I am 100% satisfied with the way Jeannie did my brows and the entire process. She is professional and listened to my concerns fully before making recommendations. I didn’t feel rushed to make decisions. Her office is spotless and comfortable.
In addition to now having perfect, natural-​looking brows, I feel like my eyes are now framed better and look bigger. I was very hesitant to get my eyebrows tattooed because of all the things that could potentially go wrong, but Jeannie truly did an amazing job and I couldn’t be happier.

I came in for a eyebrow consultation after reading all the wonderful reviews on Unilocal.The reviews don’t lie — Jeannie is amazing at what she does! She’s very friendly and has great energy. I used to draw in my brows every single day, and it just wasn’t something I wanted to continue doing so I decided to look into permanent makeup. Jeannie uses a scratching method to draw individual hairs to make it look as natural as possible. It is worth every penny! I came in for 3 sessions, each three weeks apart; my brows looked amazing after the first session! I just finished my last session, and I am so happy with my brows! Jeannie did such a wonderful job, from picking the right color to drawing the perfect shape!

I have never taken the time to write a review on Unilocal,but Jeannie is awesome and I want to share my eyebrow experience. My eyebrows were tattooed about ten years ago. Jeannie told me the process, which I didn’t really understand. She does not like to tattoo over old color (at least in my case) so the process is more extensive to get the final look she is going for. My eyebrows were transformed from pencil thin gray eyebrows to a very soft natural look. It completely softened my face and coworkers commented, but were not sure what was different about my face. I finally understood the process Jeannie stands behind when I saw a coworker’s eyebrows. She also had previous tattooed eyebrows and was looking for a more natural brow. The new tattoo was done right over the old one and the result was not good looking! Not only am I thankful for the care that Jeannie puts into her craft, but she went above and beyond for my mom as well. Thank you Jeannie!

This review is only for her consultation as I decided not to go with Jeanie. There was an air of arrogance to her, which I did not appreciate. I was 10 minutes late because of the parking situation and felt super bad for it so I called her to let her know and apologized. She assured me that it was okay for me to come anyway. When I got there, she made me wait 15 minutes while she casually chatted it up with her friend after quickly greeting me. It was cool, I figured I made her wait too. So it was a consultation and I treated it as such, asking pertinent questions that would help me decide. Asking about prices and timeline and colors are standard. Now that I am older, Iike to proceed with caution. Jeanie answered my questions very defensively. I thought maybe she was having a bad day. She saw that I had some work done and began to bad mouth other people’s work, which I think is very unprofessional. No lady, I am not going to tell you where I got my work done so you could bash competing artists some more. I actually just came for a lip color consultation and I got judged on previous work, which I was and still am very happy with, ten years later. I mean, it was painful, but I also have great memories from doing it with friends and family. Jeanie responded with a snobby attitude, uninvitingly critiquing work which she believed were inferior to hers, something she kept on repeating despite my feeling increasingly uncomfortable with her bad mouthing others. I felt insulted by her and decided to go with someone else merely because she had a better attitude.
Maybe Jeanie was having a bad day, but maybe she just isn’t a nice and humble person. She also didn’t know how to listen very well, probably because she was so defensive and spent so much time discounting other people. A friend of mine also had a very similar experience with her, in which Jeanie told my friend that her laser job (done by a medical professional) was horrible and that it was less effective than her work. That’s really bold to say! I think the doctor would disagree. When people come in for a consultation, they are inquiring and practicing due diligence. It should not feel like a crime to proceed with caution! My point is that Jeanie seems like a mean spirited person and I wouldn’t want someone like that to work so intimately on me. Maybe you wouldn’t mind.
Apparently, if you write a negative review about her, Jeanie will find ways to defend herself and even look at your previous reviews to put you on blast. And then she’ll make comments about your budget not being big enough. She seems like a presumptuous snob to me. Lady, if you are good, the work should show for itself. You don’t have to discount other people and then make others feel inferior to make yourself feel better. This is the only negative review I have written for anyone because I love praising and commending people for their work, but I am sorry, you left a bad taste in my mouth Jeanie. Hopefully you will be kinder to folks.
Edit: In response to your response belowJeannie. You demonstrated exactly what I had described about your customer service. I was actually very pleasant during the consultation. Of course consultation is a two way street. What bothered me most was your discounting of other people’s work. That was when the consultation turned into more like gossip. I decided to look around for other makeup artists because I moved away, fyi. And there is no harm in shopping around, getting to know if there are any new techniques or technological advances. A consultation is the only way to tell. Nowhere did I say I came in to get a correction. It was a new procedure because I hoped to lighten the freckles on my lips. The work you commented on was completely irrelevant to what I came in for, hence the unprofessionalism I observed from you. Thank you for responding! It shows how arrogant, presumptuous and mean you are. This is just my honest review. I would give you a 0 if I could.

