Decent place for Indian grocery. They have:
Deep parathas– plain, Aloo, Paneer
Dals and spices
Paneer blocks
Kurkure
Other stuff
Their vegetables were t very good. Had to throw them away– best toto Safeway which is right across.
Tip– ****If using google maps, then go to the Safeway in this neighborhood, you’ll find Jai Ho much quicker. I always have trouble finding this place if I rely solely on google maps with the address given.

When the call of real homemade Indian food calls me, I come here.
All the spices you need to make your garam masala mix? Done.
Real stone wheat flour to make roti? Done.
The vermicelli to make seviyan payasam? Done.
Indian biscuits (which are English or Irish tea biscuits) & chai? Done.
Ghee, dal, Indian sweets…
It’s all here.
And, unlike so many other Indian markets, it’s very organized & very clean.
The staff are positively sweet & helpful.
The only Indian market I need in SF.

The only reason one goes here is because there are no other better alternatives in the city. Variety is really limited. If you are used to big indian grocery stores, this is a huge disappointment.

Had to find some Indian food stuffs that went well beyond the offerings of the ‘Ethnic Foods” aisle of the Safeway across the parking lot.
The Good: They had what I needed! Fresh Curry leaves, Kaoosri Methi and a few other things and at reasonable prices.
The Not so Good: Whereas I was the ONLY customer in the store and was obviously dropping over $ 50 the two guys «working» there weren’t exactly eager or interested in helping me with more than a mumble and finger point in the general direction where things were to be found. And then it took the guy 5 minutes to leave his obviously time-​sensitive inventory counting to ring me up.
The register is where you make money my friend. And the helping me find what I need would go a really long way.
I’ll come back, if I need to, but I wouldn’t mind finding a friendlier option for my curry leaf purchasing.

The address is a little deceiving — it’s on the Safeway side behind Fillmore. I wouldn’t have found it without another Unilocaler’s comment. The store is small with narrow aisles but very well stocked for the space. I was able to stock up on rose water, curry, and dal — and now I know where to go for almond oil!

Look for Jai Ho in the Safeway shopping center between Fillmore and Webster — although it has a Fillmore Street address, no entrance there.
Totally authentic, all the spices and things you need for your indian recipes. Nice people.

I have been spoiled in Chicago with very large Indian stores chock full of very inexpensive item; and Patel Brothers in the windy city makes them look ridiculous, but Jai Ho is the best you will get in the city of San Francisco. Large bags of basmati rice: check!, the four pound bags of bean varieties: check!, the spices and coconut can all be had here, in a clean store at a great location on Fillmore, close to Geary. Since there is a huge parking lot next to a Safeway, there is plenty of parking, and you can pick up some additional groceries and kill two stones with one bird!!!
On Saturday from 11 – 1 in the afternoon, you can mosey down the street and take in some live jazz while you finish your shopping at the Filmore farmers market!

Jai Ho is a small Indian grocery store. mostly dry groceries. meats, produce not meat, didn’t really look. lots of edibles, (cookies, candies)
buys: «nutro» chocolate flavored wafers (1,69)
–has palm oil, sugar, wheat flour, whey powder, milk powder, cocoa powder
–interesting initial taste but funny aftertaste
–made in united arab emirates
wouldn’t buy again.

The quality of a business must be judged on more than its inventory and cleanliness. Today I came across the City on three transits in order to get mango powder for a curry that I was making. I LOVE Indian food. I LOVE cooking. I LOVE Indian anything. But, I dreaded meeting up with the older gentleman who mans the register because he is usually grumpy. Today was no exception and I have decided to exclusively go even further out of my way to the other Indian food market which is on Polk. It is cramped, a bit untidy, and in a sketchy neighborhood. But, the owner is warm, welcoming, and appreciative of my business. As Fitzgerald wrote in «The Great Gatsby,»

Indian music playing in the background. An array of smells of Indian-​ness (food-​wise) in the air. Adequate parking. Small store though with a variety of items. A con: somewhat pricey — though this is one of the few Indian grocery stores in the city. Found what I was looking for = rakhis (to send out to my bros), Maggi — masala spicy flavored (a.k.a. Indian ramen noodles = my easy food), Heinz beans, frozen okras, parathas, & kulfipops (mango and malai = my fave flavors)! …yes, very random items. Also got a fresh samosa from the stash near the register. Fresh vegetables near the store’s entrance, though I didn’t get any this time around. Interesting location (as a previous reviewer mentioned); therefore I will only visit during daylight hours. Also closed on Mondays.

Convenient location. Well stock. Owner runs it very good. Some items are less expensive than elsewhere. One can find right spices and ingredients. Quality (halal) items. Home made samosas on the weekends.
CONS:
Now they close on Mondays.
SUMMARY:
The FIllmore is perhaps the only neighborhood that has survived gentrification. Finding this local store still in business is just great. They sell a lot of items you might need; always in stock.
Owners are nice Panjabis.

Interesting location for an Indian grocery store but I’m not complaining!
This is a very tiny store but it’s packed with a bunch of cool items. They have a bunch of ingredients for those looking to cook authentic Indian cuisine: lentils, spices etc… and for the rest of us (including me) they have the boxes of spices for Tandoori chicken, Masala and curry =) Yay! Just add yogurt and meat and bam you’re done. They have frozen items as well including naan and ice cream, and they have fresh samosas near the register, which I haven’t tried yet but definitely want to.

Oh, I was so happy to see that Jai Ho had fresh curry leaves for sale. In fact they always have everything I need for my Indian food addiction, the best cuisine on earth! I cook Indian food regularly and many Indian food items cannot be found at Whole Foods or other markets.
Whatever Indian food items you need you’ll find them at Jai Ho. I look forward to each visit and stock up so I don’t have to come often. I also ship a lot of what I buy to Hawaii to my girlfriend’s place that I visit so I can cook great Indian food for her too.
My kitchen smells so great right now after grinding up a big bag of all the spices in garam masala!
