 3 keys I got feel like a fake metal compared to my regular keys. When the lady was done she tossed my «new» keys on the table. Rudeness!

POOR WORK ETHIC /​WORKMANSHIP
Paid to repair a faulty lock, but after trying unsuccessfully for 20 minutes, they gave up and left. Tried getting them to come back and finish the job, but they said something along the lines of «that’s as good as it’s going to get» without offering a refund.
Hired a different, cheaper locksmith, who diligently spent 3 hours and successfully repaired the lock.

This is one of the only local locksmiths that carry a replacement lock cylinder for the electronic gates commonly found in San Francisco. Gone to other stores and nobody from Home Depot, Lowes or even a few American Locksmiths carry such a thing, and their prices reflect it.
They wanted $ 100 for the cheaper, no name model. And over $ 120 for a Kwikset. This is just the cylinder and 2 keys, so add more to that price when considering copies and labor if someone doesn’t know how to install it.

Lifesaver! My new landlord gave us one set of keys and left the country for three weeks. When we copied our set at Home Depot one didn’t work. Returned them, and had Home Depot make another try.
Thanks to Unilocal I gave these guys a try and for less money and less time I had keys that actually worked.

Kam wan is THE place to go to copy your keys. Not only do they do it in less than 10 seconds but they do it correctly! A bunch of other places that have copied my keys always mess up once or twice ad i wouldn’t find out until I go home and try it. But kam wan gets it right the first time! Plus their keys Aleta have a cute little fish logo on it how cute!

I hate to give this place a low rating because it’s a mom and pop business and I’m a huge proponent for such but I had a key copied here and it was very difficult to use. Now, I tried to give it a week or two– maybe I just needed to break it in, that didn’t work either.
Make sure that whomever does your key takes the rubber holder off the key itself. The man who did my key at Kam Wan didn’t. Maybe it was my bad for not telling him to take it off/​taking it off myself but I’ll wager to say locksmiths should know better.
I ended up having the same key re-​copied somewhere else and now it works fine.

I’ve only been here twice to get duplicates made, and while the price was reasonable and the service was quick, the older woman who made my keys both times was incredibly rude. She basically threw my finished keys on the counter and grunted with her back to me when I said «thank you».
It’s just a locksmith, so it’s not a big deal, but I expect a bit more just out of common courtesy.