I have full alopecia — no eyebrows. I struggled to decide to go forward with permanent makeup. Every day I’ve had to use makeup and a stencil to draw them on my face. No longer! Jeannie has created what looks exactly like real hair eyebrows with permanent makeup. The care and craftsman ship has given me results beyond my expectations. Color, shape and detail are just perfect. She answered every question I had and calmed my fears during my first appointment. I wake up every day feeling normal again and I have gotten so many compliments. Highly recommend!

Jeannie has a fantastic eye and remarkable patience. Trust me you will appreciate the fact that she does not have a heavy hand while applying permanent makeup. Yes you may have to go back a few times until you get the look you want but this is true with any good permanent makeup artist. I have seen many clients come into Jeannie’s studio for tattoo removal and I feel sorry that these gals had to walk around looking like that before they found Jeannie. And she doesn’t just do permanent makeup removal, she can remove actual tattoos! I personally have not experienced the tattoo removal but it is amazing what they can do now a days. No more 10 plus laser removals. It can now be almost completely removed with I believe a saline solution of sorts. I wish I would have found her before I had mine partially removed by the laser. She also does tattoo camouflage. Ask her about it.
Her patience was beyond believable. I was actually going through a really rough patch in my life and was doing a lot of crying, part of the reason I decided to get my eyelids tattooed. I was also suffering from panic attacks. One time I almost bolted from her chair only to be soothed back in by Jeannie’s calmness and rationality. She actually took the time to do one eye at a time so I could keep one eye open. My eyes look absolutely phenomenal! So natural. I wake up in the morning and don’t need to do anything to my eyes and they look big and beautiful. When I go out at night I just add a little liner to the outer corner or maybe go for the full cats eye look and it’s fantastic. Some mascara and I’m good to go. I also had my eyebrows and lips done. I am 50 and I seriously look in the mirror the morning and feel 20 years younger. I also surf and swim in the ocean so I come out of the sea feeling like the siren I think I am. ;)

Jeannie is very talented & good at what she does. She keeps a natural look. I had a great experience with her; she is very friendly & courteous, & she takes good care of you. Numbing gel is used so the tattoo is not as painful, but there will still be some (it’s a tattoo!). Overall it’s not too long of a process (& if it’s your first time, don’t worry, it’ll look dark & thick at first for your eyebrows & lips, but it WILL become more light & natural looking after it heals, which is about a week) She won’t give up until you are satisfied with her work. I give her an A+!

I went for permanent makeup — eyelash enhancement because mine are neither full nor long nor curly. :(
Part girly-​girl, part tomboy, I like the look of makeup but hate the fuss, hence my interest. Also a big baby about pain, I was very picky in choosing. JuvEssentials won over other options because of the good reviews and because I felt very comfortable with Jeannie after our consultation.
Jeannie was very patient and warm. I must say I was a bit skittish about trying it. Okay, a LOT skittish. I contemplated for 6+ months before going. In Jeannie’s place I definitely would have tried my own patience, so I would say if you are thinking about it, just talk to her. One of the best things I have to say about the experience is that Jeannie never made me feel anything less than valued and respected as a client, even though I felt like a fraidy-​cat myself. It would be all to easy to discount my nerves, given her familiarity with the process, but she never did, she never made me feel wrong for my concerns. That alone is gold.
About the pain-​levels. It wasn’t fun but I was surprised at how bearable it was and the touch-​ups got easier. Understand I am a highly sensitive individual. Folks with normal to high pain tolerance will probably laugh at me. Still, I feel it is worth it.
Finally, Jeannie has a steady hand and very good taste. She goes slowly in building up the level of permanent makeup look you want so you can be sure of getting the look you want. At first it looks very dark and extreame but it heals to about ¼ of the intensity it seems at first.
If you are thinking about it just talk to her, she is a big sweetie, no pressure of any kind.

