Erika, Ria and the whole team are wonderful. I get so relaxed during my facials that I could fall asleep — it feels so good and the atmosphere is very peaceful. It’s definitely a treat to go there, but is also good for my skin. My skin always looks and feels great after my treatments, and I can get the tools there to keep it that way between visits. The products smell delicious, and Erika has now come up with her own line, based on her years of knowledge taking care of skin. I can’t say enough good things about Skincare by Erika and my experiences there over the past 3 years.

I love Erika doing my facial, she is the owner, very professional and dedicated. This is the best facial I got in San Francisco, she is taking good care of my skin, far beyond only the ‘experience’, she gives the perfect treatment I need!
In the beginning I found them rather selling, also as a European having lived in Europe all my life, I was not used to this American way of doing business. However Erika now understands when I need or don’t need extra services or products.
As long as I live in San Francisco, I will always go to Erika for my facial.

Came in bc of a Groupon that I had purchased for myself & my best friend for her wedding. SO sales-​y! When I first walked in, there were passive-​aggressive signs posted everywhere stating that gratuity was not included in vouchers, & a sign stating the price of a regular treatment & what a 15%, 20%, etc tip would be. During the facial the esthetician would not stop talking, and it wasn’t normal small-​talk that usually goes on, it was ALL sales. Constantly trying to sell me the products that she was using, upgrade me to more services during my facial, & convince me to buy more sessions of facials. After the facial, she had all the products lined up in front & explained them again and why I needed them. When I went to pay a tip at the end, the lady (Erika) said, «When you’re ready, let me know how much you’d like to tip,» which was awkward in itself. I told her the amount, and without looking at me, or missing a beat, she immediately said, «she appreciates it,» like it was completely a script. She then attempted to sell me more sessions (AGAIN) & ask me when I wanted to schedule my next appointment for. FYI, this is not how you sell, I’ve worked in sales & the first thing you do is become friends with your client, get to know them, THEN you can start selling. Seems to me that Erika is really pushing her staff to sell sell sell, which is fine, but she should provide them (and herself!) with some proper sales training. The facial itself was fine, but not relaxing at all. Definitely would not go back and pay full price for their services.

Went for a «signature facial» Groupon deal, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Erika made me feel comfortable and relaxed, explaining each step of the process as she went along. All products used felt and smelled wonderful, and I emerged with clean, soft, glowing skin. Although the products are promoted, there was no hard sell at all. I will happily return!

I’ve been a customer for 2 years now, and have always been incredibly happy with the service offering and staff. Everyone is super friendly, efficient, and I’ve never had any bad experiences following a waxing service. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a new spa/​salon downtown!

Decided to give Skincare By Erika a try after purchasing a groupon — that was 3 months ago. I’m getting married next month so I purchased the microdermabrasion/​facial package (in addition to waxing packages) had have been regularly getting facials done over the last 3 months. I have normal/​dry skin and generally don’t have problems with it but I wanted to see what regular skin care would do to it. I’m super happy with the results and feel like I can go without that much makeup now. I’ve learned so much about skincare and plan on purchasing more packages even post-​wedding because they provide such excellent service (the facials even come with a shoulder and arm massage — so relaxing!). They are all super knowledgeable and friendly but my go-​to estheticians are Ria and Allyson.

I came in to treat some of the dark/​post-​acne spots on my face; I had 6 treatments. Although my face felt very soft and smooth after the facials, I didn’t see a difference in my complexion.
I even tried a couple of the products they recommended and my skin actually got worse at one point and it took me a while to get it back to normal. My skin broke out so much that I ended up with new spots on my face. I went back to my original routine and added more natural masks and my skin healed; this process took a month. I was patient thinking my skin was purging, but my skin got sooo much better once I went for the more natural approach (no chemicals).
My recommendation to anyone coming here:
The facials are nice and the staff is accommodating, however don’t be so quick to buy the products. The chemicals in the products can be harsh for some people.

I got the most painless Brazilian wax by Ria. She used the blue wax and was very patient, friendly and professional. It was a pleasure to have her. I would go back anytime.

I’m not one to write reviews, but I’ll give it a shot.
So all my life I’ve been struggling with acne and have ALWAYS been super self conscience about it. I’ve been going to Erika for about 2 – 3 months now and sweet jesus. My skin has cleared up so much. It’s not perfect, yet. But she prescribed me a skincare régime that I unfortunately VERY loosely follow but from the little that I do, it’s stayed pretty much at bay. I’m super excited to keep coming back and I look forward to our appt. every month.

