Came here looking for a new jacket. The whole store is 70% girls clothing and 60% baby clothing. So shopping for a 2 year old boy was a complete waste of time. The prices here are so expensive that they need a security for a 15′ X 30′ store.

I am giving 1 star for extremely awful customer service. I didn’t find out what is the name of the salesperson who was helping as she wasn’t wearing a name tag. When i find out her name i will update my post. She was rude, gave me all kinds of glares, a definite no no for a kids clothing store. I buy lots of janie and jack clothes at the palo alto stores and gilroy outlet, will not come back here ever again.

I don’t know what other reviewers are talking about! Every time I walk in there sales assistant were very friendly and helpfull! Babies clothes looks adorable! One star down for the ridiculous prices! Are you guys serious? About 150 $ for the six month baby girl dress?! The only time I can afford to shop there is sale time! Sale prices are pretty good. Some times it’s even more then 50% less! I bought some baby shower gifts and the frap was very nice! Everything in the paper and boxes!

The clothes are insanely cute!!! They have a simple, classic style of clothes for your little boy or girl. It makes you want to go take your kids on a boat. Granted, my 3 year old daughter wearing these clothes are NOT going on a boat, we will wear these clothes to the park, where she will get dirt, grass and popsicle stains all over it. Still, she will look absolutely adorable. I LOVE their bathing suits. They look very retro and sweet. –1 star. Its pricey! This will not be Target prices.

The girls working in the SF Center location can take a huge lesson or two from Jenny at the Chestnut location with regards to customer service and how you deal with people in general. Seriously, who hired the SA’s for this place?!! For an upscale children’s clothing and specialty boutique– with prices to match, shouldn’t the sales staff also reflect this. It is as though this location had a hiring fair at a high school in the ghetto and felt pity to bring the two girls I dealt with to work. Perhaps they should have been left flipping burgers. In addition, my two year old has a much wider vocabulary and better grammar than these two. People who shop at this store actually know what they are looking for and are usually the type to drop serious cash to outfit their little ones. It is not Old Navy. I would suggest going out of your way to make the trip to the Chestnut Street location so that you can avoid dealing with the Rif Raf they brought to work in the SF Shopping Center.

I ran in to Janie and Jack yesterday at 6pm in a mad dash to find a gift for a newborn girl — while being illegally parked. Not one of my proudest moments, but the ladies were so helpful and accommodating. I had no idea what to get but Dora(store clerk) was a lifesaver and picked out the cutest onesie w/matching socks. My friend opened it later last night and LOVED it! I would definitely recommend this store for their adorable clothes and great customer service! Btw — this was at the Chestnut store

I went here for the first time back when I visited SF. I thought the clothes were cute and had a sale going on during the Summer. Seem to have good selections but most things were pricey.

Lame… Don’t ever buy gifts for people from Janie and Jack, if the recipient tries to return the gift(w/gift receipt) they can only get store merchandise credit. That’s pretty crap if you ask me.

I needed a gift for a baby shower… My first one ever… I needed to impress and do good because i was going into scared grounds. I needed a good present. Thus a friend came with me here. Gave me advice and showed me what i should get. I was shocked. These baby clothes are more expensive than my clothes! But they were at least cute and had little pictures/designs women go mushy mushy for. In the end, at least the staff was helpful and had a sense of humor. I would never buy my kids clothes here, i’ll have them wear napkins and towels instead.

I feel like I have been having some really negative experiences lately, but judging from the other reviews of J&J, I am not alone. The clothes are cute and very preppy. I needed a summer dress for my daughter’s first birthday photo. The service was a bit pushy, but it didn’t bother me. Then, as I was looking through the baby sunglasses, the cashier looked SCARED as if I was going to STEAL a pair! She was GLARING at me and watching my hands very intently. I ended up buying the dress, but only because I desperately needed it for this week. The SA’s here need to get over themselves. I’ve never experienced anything like this before(well outside of So Good Jewelry on Haight), and I certainly won’t be returning to this particular location of J&J. You’re better off checking out the Chestnut Street location where the SA’s are friendly and helpful.

Hey hey what can I say, I’m a big fan of Janie and Jack, so was excited to see another location for them at the Westfield(there first store is perfectly situated on Chestnut). If your little man or woman is planning a trip to the Hamptons or Martha’s Vineyard(they have great playgrounds!), you owe it to them to shop here. My friends that have seen our little guy in their clothes all say the same thing: Like father, like son. So what, is there a problem with having a fondness for v-neck sweaters? For plaid pants? It’s a bit more pricey than say, Baby Gap, but the styles are — as mentioned above — much more preppy-friendly. They also have a great sales rack, so worth checking that out, at the very least. Also, they have a great return policy, even on sale items, which comes in handy when that seersucker suit doesn’t meet Wifey/Mom’s approval, but that is another tale for another time.

2 stars for being too expensive(people this is not Oilily) and rude service when returning something. I returned a sweater that I bought too small and had the salesperson argue with me that it should fit small — and had to fill out a questionnaire detailing exactly why I returned it. And when you’re just browsing they are too pushy. Cute clothes but not worth the bother with Nordstrom a few feet away.

Very cute but expensive for the quality. This is Gymboree’s more expensive sibling… the store is so narrow if someone is checking out you will have a hard time getting past them. WTF? Oh i get it, its SF code to have a space big enough for a wheel chair to get behind the counter… big design flaw if you ask me. The service: Terrible. Each item you buy is wrapped in tissue paper, with cutsie stickers and ribbons and boxes… it makes for a LONG wait to pay if some tacky tourist is stuffing her arms because«we dont have one of these in New Orleans» Ugh…

For any new baby that emerges in my circles, they inevitably get something for JnJ. Every recipient parent is either super polite, or they truly love this stuff. Yes, it’s overpriced. But, they try to move merchandise as quickly as the Gap — that means major markdowns, so don’t buy full price. The store at the SF Center is great because the sales racks are brimming here. Maybe because the new Westfield has sucked the marrow out of the SFC?

Seriously. I love this store. I really shouldn’t — it looks like it could be an independent fancy Pac Heights sort of store, but it’s only a chain a part of the Gymboree family. But I still love it. I love it because when they have a sale, they actually have a real SALE. So my friends babies all benefit from their sales, because I can’t help myself from buying cute baby clothes that I wish I could wear. And I’ve been told by all my girlfriends that the clothing here washes well and are durable. Also, if you ask for your items to be gift-wrapped, the saleswomen take the time to make your present look priceless.

This replaced the Gymboree at the SF Centre(they are affiliated). Why oh why? Although the clothes are nice. The prices are expensive($ 50 for a cotton sweater? I don’t think so). 2 stars for the ridiculous prices!