This is really a 2.5 to maybe at best a 3 star experience I had with Jeannie. This review is long overdue and i used Juvessentials when she was located in the mission, and now she has moved her business to the downtown Union square area.
I did my eyebrows with Jeannie. Her technique of tattooing is using a tattoo needle and ink and it’s done by hand as oppose to using a gun. This gives it a lighter feathering look which should resemble what a true eyebrow should look like. Jeannie first drew the shape in according to what she thought was appealing and fitting for my face and since I approved, she went ahead and tap tapped it in. It was actually kind of painful and I have a pretty high threshold for pain. After about an hour I was done.
Round 2, two weeks later I made an appointment for a touch up because most of the ink flaked off leaving my eyebrows light and odd colored. Back to the Joan Crawford look. No charge for this touch up.
Round 3, another appointment a couple months later because after the last flaking the shape was off and not symmetrical and the color was still too light. Mommy Dearest look again. This time there was a charge.
After this flaking the eyebrows were better but not quite right, I still had to do some coloring in to one of my eyebrows. I did not want to go back because each time I went, she would smile a big smile and tell me it looked great, but to me it didn’t look great. I didn’t want to go through this painful procedure again and pay yet more money.
JuvEssentials is expensive !! Yes, I acknowledge that this style of work is more expensive but I should leave happy with the work how I look.
Jeannie at JuvEssentials was certainly pleasant enough. She was reassuring and very enthusiastic, to the point of being somewhat a phony.
I finally broke down after a year and went to another woman that also has her business downtown around Union Square. Same technique of tattooing and her prices are much more reasonable. I am now much happier with my eyebrows.

Jeannie at JuvEssentials takes her career and artistic license very seriously. I’ve been meaning to Unilocal her again literally «years“now, but after 6 years of going to JuvEssentials for eyeliner and eyebrows I cannot look myself in the mirror and feel so positive without passing that on, still!
I’ve never been one to indulge in any services that alter my appearance. What Jeannie does for me is very straightforward and so are the benefits, still. The eyeliner opens my eyes up significantly, leaves me looking naturally beautiful. The eyebrow enhancement helps balance my face, as you could barely see my eyebrows before Jeannie did her magic.
The best part of all this is that I wake up looking great, ready to go! I don’t have to spend money or time on looking good everyday. Jeannie is professional, experienced, and knows how to meet your individual needs, all you have to do is tell her. Thanks Jeannie you are so amazing! I wouldn’t trust anyone else to do what you do to my face, and after having done my research, my six years with you has proven right AND worth it.

Let just said Jeanie is very unprofessional. Extremely greedy person I must say. Ladies, please be aware especially if you were here to get your tattoo remove or lightening. She told me that if I want to remove my eyeliner tail it would be 250? if IT 250 i might as well do everything today so I asked her how much for removing the old tail, plus touching up my old eyeliner and adding a new tail? She say 300. Anyways as the procedure started it was very painful because she was too cheap to give me more lidocaine for the numbing. after she was done with removing my eyeliner tail she than say I think you should come back to get your eye touch up? WTF? I than asked her are you going to give me a discount especially you just told me it will be 300 and now it going to be another 300? If I were to known about this. I would have never start the procedure? She say 250 with touch up and if you want tail to be added it would be 300. So ladies just be careful with this person. Make sure you have write down what you are really getting because she can take back her word anytime.