Got free lip waxing done by Ria — probably the most thorough lip wax I ever got.
Also, Ria did facial for me a few months ago. Sge is a very knowledgeable esthetician, can analyze skin properly and select the right products to make the most of it.

Got a Groupon $ 30 for a Brazilian. and guess what? 15 mins and I’m out the door! Granted, i am pretty easy to wax… but MICHELLE #2!!! She was quick, efficient, painless! I love that they are in the same building as my dentist! I often have to go to the dentist, so I can kill 2 birds with one stone!
Place is clean. In and out in 30mins. I feel GOOOOOD!
I bought a package (of course) $ 45/​wax??? SCORE!

Came here on a coupon. I ended up coming back every month instead. They constantly offer promotions on brazilian & facials. I got a free eye brow wax the other day and let me tell you, it was the most painless, thorough eyebrow wax I’ve ever had.
Ria (my go-​to esthetician, #4 if you want to book her) measured out my eyebrow, and the drew out the line, I think I even fell asleep at one point because it was so relaxing.
Will keep coming back here for sure, the place & service is top-​notch!

I highly recommend this place! I came here for a Brazilian and was really happy with the service and experience.
Coming from previous bad Brazilians’, I really like how this place uses European Blue Hard Wax. It’s less painful and requires less times to wax the hair off. My esthetician (#1 online if you’re trying to book) made sure to ask if it was too hot before putting the wax on me.
Overall, the experience was great and painless! She did try to sell me lotion and creams at the end but hey, if you don’t like being upsold, just say no!

I had a fantastic experience here last November though I did not have Erika but a very pleasant woman whose name I have forgotten but had the lunchtime 15 peel and my face DID glow afterwards as she indicated yet still has netted no boyfriends!
But obviously this is out of their control! :)

I have been owing this place an update since my last visit.
I actually decide to update today after a visit to another wax salon so I can know whether all waxes are done like the ones @ Erika’s.
Apparently not, because I had an awesome wax today.
Back to the experience at Erika’s:
After reviewing my first experience here, I was contacted by the owner, Erika, to have a touch-​up service (which was not mentioned by the first esthetician). I picked a date with another esthetician and went in. She was so warm and nice but the wax job was horrible. She was not able to get rid of baby hair using wax so she tried to tweeze it out. However, she was digging in my skin every time she tweeze and it was so SO SO painful!!! and my skin was swollen and some pores were infected afterward. After I left, I felt something was not right around the area and when I got home, I realized she didn’t clean out all the wax and it was sticking to my underwear!
Erika followed up again after that. I feel like they have 5 stars for customer service but 0 for techniques.
The one I went to today also tweezed but it didn’t hurt at all and they sprayed some numb spray before hand as well and made sure no wax was left using a wax cleanser after the wax.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR WAXING.

I am cutting them down to two stars simply because of the hard sell you have to endure every time you come in for a facial. I come here to have my skin taken care of and to relax, not to get an unceasing drone of selling selling selling.
I do understand they are trying to help by making suggestions, but enough already. I think I was recommended around 10 products during my last visit. Maybe realize that people have products they already use and like and that are effective, and maybe people can’t afford to buy your products (which can be found cheaper elsewhere — like Amazon?).

Erika has a fabulous personality and the wax on the skin, didn’t hurt as much as I expected from previous experiences and like any other! The pain was minuscule and she asked if it was too hot before putting the wax fully on and off!
A lovely suite with warm décor as well as tranquil music to calm the nerves!

I had the best facial of my life over the weekend. I bought a Groupon for a 60 minute facial and scheduled an appointment. I didn’t particularly like their online system, but when I had to reschedule, they were very helpful over the phone. When I checked in for my facial, everyone was really nice and I filled out some brief paperwork.
Ariel was AMAZING! She is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. She identified my skin type, told me what products I should be using, and helped me develop a pre-​wedding facial plan. The products that were used on my face smelled and felt great, and when she asked if I wanted a microdermabrasion upgrade, I said yes. It was my first time having microdermabrasion done, and I really enjoyed it! After the facial, I asked if she had time to do some waxing, and thankfully she did. I had my underarms waxed for the first time, and I’m so glad I had Ariel do it, she’s such a pro! The wax that they use is a lot less painful that the normal stuff that you get at nail salons.
After my facial and waxing, Ariel showed me all of the products that she used and explained what each product did. There wasn’t any pressure to buy anything, but I ended up buying a starter kit just to see if I liked the line. I will definitely be going back every month for a wax and a microdermabrasion facial! Even though facials tend to be pricey, I definitely feel like I will be getting my money’s worth at Skincare by Erika!