I scoured reviews for about a year until I found Jeannie. She had an extensive portfolio online and had some really challenging cases that turned out beautiful. She also had a large of experience with fair skin tones.
Jeannie spent about ½ hour with me going over the design, process, and post-​care. I was incredibly nervous and pretty obsessive over my eyebrows, so I greatly appreciated her thorough explanations and patience with me.
She started by looking at my eyebrows, made some measurements, then painted the ink on my skin in the general shape that my eyebrows would be in. Jeannie uses as much of your natural eyebrows as a guide as possible. Once I was okay with the shape she made the first application.
It took 4 – 5 days to fully heal and they turned out thin and faint (this is part of the normal process). Then I went back a couple more times over the next few months to keep adding until we got to the darkness and fullness that I was looking for.
Now I go about every 9 – 12 months for a touch-​up since they naturally fade over time. Each time I go, my eyebrows look even better — she makes minor tweaks each time.
Overall, she is an amazing eyebrow designer, tattoo applicator, and has an incredible bedside manner. I highly recommend Jeannie!

Jeannie is a true talent in her field. I first went to Jeannie to have my lips enhanced, but found myself quickly coming back to have other areas beautified. I was a bit apprehensive at first when considering cosmetic tattooing of the face. As I like my look to be natural and subtle and all I ever knew/​saw about permanent make up truly frightened me. After seeing Jeannie’s portfolio of work and having a consultation with her, I knew I was in good hands! I am so thrilled with the results! Besides being highly skilled, she is professional, friendly, caring, communicative, and a good listener. Her new office is beautiful, clean, and centrally located. I’ve been going to Jeannie for many years. She has been keeping my eyebrows and eyeliner looking great! My mom lost all her eyebrows and penciled them on — when I found Jeannie I knew I had found a much better solution! I never have to worry about going out looking like I don’t have on make-​up. Jeannie is a true artist and very professional! I was hesitant to go at first because I’ve seen some brow work in the past and they fade to green or purple. my co-​worker went to see her first just for a liner on lower lid but she ended up getting brows done as well and let me tell you, she was all I needed to make a decision to get mine done as well. They looked amazing!!! needless to say, I had my eyebrows done about 6 months ago and I couldn’t be more happier. It saves me so much time in the morning, now I don’t have to draw them and what makes it really awesome is when I workout I don’t have to worry about my eyebrows being wiped off! Haha
I’m going back in for a touch-​up as she recommends.

Jeannie is a very chill, very affable person – so lovely to talk to and definitely someone you can trust. I’m glad she was the one to do my eyeliner. Jeannie is definitely a professional, but she also made me feel super comfortable. I wasn’t a ~subject~ for the ~artist~ to criticize and project onto (I don’t want your thick ass eyebrows, bitch! …yes, I had a bad consultation elsewhere). But Jeannie restored my faith in permanent makeup [and the people who perform it].

Jeannie is the BOMB!!! This gal is a perfectionist when it comes to her art. She truly wants to do the job right. She is very communicative and explains everything step by step. She takes her time to make sure that it’s done right. I am super picky and anal especially with permanent eyeliner and I have to say she put her with my nick pickyness with aplomb. Her studio is has East coast chic mixed with SF style and comfort.

I wasn’t born with great eyebrows in the first place, and when one was burnt off by an exploding camp stove many years ago, I was left with significant asymmetry. Fortunately, there is a fix for that: Jeannie.
In just 2 sessions, Jeannie created beautifully arched brows that appear completely natural and symmetric. Her hand-​done work mimics individual brow hairs, so the results are amazing, even under close inspection, and in areas where my natural brow hairs were absent. I was so impressed with her natural-​looking brow work that I had a «lash enhancement» (permanent eyeliner) done as well. It looks great from day 1.
Jeannie is not only an artist, but a very fair business person. She is straightforward about her appointment policies and sends email reminders 24 hours before her appointments with last-​minute instructions (I think Jasmine W. misunderstood the meaning of «appointment» when she wrote her review). Although you might find someone who can do cheaper permanent makeup, I think this is a case of «you get what you pay for». I have no hesitations about recommending Jeannie to others and feel that my investment was well worth the cost.
